  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) And here's officer zoom shooting down another proposal. Monta Ellis? He sucks. He just hogs the ball and can't shoot. Michael Beasley? hahahaha. What a moron. He can't play. He smokes pot. Aldridge? hahaha. He shoots too many jumpers. He doesn't rebound enough. Lamb? Yeah, he's only 21 and played 12 games this year, but no. He's not efficient enough. I swear you secretly work for the bulls. How else could you be so bland and boring? Just so we are clear, Beasley, as the #2 pick, has been a colossal bust thus far. Yes, he's played well off the bench this year - in limited minutes for the best team since the Jordan Bulls. We should probably hold off on throwing the parade.

There was talk about how he wouldn't be able to get the shots off in time, but in the Bullsh!t episode I referenced earlier, Penn Jillette himself fires off 3 shots with the same exact gun in the time he would have taken Oswald. That is debunked too.
  3. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 08:46 AM) ‘Fallout 4′ May Be Announced Next Week I really hope this is true. /jizzes uncontrollably
  4. Put up the most points in the league this week. Pretty sure I'm like top 2-3 in points over the last 5 weeks. Won 4 of 5. None of this matters because only 4 out of 12 teams go to the playoffs and I'm currently 4-8, tied for last in my division. Oh bother
  5. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 06:07 PM) Isn't it possible that Dunn's value is higher right now than it will be at the break though? He was having a pretty good 2nd half until he fell flat out his face his last month. What if he is hitting .195/.320 with 12 HR's at the deadline? We could easily end up stuck with him for the entire season. I'm not saying we should flat out dump him, but I think Hanhn should be doing his due diligence on moving him (if there is a market at all). I agree that $5 million should be the limit of what we should be willing to chip in though. Sure, it probably is. The problem is that the difference in what you are expecting and what you would get is too significant at this point. I just don't see any way any team is going go take Dunn. As I have pointed out before, Hafner signed for $2 mill last year. He was more injury prone, but expecting a team to TRADE for Dunn while taking pm $10 mill is frankly expecting too much. Come the deadline, you ask for a guy who can hit it a long ways or can throw it 95 mph and you're happy no matter what his numbers look like and teams are more willing to take a chance on a guy like Dunn. If they can deal him, great, grand, wonderful. I don't see it happening.
  6. On the contrary, I find this to be a really nice deal for LA. Over his final 15 starts, Dan Haren put up opponent splits of .228/.271/.355/.626, a K/9 of just under 9, a K.BB of 4.67, a WHIP of 1.05, and an ERA of 3.29. Frankly, I see 8 starts in which is was truly bad all of last year. For a #5 starter, that's perfectly fine, because he was damn near dominant in the other 22, and those are areas he can improve as well.
  7. The third biggest myth about JR is that he is also Superman. This is simply untrue. His second identity is The Thing.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) Trading Dunn + anything over $5M for anything less than a good prospect would be such a dumb move. I am no Dunn fan, but if the SOX have any chance at competing next year, Dunn is going to have a big year. If he does have a big year, you can move him midseason for a decent prospect and probably kick in no $$. Paying Dunn $10M to play on another team all season is not a good move. $10 mill is the bare minimum. I'd rather not give up more than $5 million, but if the prospect coming back is good enough, you can do it because it serves essentially the same purpose as trading him on July 31st in that instance. You can't include $10 million and then get Mr. 83 MPH Fastball in return. The most likely scenario is that Dunn is the Sox cleanup hitter on Opening Day.
  9. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 01:29 PM) That's why I was saying include some cash For it to make sense for the Pirates to bring Dunn in to be a platoon partner, the White Sox would have to eat $13 million of his salary and the Pirates would trade a piece back that is virtually meaningless, not more than organizational depth. Really, for it to make sense for the White Sox, the most they can realistically include is $10 million, and you need a half-ass decent prospect in return in that situation - a player with Brandon Jacobs' ceiling would be fine. If you can't get that, you may as well hang onto Dunn until the trade deadline and attempt to deal him then when the demand is going to be greater for his services and you can likely just get someone to eat the remainder of his salary (or pick up a smaller amount at that time).
  10. The Bulls and Sox money are separate and distinct quantities with distinct and different ownership groups.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 25, 2013 -> 11:03 AM) Thibs has his faults. But the guy changed the game defensively in '08. Give him longer, better athletes (no boozer) and no telling what he could do. Give him a team that's 8-10 deep like the Nuggets were last year and see how far he can go.

Penn and Teller's Bulls*** does a great job covering this too.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Beardless McCann is gonna be weird. Mustachioed McCann is gonna be awesome
  14. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Bourjos will be 27 at the start of next year and has a grand total of 1100 AB's in the majors with a .251/.306/.398 career slash line. Bourjos is hardly penciled into the starting lineup. Exactly. I dont see Bourjos as a starter. He can fill in and provide value just fine, but on a contender, he's a 4th outfielder.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) For trade talks having heated up, the white sox still appear pretty cold. I imagine there's a ton going on behind the scenes right now. Figuring out what's out there, letting teams know who they're willing to give up, determining which moves they want to make (and which ones after that, both in the even they are able to make the first move or not). Come up with plan A, B, C, D, E, F and so on until you get to about MM or NN. Then proceed.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) LOL. He played 11 innings at 3rd base 3 seasons ago and you are calling other people out for cherry picking. OK. Matheny won't play him at 3B. I figure if the guy is athletic enough to play 2B, he can probably play 3B too. Maybe you just play him at 1B, LF, and RF. It's not that big a deal. And I just looked quick, and it's just an idea. Maybe the Cards are setting up a package for Tulo centered around Taveras and Martinez. Who really knows at this point?
  17. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/what-would-...tion-look-like/ If you put Victor Martinez or Ian Kinsler or Torii Hunter or [free agent signing] behind Miguel Cabrera, do you think teams are going to go out of their way on a regular basis to face a hitter who is still pretty damn good, who is followed by another hitter who is still pretty damn good? I really don't think the protection thing is that big of a deal.
  18. Never owned it - always rented it - but just go to eBay and look up Mega Man X3 on the SNES. And I am not talking box, cartridge, and manual. Just the cartridge.
  19. It's not ideal, but Matheny could certainly use Craig as a swiss army knife again. The only 3 positions he didn't play in 2011 were SS, C, and P. If you move him around to 1B, 3B, LF, and RF while DHing when they play in AL parks, he could easily get 500 PAs.
  20. QUOTE (WSFan @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) Thanks for the explanation! Looking at this kids track record I think last year was him trying to do too much...especially in double A. Way too many walks for a sinker baller. That's why I was surprised Tampa gave up on him so fast, 6th rounder and just 2 1/2 years with good to very good success initially. We shall see! It could be any number of things. He might only be hitting 85 or 87 with his fastball; they may have been counting on him developing a secondary pitch and it didn't happen; he may be uncoachable; he may provide a poor attitude in the clubhouse otherwise; they may have been trying to clear room for spots at the AA roster and didn't have room for him on the AAA roster (Rule 5 related); he may have requested his release. Guys typically don't get released when they're that young for no reason. The fact is, we simply don't know why they released him.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) Dan Burawa, Chad James, Deck McGuire Burawa is intriguing because he supposedly has a big, big arm. 93-96 with a ton of sink and a good curve. I don't think the Sox want to waste a pick like that on a reliever though. I've said it before, but if you want him, and he passes through the Rule 5 draft, you can just trade for him later. It's obvious the team wants nothing to do with him, so some kind of after thought will get the guy for you. The other guys have put up just awful numbers, regardless of stuff. If they're drafted, they'll probably be returned. The guy I want at this point is Carlos Perez from the Astros...and that's about it.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) Tavares, Adams or Craig. Who's the odd man out? None of the above. Holliday-Taveras-Craig - OF Adams - 1B Bourjos - OF Jay - traded
  23. I also want to clarify the causation of the Jews surviving the Holocaust and such. They didn't survive BECAUSE they didn't have guns. They survived DESPITE not having guns. If you one day those hungry, starving, naked Jews didn't have guns, and the next they just suddenly did have guns, what do you think would happen?
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) Well Final Fantasy VII is a pretty fun game for the PS1 and I really dont feel like grinding Cloud back to a good enough level to beat Ruby/Emerald? Then I own a bunch of PS2 and PS3 games (which PS4 wont play), so I really have no idea why I wouldnt keep my previous system. Not to mention it runs Netflix and can be used as a blu ray player in another room. Does not seem like good value to trade that in for what $200-$300? Ultimately the PS3 I own is rare and its rareness is worth more than the trade in for someone like me. But then again, I still own every system Ive ever had since NES. This is almost true for me, except that I gave my SNES away (and all the games) to a friend I know I will be in contact with for the rest of my life. So, really, I still own all of my systems too. The next time I see him, I'll tell him if you are ever planning on selling that thing, just give it back because I will fire that sucker up when I'm 50.
