  1. You'd get more for the money. Worse defense, but a cannon arm, just as powerful(if not more powerful), more speed on the basepaths, and the possibility to hit .320 is still there too. The fact that he was injured this year and his numbers are down because of it doesn't help his chances of getting a fat contract either. I think it's doable, just not very likely.
  2. You won't find a SS that doesn't make errors. Jose does have quite a few errors, but 18 really isn't that bad of a number. Just be glad that we don't have Rafael Furcal....he only has 31 errors. Berroa in KC has 24. Garciaparra has 18. Tejada has 17 in 155 games or so. And Clayton has like 13 in 135 games....which is about the same number of games Jose played in. Jose also has more range then 3 steps either way.
  3. It had to of been Everett? Who else could it of been?
  4. I know it isnt really an appropriate time to be comparing media coverage between Sox fan violence and other incidents, but I couldnt help but mention it. After first coming on this site and seeing this thread I thought it would be the main topic on MLB.com.........it wasnt. Then I go to ESPN.com and look for the heading............it existed but was on the right hand side in small, bold print. Everyone on Soxtalk can imagine if this would of occured at USCF. Regardless of the coverage its a tragic incident of fan rivalry. I don't think there's anything that the security at Dodger Stadium could of done to prevent this. Many fans from these teams would of been arguing, nobody could of predicted something like this. The media is so bad. Good stories are often put to the side and bad stories with twisted truths and such are often put up front(Moronotti-type articles, Posnanski-type articles, etc). It is sad. Shame on the media for doing such things. Make light of this issue....it is a terrible, tragic thing. Anyways, my prayers go out towards the family of the murdered, and I hope the murderer is sentenced to death. That is sad.
  5. Those games were big now.....but Esteban should already have about 22 wins. He lost 1-0 THREE times, and worst of all, 2 of those 1-0 losses came to the f***ing Tigers. IIRC, he also lost 2-1 on 1 or 2 occassions as well, and I think he lost 3-2 one time as well. We win half of those games and those games he threw against the Twinks don't mean as much as they did.
  6. We'll finish in 2nd. The Royals are terrible and it is showing now.
  7. We get rid of Ordonez, I have to ask....has anyone ever heard of Vlad Guerrero? Not only would we be able to get a s***load of stuff for Ordonez(I know San Diego has shown interest in him, and plenty of other teams would as well....the A's possibly, or the M's....etc.....we could get a few good arms and bats for Ordonez). They have a FA market for a reason. I'd be all for building around 1 person on this team or 1 general area on the team(for instance, building around the pitching staff wouldn't be a bad idea....get a few great arms for the pen, say LaTroy Hawkins, Hasegawa, Foulke[like that'd ever happen], and then maybe Arthur Rhodes as well....though I'm pretty sure Seattle will most undoubtedly resign Hasegawa and Rhodes...resign Colon, get a #5 starter, and then worry about what we need offensively, like our lack of team speed). If it takes getting rid of all but 1 or 2 of Maggs, Thomas, Lee, and Konerko, I'd be all for it.
  8. We tried that this year and finished in 2nd place. We NEED a #5 starter, period.
  9. Ick. Cristian Guzman....I've heard nothing but bad things about him, and from seeing him everyday, he can get VERY ugly at the plate. If we got him for $1-$3 mill a year....maybe. But he can't steal bases(even with his great speed), he can be a very bad player at times, and it seriously looks like he just doesn't give a s*** half the time. Not sure I'd want Eckstein either after seeing what he did this year. Gotta love his attitude toward the game though. Aurilia could be a sleeper. Am I the only one who remembers that Aurilia won an MVP a couple years ago? Something tells me he could do that here too. Get out of that dreaded stadium for anyone, especially right-handed hitters, and get into a hitters park where the ball flies off the bat during the summer....man oh man could that get fun. I'd take Matsui too.
  10. I was just gonna find this quote too. Glad someone else found it before me. I have no problem with accepting the fact that we lost the division. I DO have a problem with someone kicking us while we're down. That just pisses me off like nothing else. That being said, I wish many, many groin kicks and bean balls to Doug Mientkiewicz in the future. A few spikings wouldn't be bad either. God I wish so bad after seeing this comment that we would just reel off 10 straight and have the Twinkies lose 3 of their next 8. Nothing would make me happier in the world. It won't happen though
  11. Dammit, SJSU lost. Atleast Neil Parry got in the game. What a great story he is.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that hates getting his teeth worked on. I f***ing hate that. I can't feel it, but having a drill on my teeth, and hearing it, and feeling the vibrations gives me a bad mental picture and makes me feel like s*** all over. Thats why I f***ing hate getting cavaties, espcially ones you can't f***ing see and you can do nothing about(and yes, that happened to me....they used a laser and found a cavity in my tooth). I f***ing hate the dentist. :finger
  13. I'm glad the Twins will win the division. Saves us the embarrassment of getting embarrassed in the playoffs and gives us the joy of seeing the Twins get embarrassed in the playoffs. They have s*** for starting pitching(Radke, Santana, Lohse, and the Choker, Kenny Rogers? Puh-lease), a bullpen that has Jesse Orosco in it(enough said), and an offense that has to be clicking to even be considered good. The only two things they have going for them are their defense and the Metrodome effect, and we found out that this team doesn't take advantage of that as well as the 87 and 91 teams did.
  14. lol wsf ya know something.. the more i look at your sig.. the more i think it should say something like this..(knowing what a butt smoocher selig is to big name players)....hey samme you took your roids today right, and you have the corked bat with ya right.....i have 50 bucks riding on your first homer, make me proud and make me win.......... or something along those lines anyhow.......i cant help but think that he would rather kiss shammes ass as opposed to makin him piss in a cup........ For starters, that's not a bad idea. And secondly, had you seen the second episode of Playmakers(that football show on ESPN), there was a scene like EXACTLY the same between the owner on that show and the star running back. I mean I saw it and I instantly thought of that show.
  15. Were you wearing any Dolphins gear? Maybe the guy is a Jills or a J-E-T-S-suck-suck-suck fan???? Better luck next time. Maybe they will let you take the next test on the bus or some other form of public transportation. J/K Jills....lol...you crack me up every time. Now wait this weekend when the Bills f***ing dominate the Dolphins.
  16. Buccaneers Patriots Chiefs Colts Saints Lions Steelers Chargers 49ers Packers Seahawks Giants Bills Broncos
  17. If anyone(other then sox-r-us) says yes, I will slap them accross the face. We have to go 10-0, and THEN hope the Twins lose 3 games against the two worst teams in the AL. We are f***ED. Denial is not a river in Egypt.
  18. We'll get plenty of draft picks as it is. I know RPS brought this up shortly after the trade deadline, and Killa pointed it out again not that long ago....but what they are doing is rebuilding in a less obvious way. What they are doing is going with a win-win situation, in a sense. What they will do is offer arb to guys like Colon, Everett, probably Alomar, (if neither picks up their option), possibly Frank, Jose...etc. We could end up with 5-10 more draft picks just this offseason due to them offering arbitration and then having those players decline it and sign with another team. If they accept arbitration, we get the guys next year.
  19. The sad thing is, they would probably come and take them away from everyone. I saw a few guys last year that had sign ripping KW. Some security guys came down and took them away. Hell, we were told to stop using our plastic staduim horns because "they distract the players". I guess they don't want us to disturb them and possibly wake them up. Yet it's perfectly fine for the Twins to play in a plastic bag where the reverberation is terrible and the sound is triple would it should be? f*** that.
  20. he took them to a championship last year too...... Yeah, I knew that....but he had a little offense last year too. I know he had Olivo, who had an incredibly good year, and Miles, who hit like .330.....and I'm probably forgetting so many others that I'm making an ass of myself. So who were the others last year, do you remember?
  21. Nonetheless our team was competitive and played well at times, but not enough to beat their division nemesis the twins when it mattered the most. If we built around Lee and Ordonez, we'd be done for. Bad things would happen.
  22. Wally would be a great choice, IMO, even if this is a veteran team next year. He would set the right mentality for the players, and we'd see some major moves too. If players didn't play hard, they wouldn't play at all. That would work for me. The fact that Backman took the Barons to the playoffs this year(I think he did, didn't he), with as little offense as they had, that's incredible. I think he would light a fire under this team's ass and make them want to play....and had he managed the team this year, the Sox would have already clinched.
  23. If this is true, it is not all bad. I don't think he would need to be used as the starting SS because, at his age, his skills have obviously gotten worse. So what I'm thinking they could do is use him as a super utility player. We know he can play SS, and if you can play SS, you can play EVERY infield position there is, aside from catcher(which he could be used as in an emergency). He also played a little CF in 2001, and while it wasn't pretty, he could also play there. What I'm thinking he could do is be a guy that gets 3-4 starts a week and give a guy a day off. It would give us a decent bat off the bench, a guy with great baseball instincts, and it still gives us the option to use him as our starter at SS if we can't bring anyone in. He can be used at, for example, 3rd base if Crede gets into a huge slump, or something to that extent. Probably won't happen if he is resigned, but it is a possibility....especially with a better manager.
  24. And some of those years, we almost did get them. And then in some of those years, we DID get them. Had it not been for the strike, that could have been our year.
