  1. I love Alexei as much as anybody, but Cheat brought up a point on his blog a while back...he basically looked back on the fact that it appeared the White Sox had their SS of the future in Juan Uribe, who coincidentally played 2B in 04, and he turned into garbage. Juan Uribe also had a better year in 2004 than Alexei did in 08, though Alexei had a slightly better contact rate. Not predicting doom and gloom, just suggesting it might not all be roses for Alexei in the future, no matter how much fun he was this past season.
  2. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Oakland made a 4 yr 48 mil offer for Furcal - so I dont think they have ANY use for Crosby Conveniently, neither do the White Sox.
  3. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) OK. Well this is what we need. Cesar Izturis? good contact hitter, draws the occasional walk, can steal a base, and can lay down a bunt. He'd be just fine by me as a bench player, but he'd have to cost less than $2 mill. I'd prefer Uribe back, but I don't see that as an option anymore. Uribe, for all intents and purposes, is exactly what KHP described, other than the cheap aspect. Can more than hold his own defensively across the infield and can come off the bench and do a serviceable job.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Finally had time to check. YOu lied to me. he's a FA at the end of 09. oh I thought you were just talking about 09 in general. I misread but meant the same thing. I originally thought he was just an arbitration eligible player, but that wouldn't make sense in the least, because then Oakland would just non-tender him. Yeah, he's a free agent after this season...and he still sucks and the White Sox should have no use for him.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) Is Crosby under contract/arb eligible/option year in 2010? under contract for $5.25 mill Crosby's name should never be brought up by Williams.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) Daniels’s main problem is his height. Tebow’s is that as soon as one of his legs gets knocked out from under him, he’s got very little else to rely on. His arm’s average and most of his success relies on a specific set of speedy WRS suited to his type of passing game. Things aren’t going to come as easy for him in the pros. Don't mind the fact that Chase Daniels has Jeremy Maclin, who is one of only 5 receivers in the Big 12 to have 1000+ yards receiving, whereas Florida's top two receivers, Harvin and Murphy, have a combined 1072 receiving yards on the year. Also don't mind that Tebow has the highest completion percentage, the 4th most yards, the most touchdowns thrown, the best TD/INT ratio, the fewest INT's thrown of QBs with atleast 92 attempts (Tebow has 225, BTW), and the highest QB rating in the conference either, and that's not mentioning anything about his running ability. I'm not about to say Tebow's worth a top 5, top 15 or even first round pick because Stafford's the best QB prospect in the SEC and arguably the nation, but I'd rate Tebow much higher than I would Chase Daniel.
  7. It's funny...this past week, a stuffy nose turned into a sinus infection, runny nose, and a bronchitis like cough, and that has since turned into chest congestion and a fever of 102.6. If this keeps up tomorrow, I'm probably going to see a doctor.
  8. Hey the Bills beat a s***ty team again. What a surprise
  9. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...=52975&st=0 I definitely did not remember that. The Red Sox are dumb as hell.
  10. QUOTE (beck72 @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) This sounds like a back up plan if the Mets don't land KRod. See what the money and years are, and if they can't land KRod, get Jenks. He's the next best option out there for closer, via trade or free agency. Doesn't sound too out there. The "Jenks has lost MPH on his FB", "declining K rate" talk might be from other teams to lower the cost of Jenks. Yet he's a better bet than Fuentes. And even Krod has some injury concerns. I don't quite understand how Jenks is a better bet than Fuentes. Fuentes has been rock solid the past 4 seasons in Colorado.
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) I predict Howell sucks ass next season. No matter what team he is on I believe teams will have him figured out. He has good stuff and I think he'll be fine. He might have a Matt Thornton 2007 type year, but that doesn't mean he'll never be good again. He's not a guy like Cotts, whose entire arsenal was a hitch in his delivery that made him hard to pick up.
  12. just went on the rocks...I couldn't find a blender to use, otherwise I would have done that. I had like 4 of them and I was pretty hammered, so it's safe to say I had a damn good night.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 02:42 AM) f*** that dhit, yo ucan vbe like me and never get habgovers, its called gatoriade. Beer got to Slav again
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 09:24 AM) I obviously read many, many minds and channeled them all for what can only be described as the most brilliant post in all of Soxtalk history. You are 2nd at best.
  15. I brought America up but it's kind of like doing the same thing every weekend at that point. Doing different countries is fun because then it forces you to drink something else. I'm now glad I did.
  16. I've finally gotten around to making the rum runner. F'in A, that's delicious.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) Sorry, I just hopped in... what's this Manny talk? nothing, someone just threw the name off the wall and I think it's an interesting idea. There's no wheels on that bus, atleast at this moment in time.
  18. The Manny talk is interesting, even if Boras is his agent. KW's had a megaboner for Manny for a long time.
  19. QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) When the f*** did I ever say anything was "fact" about it Everything I have written from my experience playing the game has been my opinion on it.. If it will make you feel better about it, Ill shoot IGN an email telling them that the gameplay sucks.. And to you and everyone else in this thread who love the game you guys need to get a clue.. does that help any? What is fact is that there is better games to spend that kind of money on than Fallout 3, but for those of you who love it by all means knock yourself out I don't give a s***. I just thought that since you were all gushing about how great it was a differing opinion on the game would help people who were reading everything. YOU HAVE RUINED ALL MY DREAMS on topic, I have enjoyed what I've played thus far, which is less than 2 hours.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) I pregamed for the pregame. I really dont know where I went or how I got home. so maybe you did make it to 80s night
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) I think Shane Victorino gets a little bit too much love here. He is a nice player but he really isnt all that great. Nothing he does is all that spectacular, avg is mediocre, doesnt walk too much, not much power in a HR heavy park, and he doesnt even hit all that many doubles for a speedy guy. I'll take 52 XBH's, .280-.290ish average, and a good eye at the plate from a #2 hitter. Victorino is a damn fine player and Philadelphia would be dumb to give him up for Dye straight up.
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) Victorino is good and all, but I think he is overvalued and it would cost more than his production is actually worth. There are better options for the overall success of the team. average, power, speed, defense, good arm, and patience at the plate...how exactly is that overvalued?
