Cerb....just curious....do you know what round Holt was drafted in?
-
When you get compliments like that from a manager....it is special....and then you have to consider that he is doing this in Arizona....whoo is right. We could very easily have the best bullpen in the majors....and the best offense...and, if a lot goes right(and I mean A LOT), we could have the best rotation too....that would mean Buehrle and Colon would have to keep up their success, Garland and Wright would both have to have ERAs under 4.00(and Garland probably under 3.50) and Rauch would have to be rookie of the year, giving us a 13-10 4.00 season or something of the likes. That's wishful thinking.....but we could still have the best offense, the best bullpen and a damn good rotation too...and our bench is quite deep as well.
-
You know....the more and more I'm seeing out of Garland(statistically)....the more and more I'm getting excited.....and cautious. I don't want him to pitch lights out in ST, giving hitters something to look forward to and then have him suck ass in the regular season. But who can't like 1 run in 14 batters? That's money.
-
As long as his legs are strong....he will be fine. He gets his power from those tree trunks....and is a great pitcher because of it.
-
I am seeing that we are tied with the Giants 1-1 in the 5th or so....just wondering, who is pitching today and how did we get our run?
-
Deal/trade time. No way you put Caballo in CF but you can't bench him to put Borchard in LF either. The way it is now, if JB plays, you have to put him in CF. I was just merely stating that I think JB could be more effective defensively in LF. Lee will be dealt at the deadline....and we will have Daubach/Borchard in LF and Rowand in CF....and Borchard can play CF as well with Rowand moving over to LF. It all works in the end. If we can get a constant lineup going, that'd be great.

According to my Godson it's not out yet and wont be for another 10 days. I take it he has already told you whats on his wish list My theory is, get it and make him only play as the SOX You got to teach them while there young Of course.. actually he told me a few weeks ago. And no worries about teaching him the ways of the south side. When he was just 2 and we would say Sammy Sosa he would plug his nose like something stunk. Now we've got my neice doing the same thing. And even better, she knows the Cubs uniforms and says "poo poo" and points to the TV when they are on. Awww, how adorable

Or maybe it's because no other team "threw" the World Series? Hmmm....I may be onto something there. And cw....we rarely disagree with baseball...but come football season....
-
Clujer...I'm sure that'd work too....but you must consider who our GM is. He tends to overpay a little bit, and if Hummel were to be a 3Bman for KC, and they want a 2Bman too....and other than Jimenez, we don't have much to offer. And consider the fact that both Jimenez and Miles have very little major league experience...and in the end, I'm fine with the deal. We have Harris and Graffy that I could deal with if necessary because Miles sucked...we could use Jorge Nunez if necessary....or KW could trade for someone. It would all work out in the end.
-
Holy crap....if we wanted to, we could get Beltran from KC easily....I know it's a little off-topic...but I promise to get somewhat back on topic shortly. OK, if Jimenez keeps playing crappy defense....we could make a trade of, say, Lee, Jimenez, Hummel, and maybe a pitching prospect or two that only has a small chance of being any good(like Adkins and/or Ginter). In return, we get Beltran....who plays CF for us and Rowand moves over to LF(keeping him in the everyday lineup). This move also improves our outfield's defense tremendously, giving us much more range than the lawn gnome in LF and Beltran in CF. Miles than takes over 2B and we are set. Our lineup is... Miles Valentin Thomas Ordonez Beltran Konerko Crede Rowand Olivo Or something to that extent Just a thought to get the time moving a little faster....we lose some OBP with the departure of CLee....but we get an increase in team speed(slightly), better defense in the outfield and smarter baserunners....or in other words, we are a better fundamental team.
-
It's nice to win one...they don't mean anything, I know....but it is nice to win our very first game of the year.
-
Adkins blows!!! :puke
-
Konerko's having a pretty good ST up to this point....he had that last year and he put up an incredible first half. Let's hope he keeps it up throughout the whole year this year.

Without Comiskey....we'd be cheering for another team. That is no big deal. Had the White Sox never been created, we would never have known about them and we'd all be cheering for like the Phillies or something like that....maybe a different person would have founded the White Sox....but point blank, Comiskey was an asshole. I don't give a rat's ass that he started the White Sox...he treated his players like s*** and was probably the biggest motive behind the Black Sox scandal. If you think Comiskey is the greatest because he started the White Sox....then you must be the type of person that likes Blondie because she created rap. Anyways....there's some stuff on the Black Sox scandal on ESPN Classic tonight(like Sports Century or something), I believe like around 7 ET time....and then Eight Men Out is on. I figure I'll check it out.

For what it matters...Hoffman and Foulke are similar pitchers, both relying heavily on a very good changeup. I like 98 MPH closer-types because of the fact that even on a bad night they can get the save....I don't like them because on a good night they can still blow a save. When Foulke has a bad night, the game is pretty much over and you will lose....because he will be hit around quite a bit. But when he has a good night....the game is over too, and you will win. With fireballers....you never know what you're gonna get, regardless of how their stuff is on a particular night. That being said....we lost a good backup catcher in the deal and a reliever who had the best arm in the organization...and we got a potential starter out of the deal and an outfielder with a little pop from the left side of the plate. We'll need both Cotts and Holt to be huge and for Koch to close atleast 100 games for us in these three years that he is year to make this a good trade...because otherwise, the A's make out like bandits.

I'd agree
-
When the Cubs say goodbye to Jesus since he'll be worth so much, that is when he'll get really good Like Greg Maddux when he signed with the Braves
-
Great article Mario....I agree 100% on everything
-
If these two have great years....we are most definately a World Series contender. If these two pitch like that....we are the best team in the majors.
-
1. Disagree. My reading shows that Jackson took money. These guys were banned because they conspired to throw the World Series and were on the take from gamblers. There does not need to be any other reason than that. (And Cubkilla, it is not what you you, it is when you hit it, and it is also how you play defense - being a step slow, the throw being a tad off and slow, etc. You know that these things cannot be "proved" now with all the participants dead. But the suspicions arose at the time by the people who saw the Sox suddenly play like bush leaguers and in a a few games suddenly turn it back on again. It was obvious to those who saw it.) 2. And this puts me in the odd position of disagreeing with you not only once, but also twice. Veeck may have been the most fun owner ever but it was hardly the best. In both of his tenures with the Sox he traded away our future and had all kinds of questionable trades. Call it being uncapitalized, call it being a riverboat gambler, call it having a very short attention span - his periods of ownership were (mercifully) brief, he always felt compelled to go on and do something different, but he left us depleted both times. Then we'll agree to disagree....no need to drone on about a non-topic. Both happened well before my time and I've only read about them, and we have a baseball season up ahead of us.

That's because you are a minuteman LMFAO!!!

I don't give a flying f***....they're all hot as hell!!! On a scale of 1-10....they are all atleast 73's.

I remember that someone posted a link to rotoworld when we signed Daubach and that we also signed about 10000 other guys(ok, only like 6, but you get the point). I remembered the name Brumbaugh when DaSoxRock posted his stats and that he played for Colorado. All I had to do was go back and find the link. When I clicked on it, I got the latest news....so then I went to previous, and didn't find that you could pick dates....so I went backwards again and realize it was hopeless, until I saw the date part of the URL....I found the date of the day we signed Daubach, put it in the URL, and - voila! Kind of simple, I guess. Not sure about Morgan though....we'll hopefully find out someday.

If I did it correctly....Loaiza has a 40.50 ERA. Yeah, he's good
