QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) What kind of beer should I get for tonight? OBERON true story, I went to pick up beer for the game last night. I was all "I'm gonna get something different than a 6-pack of Oberon." So I got a 12 pack of Oberon

Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?
witesoxfan replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's not the GM's job or role to evaluate talent. It's his job to make decisions based on information he has. EDIT: Being able TO evaluate talent is nice, but it is absolutely not necessary. Hahn saw what this team was and put into it what he felt he could. Spending any more than they did would have been irresponsible, and now they can get ready to add a few pieces. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) So you think they go with Flowers/Phegley the last few months? That would make sense, as I agree it would be nice to have some type of idea whether or not Phegley is overmatched at this level. Absolutely. You can put Gimenez out to pasture. He's been a good backup catcher, but more than anybody else on the team, his roster spot is virtually meaningless. Nobody is going to cry if and when someone claims Hector Gimenez off waivers. -
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) I think Hawk hates STEVE9347. My sources confirm this.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) To people who repeat the same thing over and over about the Sox losing being the way to go and how we should be happy about it. ... a.) Yes we understand the worst record you have, the greater chances are of getting an impact player in the draft. b.) Some of us frankly don't care about the draft as long as baseball has a system in which it takes a long time usually for draftees to make it to the bigs, unlike basketball and football. In other words, please let us root for the Sox to win if we like to live in the present and win games. You may think we're stupid, but some of us don't give a flying f*** about the draft compared to winning baseball games and not being an embarrassment of a team on a daily basis. Nobody is stopping you from hoping they win. It's not like I get upset when they win right now. There are those who want to lose, but for me, I just don't care when they lose right now. I really don't care about the results of the game. I enjoy watching them still (to an extent), and you want players to do well, but the win or the loss really doesn't matter. -
It keeps getting better. He destroyed his home security system AND his cell phone, and hired a professional cleaning service to clean his house yesterday. No way he's not going to end up doing some serious jail time.

There are reportedly now 2 additional incidents involving Hernandez, drinking, and night clubs. He's apparently an angry dude. That's 4, including a murder. One of them saw a handgun being discarded.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) Well that would be the best, but video game developers are greedy and want you to have to buy multiple versions of the same product. Which is partially when Im not a big fan of everything being online. DLC is already messing with games. I swear some games are being released unfinished because they can just go back and add in DLC for $5. How much money has Ubisoft made because of all the different AC installations? There was a time when you bought the game once and got the whole thing and it took 60 hours to beat. /damnkidsgetoffmylawn We are in total agreement on this.

Keppinger is among them. Dunn and Viciedo could be too.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 11:06 AM) A wise GM would give little to nothing for Peavy and make you pay part of his salary. They only thing Peavy has excelled at is going on the DL. "Don't mind me, I'm just Jake Peavy putting up a 3.37 ERA over 219 innings. You know, being an ace, doing ace things. I named my fastball Muhammad Ali because it's impossible to hit." This "wise GM" will not be receiving Jake Peavy in a trade. Just because you don't think highly of Jake Peavy does not mean the league does not think highly of Jake Peavy.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 11:20 AM) It is personal preference. And in my opinion the market shows that more people prefer the option to buy physical media. Why do I believe this? Steam has been in existence since 2003 and many hardcore gamers still buy physical media for many different reasons. Steam is great for a $5 game, not so great for a $60 game. Since consoles are generally aimed towards the $60 game it doesnt make sense to remove the option to buy physical games. I assume that both Xbox and PS will allow you to purchase games online and download them to your machine (they already do, Ive bought some old Final Fantasy games for $10), so it wont hurt anyone to have the optical drive, because the dl system is already there. Why people dont want choice is mid boggling. They already do both. I can dl full games on my PS right now. Right, you can install games from the disc too to speed up loading times, but you still can't install the game and then play it. That's what I want...to BUY the physical media, THEN install it, THEN not need the disc again. You need an activation code to prevent pirating and stealing games, but I want that option too. OR why shouldn't I be able to download a game once I have a physical copy and new activation code. I'd like to download Fallout 3 to my system, as I did with Left 4 Dead 2, but I will have to pay for the digital copy of it. Why should I? I've already bought the physical copy.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 11:03 AM) Seriously? Having 2 drives is becoming the norm. You run applications from the SSD and use the SATA for storage. Any disc based storage system is quickly becoming dated. Of those people that don't have the Internet...how many can't tether to connect once a day? Of those people, how many can even afford a $500 console. It's a demographic that doesn't exist. Mercedes doesn't make a s***ty version of their cars for people that can't afford them either. Comparing XBox and Microsoft's business model to a car company's is a poor comparison to begin with, but comparing them to Mercedes is worse. They are far more like Ford/GM/Chrysler in that they want a car in every single driveway in America, not to sell luxury vehicles to the wealthy. Yeah, some people can't afford it, which is why they're still playing an old and often used original XBox. Doesn't mean you should stop marketing to them.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) What if I told you that the White Sox losing is better than the White Sox winning? We're 4 behind the Astros for worst record in the league. Worst record in the league doesn't do anything unless it's worst record in the majors. 8 games behind the Marlins and they simply aren't going to, errr, win that battle. -
Seriously, why can't we do both? Have each game come with an activation code. If you want to install the game onto your system and return/sell the physical media, you can (for less than retail price, obviously). If you just want to use the game disc itself, you can. I don't see what's so hard about that.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Lol Microsoft the damage has already been done No. This is a fan boy-ish statement. The system isn't going to be released for another 6 months. People have plenty of time to forget what Microsoft was going to do. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) Can't wait for a two or three years from now when they release the patch adding all this stuff back in after everyone already has it When has something like this ever happened?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) I so can't wait to get drunk tonight. The past week and a half has not been easy on my liver, but I'll fight through. There's no way I'm not drinking tonight for the game tonight, and it starts an hour earlier too.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) Well, it is still 500 bucks. Mr. Smartypants, these are the 15th and 16th definitions of the word deal: I said it like the 15th definition, but you interpreted it as the 16th. LEARN TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN Yes, it's still expensive as s*** and I am not buying either right away. When/if I do, it's going to be a PS4 because I don't play XBox exclusives all that often.

Suddenly, the XBox One doesn't look like such a bad deal.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 02:50 PM) I still think its the most natural position for him. As an H-Back, yeah. Move him around the formation and get mismatches, ala Aaron Hernandez or Chris Cooley. If you use him as a traditional inline tight end, he'd get blown the f up.
