QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 6, 2013 -> 09:23 AM) Even at the end of the main campaign, Deathclaws are still ridiculously tough. I didn't pick up NV until a few years after it was released, so I never had to deal with the inevitable Bethesda launch bugs. I was the same, but there were times it was still a bit buggy for me. Pretty sure I had a maxed out character with super guns, and if you came across 3-4 deathclaws coming at you, you were freaking screwed. Oh, and deathclaw promontory is stupid awesome.

Who do you blame for the current state of the team?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 6, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) FO3 was a good game, but New Vegas was much better if you haven't checked that one out yet. Much glitchier though too. And dear god, until you are ready, some of those monsters just destroy the ever living s*** out of you.

Huge haul expected for Stanton (Reds?) as Ozuna Era Begins
witesoxfan replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
There are about 10 teams where you could argue Stanton would put them "over the top." -
He had a pretty nice curve coming up too, even in his first year, but he has pretty much long since abandoned that thing.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 3, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) A few years ago I caught a four ball (bare handed I might add) and there were two kids next to me. I gave one of them the ball. Their dad works with mine and I later found out it made their day and they loved the ball. Not to gloat, but THAT is what you SHOULD do. That's what they did in this video, but that b**** probably said something like "can I see the ball?" and then proceeded to throw it onto the field like a dumbf***. -

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:20 PM) Damn. Really? You'd have so many crabs there would be a line of hobos following you around with metal detectors like "there's gotta be some gold in this motherf***er." Cuz they'd think you're a beach. That was my attempt at a joke. Those usually don't work out for me so well. Jokes that is. I have low standards. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) I wanna give Lu a hug I'd prefer to give him a bowl of chicken noodle soup wearing a Hazmat suit.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Number of f***s given for your opinion..... 0. Think about that in terms of Erik Johnson and Scott Snodgress. Erik Johnson has better stuff, so, in this example, you'd be hoping that Snodgress performed worse so Johnson got a shot. That's absolutely crazy. Nevermind the fact that Axelrod absolutely destroyed the minor leagues while Santiago clearly did not. It doesn't matter anymore, they're both in the rotation now, for better or worse.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) But if they dumped him for less than what was perceived as market value at the time the argument goes the other way. The Sox have been shopping him for years with no realistic takers in their eyes. Well then it depends on what their offers were and what they were expecting. Their perceptions were quite clearly different than everyone else's perceptions, and at some point, your perceptions could very well be off. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) Yeah, unsurprisingly, when healthy players are on the court playing, I tend to want to root for them. When healthy players are jumping up and down on the sidelines and throwing down insane pre-game dunks, and then sitting out games, I tend to get frustrated. If Jay Cutler were doing this, I don't think it'd be safe for him to show his face in public or even leave his house.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:41 AM) You also need to win. So if someone's at peak value, in theory, they are the most valuable to your team at that point. Players aren't just stocks. Nats should dump Bryce Harper before his stock goes down. I think you are just arguing the point and not Floyd specifically. I agree with your point, but Floyd was obviously not at his peak value. He was worth a lot more in the offseason than he would have been at the deadline, and he's obviously worthless in a trade now. -
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 3, 2013 -> 10:57 AM) I find the anti Rose sentiment here rather amusing considering that in less than a year you guys will be firmly and comfortably on the DR1 bandwagon. Chicago sports teams fans, gotta love 'em. Rose is not immune from criticism. Beyond that, I don't think anybody says "I hate Derrick Rose and I will never forgive him." In fact, I think everybody has accepted that, once he comes back, they'll likely forget about this. It doesn't change the fact that he should have attempted to come back at some point this season. If it's too uncomfortable, just sit out the rest of the year - at least he tried then. Oh, and this would be true of every team's fans in any sport, don't just pin this on Chicago fans.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:13 AM) I'm pretty sure Milkman is a cop, so he probably knows Holy f***, if he is a cop, then I am pretty sure I could get away with anything in his town. If he pulled me over, I'd just be all, "Curt Hennig blah blah blah GREATEST EVER. That's why blah blah blah blah and he's named MR. PERFECT"

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 09:51 AM) No, I never said that. I said in that game a week or two ago that a 10-8 Sox win in which Axelrod gives up 8 runs would be a perfect scenario because the Sox would get the win, the bullpen would have dominated, the offense would have obviously dominated, and it may give Santiago the chance to steal Axe's job. This was the start following the outing against WAS in which Axe was just awful. I just want to say that this is the most ridiculous post I've ever read in my life.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) Is Shields teaching his cutter to some of the Royals' pitchers? Supposedly, that was one of the main reasons Maddon wanted him out in TB, along with his increasing salary...and his leadership/veteran status in the clubhouse, he was pretty influential and outspoken. They (the Rays as an organization) felt that the best way to lose velocity quickly was overreliance on the cutter, and Shields is a big proponent of that pitch....whereas the Rays teach their minor leaguers to use a fastball, change and then curve and slider is the least favored option but they live with it. The biggest worry about Santana is his stuff. His K ratio has been way down, along with his velocity. Maybe he's learning how to be a better pitcher (see Jake Peavy) and can no longer rely on blowing people away. However, over time, the more contact you're giving up...the good results tend to even out with those BABIP stats if they're out of whack. I'd never heard any of that, and it's a bit interesting to say the least. I've never noticed Shields' cutter before, only his wicked changeup. That Royals team can hit and they are going to do it all f***ing year. They look like a .500+ team at the very least.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) One example of this board not being fair to AJ was when those PED rumors popped up last year. Many here wanted them to be true. Said they had to be true. These same people wanted AJ replaced by Flowers, a guy who actually was suspended for PEDs. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86905 I will let you find the people who wanted those rumors to be true. I read about 75 posts and all I generally saw was "this would suck but this would also make sense, thankfully Flowers looks like he can 'handle' [sic] it." I think I saw two people say they were either "happy" about it or they believed his PED rumors to be true. QUOTE (Baron @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) Those same people also said that we wouldnt miss AJ because of the defensive juggernaut that is Flowers. Plus magic was supposed to kick in and he would stop striking out. And to you the same. If you are going to be bold enough to put words in people's mouths, then find the proof. Nobody that I know has ever said that Flowers would be a "defensive juggernaut" or anything along those lines. They've felt that Flowers is good defensively and that he'll be effective offensively. I've seen people suggest that Flowers will be better than Pierzynski this year - I've been among those. --- This kind of s***, more than anything else on the wide world of the internet, infuriates me the most. If you are going to say people said something, find the proof before you stick your foot in your mouth.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) That should be taught in primary and secondary school. Those are not academic subjects, at least in the way they are going to be taught to these students. I agree completely, and for a couple of main reasons. First, if you are going based on the Marxist theory presented by Tex, then you want your blue collar laborers - those likely to be done with schooling after high school - to be knowledgable of health and nutrition. Extending their lives and, thus, their working careers should be of utmost importance. Secondly, your university systems should be breeding grounds for independent thought and courses like philosophy (which I regrettably never enrolled in) and literature do those sorts of things. These people will work, but they are likely to lead longer lives simply because they are far likelier to work white collar jobs where their health will deteriorate at a slower rate (other than through gluttony and laziness).
