You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) De Aza is a retread and a butcher on the field. While his stats are even/arguable to those two, I don't see his worth in a trade equating to the two. That's just me though. Span is a legit CFer. He's having a tough year at the plate but he is something else in CF. I think you can get a pretty good prospect for De Aza for sure. He's better in a corner but he can play a passable CF. And, frankly, there's no reason he shouldn't be traded. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Microsoft set to announce today that Kinect is no longer a requirement for Xbox One. Way to listen to consumers. No price drop though. Well then s***, you may as well buy it with Kinect and then sell the Kinect on its own.

Worth mentioning, though all of those guys hit, they did not hit for Cleveland, so really that trade should be evaluated as Sizemore and Lee for Colon. Phillips was the main piece in that deal, and he was a monstrosity of a bust for Cleveland before figuring it out in Cincinnati. That's a goofy trade to evaluate and a good look-in to see a trade that really worked out well for a team but never at the right time, which is a problem of rebuilding. Sizemore was great for a couple years and has since fizzled and become a shell of his former self. Lee was decent, really bad, and then really good. Phillips never made it in Cleveland but did later on. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) I don't follow. All I did was tell the truth. He is an absolutely incredible player, there's no doubting that. I think we can dispel the rumors of him not being clutch now too.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 01:26 PM) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t...&pid=150337 Has Kip Wells officially announced his retirement? Technically no, but he's not a major league pitcher any more. He made some starts for the Padres last year but he was terrible (and don't let the 4.58 ERA fool you, that was about to balloon up to about 6.58 the way he was giving up baserunners).

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) To me, the only thing worse is "Track Talk" about Nascar. Love college football, and used to love the NFL when my favorite team (Dolphins) was good back in the 80's and 90's, but yeah....it's the most inane thing in world, listening to hour after hour of talk about the salary cap and off-season workouts, non-contact drills, etc. I think the NFL is running the risk of over-saturating their audience...it's just too much these days. I don't think so. They talk football 12 months out of the year and it's as popular as ever. -
QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 12:49 PM) Buehrle, Garland, and Konerko? Correct, and the one I mentioned is Maggs. Weird to think that was 13 years ago.

From year to eyar he seemingly had a different approach at the plate. I've never seen anyone do quite that. He was a fun hitter. Only 3 guys left from that 2000 team that are still active (though there's 1 that I don't think has announced his retirement).

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 10:49 AM) The sun'll come out tomorrow Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun Just thinkin' about tomorrow Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow till there's none When I'm stuck with a day that's gray and lonely I just stick out my chin and grin and say The sun'll come out tomorrow So you got to hang on till tomorrow, came what may! Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow You're always a FIVE YEARS away Actually, tomorrow is always a day away. If tomorrow were 5 years away, we'd be in a lot of trouble for a lot of different reasons. -
I really think moving Bosh would be a mistake. He was terrible offensively in the series but he made up for it and more with his defense and rebounding down low. If they could get him onto the elbow and down low more often, he'd be a really dangerous player. Instead, he's shooting from the top of the key and from 3, and he's just terrible at both of those.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Until. Players slump. Dunn is no different. Yet people rip on his incessantly when he does so, which is sort of unfair considering how s***ty this team is all around.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) That's why I think if they did it's nothing but a salary dump. You're last statement really makes no sense. Real world and baseball economics are apple and oranges. Baseball economics resemble congress. They aren't going to trade him while he's on the DL. If they trade him, it will be when he's healthy. Oh, and buy low, sell high, retain good investments while ridding yourselves of poor ones. There's obviously some empathy when it comes to baseball economics due the fact that you are dealing with people as commodities rather than outright commodities, but the principles remain very much the same.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) I'm not forgetting that but they're going to need Wade to be Wade next year. If he's not they will not win the championship. Taking nothing away from the Heat(well maybe a little ) but there were just stars everywhere that were injured. It should be a much better NBA next yr and if Wade isn't Wade then the Heat are going to be worse no matter what vets they pick up. LeBron just keeps getting better and better, but they either need to incorporate Bosh more (if they keep him) or they are going to get worse. Wade simply can't stay healthy for 100+ games or whatever he ends up playing and it's only going to get worse in time.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) I know, but Reed and Crain would. No, they wouldn't. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) You still have to show up. He's damaged goods. You will not get much for him right now. Right now, no. That's why you don't trade him RIGHT NOW. You trade him when he's shown he's healthy and productive, which he will do when he comes back from the DL. And if you want to say he's "damaged goods" as if referring to his arm, then you are also wrong. He suffered a rather freak injury because who breaks their rib getting their back cracked? Peavy's value will be just fine and there's no rush to deal him. Also, I really hope you are not an investment analyst.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) There's a difference between respecting the past and clinging to it. There's never, ever been a player like LeBron James. The 4th quarter and OT of game 6 and all of tonight just proved that. He impacts the game in more ways than any player ever. His defensive versatility, rebounding, play-making and tonight with the jumper. LeBron, like MJ at the same age, has it on lock now. Well, that's ridiculous. How much Magic Johnson did you watch in the early 80s? I admit to having watched zero Magic Johnson in the early 80s, but that's because my parents were out whooping it up still and only just beginning to start making babies. But if you are going to tell me that there's never been a player like LeBron James - a 6'8 freak of an athlete who can run an offense, shoot, drive, pass, rebound, and defend, then you are wrong. In fact, Magic Johnson was all of that and more, considering he also had position versatility, which is something LeBron could not do. I'm not arguing who's better - I have my opinion, you have yours, and I'm quite sure we disagree. All I'm debating is that there's never been a player like LeBron when quite clearly there has.

So....now that the major league team sucks........

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 06:35 AM) Since the Sox need catching, there is a AAA catcher available who is hitting about .330. Can't remember his name. Fegley?? I hear he is available because his current parent team won't bring him up. Weird, I'm sure they are completely unaware of his presence and they don't have some other motive for keeping him in the minors and it has nothing to do with the jar of crickets he left in manager McEwing's office. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) Danks contract has now officially become a albatross. Hate the fact the signed him to that long a deal. Today had no effect on that. -

I'm guessing you spilled rather than yakked. Still. I think I can drink that stuff with a level 5 hangover.

QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 03:12 PM) I love Oberon. I don't think I've had a better "summer" beer. I don't think I've ever had a better beer period. It's so crisp, deep, and smooth, and it's 5.8% booze. You can get seriously lit up on that stuff.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Pierce may sign as a FA. However, the reason the Clippers are doing this is they think Paul is out if they don't. I love how much leverage NBA players have. It's just crazy. This is the kind of thing that makes teams trade for Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions and hire Byron Scott.

Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?
witesoxfan replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 03:04 PM) I doubt Robin will just want to quit, since he was such a good competitor as a player, but his legacy is going to be pretty much stained after 3-4 more years of this crap. And going young, young, young will probably guarantee some 55-65 win seasons. Robin as the scapegoat or the manager of some of our worst teams in history seems wrong. Tom Kelly is considered by many to be the best manager in Twins history. His career record is 1140-1244, including 4 90+ loss years where the team was void of talent. Beyond that, I highly doubt they go young, young, young. They'll do a slight rebuild.
