  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) and he drove in all 3 runs we scored. just saying. and his inability to catch a flyball turned into 3 runs scored. So he's sort of even. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) ? Joba f***ing dominated last year
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 12:07 PM) So I was sitting in class today when I finally realized I'm in college. dude it sucks
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) I agree Big Hurt, but it's KW who went out and got Griffey. and Ozzie put him in the lineup
  4. Perhaps well thought out, but I find it ridiculous, and the timing makes it worse. Compare the 2006 team to the 2005 team, and the 2006 team to the 2008 team. You won't find many similarities, yet all 3 teams have been very solid teams. Now compare the 2007 team to all those, and you still won't see many similarities. KW knows how to build a team and I think anyone looking ahead to 2010 is crazy. I also think you are flat out wrong in a lot of regards too. Swisher is a far superior player to Carlos Gomez and if you can't see that, you are friggin blind. Look at the numbers and watch them play. Gomez has a lot of talent, but he's an absolute moron of a baseball player and is pretty similar to Juan Uribe at this point. Giving a slight edge in LF is probably the worst of the all. The White Sox had the surefire MVP of the league in Carlos Quentin who is just as talented as Delmon Young but has actually put it together and is a ridiculously smart and patient hitter...Quentin blows him out of the water. And Morneau should not win the MVP. That should be Pedroia. If Morneau gets it, I couldn't help but feel that it's just Americans wanting Canadians to feel welcome. Finally, you are not considering free agent signings, trades, or draft picks that have yet to be made. The Sox actually make noise in that. The Twins biggest free agent signings over the past 2 years have been Sidney Ponson, Ramon Ortiz, Livan Hernandez, Mike Lamb, and Jeff Cirillo. I don't see any way that Fields is the 3Bman next season, and I would probably put better odds on Crede starting at 3B next year than Fields.
  5. QUOTE (Shadows @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) The Bills right now have the 30th ranked offense and have played a pretty easy 3 games. They aren't the second best team in the AFC, and they sure as hell aren't the #1 team. St. Louis is battling KC for title of worst team in the NFL, so chances are Buffalo could be 5-0 going into the bye and were going to have to hear you continue to talk craziness. AFTER the bye however, they get San Diego, @ Miami, NYJ, @ New England Why don't you wait to see how they do in those 4 games before putting them in the AFC title game. Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Denver, and San Diego are all teams who I would place over Buffalo in the AFC right now. I would even put Baltimore in front of them if they could put points on the board, but since they cant, I wont. The Bills offense needs another playmaker or they need Lynch to turn into one, but they have one of the best OLines in the AFC, especially now that Peters is back. I also think you are severely underrating Arizona, who they play after St. Louis...the Bills have a quick defense, but if the Arizona receivers get behind the coverage, Warner could easily have a field day. I'm more concerned about that game than any of the 3 coming up after that. A couple other points -San Diego's defense is mediocre or possibly even straight up bad, but their offense is ridiculous. That's a team to watch out for, especially if LT2 is healthy, but it's a winnable game. -Ronnie Brown is not a QB; his place in the single wing is essentially how Miami got their only win. That won't continue. -The Jets are not a good team. They probably should have lost to the Dolphins, lost by 2 scores to New England, and got slaughtered by San Diego. I don't believe they are anything more than a 7-9 or 8-8 team. -New England has become underrated since Brady went down, but they are still without Brady. That's still probably the game in the next 2 months that concerns me the most. Personally, I'd rather see them get 7 or 8 wins before November ends before I even consider them a playoff team. I've seen them collapse way too many times in the past 10 or so years.
  6. Vazquez was absolutely terrible tonight, and I don't care if he didn't have his best stuff. FSN North had him registering around 88-92 with his fastball, and I don't remember seeing him use his changeup at all. That Kubel AB was pathetic too...I wonder what happens when you throw a good fastball hitter 6 straight fastballs...? Griffey has a use on this team, but it's as a backup outfielder or pinch hitter late in the game. He should be no where near CF tomorrow - hopefully it's Anderson or even Swisher or Wise - but I strongly doubt it and expect a similar lineup tomorrow night. That's a piss poor lineup the Sox are throwing out there. I also wouldn't mind seeing either Wise or Ramirez in the 2 hole tomorrow...AJP is a cheater because he is cheering for the Twins. The stoppers are going in the next two, and Blackburn got f***ed up his last start. Time for Buehrle to earn his moneys.
  7. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) you're just gettin started, the offseason cracks me up on this site. People just get bored and write funny stuff, or you'll have the people that speculate and create the most rediculously awesome line ups that we will have in the next year. Although October threads are pretty cool too. Those ones are usually the best
  8. I am possibly the best drinker in the world for people weighing under 150 pounds. Not that it's necessarily a good thing, I'm just good at it. I am also a good line cook and a hell of a good bowler. Oh, and I am great at sleeping too.
  9. BILLS 3-0 and in sole possession of first place. They good.
  10. Get one and that essentially kills them. Get two and the division is won.
  11. Parity sucks...I want just the White Sox to make the playoffs every year.
  12. Liriano is not as unhittable as he once was. He's a good pitcher right now because he's a good pitcher and his stuff only has a bit to do with it. His slider is pretty mediocre from what I've seen.
  13. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) The second priority will most likely be a lead-off hitter. I think Kenny will leave his options open here and will be able to target lead-off types for 2B, SS, 3B, and CF, with the main targets being Figgins, Roberts, and Furcal. Once a lead-off hitter is found then he can move on to addressing other areas. I think the most attractive option and one not mentioned is Orlando Hudson, unless I have missed something in my 3 or so weeks of being a bit inactive. He's ended each of the past 2 years on the DL, but he's a fantastic player and could very easily slip into the leadoff spot as far as I'm concerned. I count 4 spots for 4 players; CF, RF, 1B, and DH. Why do people not consider Swisher a CFer? He played an average CF all year and his value offensively is much better in CF than it is at any other position he plays, especially 1B.
  14. left to right, up to down no, no, no, after 4 beers, no, no, no, no, YES, no
  15. I could very easily see Broadway in a different uniform next year, somewhere in the NL. I also should clarify my statement and basically suggest that I'd love for Freddy to be back but that I wouldn't count on him. He'd want a little more assurance than that, so he would be given a legitimate chance at winning a spot in the rotation, but if the money is good enough and KW doesn't go ahead and bring in another pitcher, I'd be all for it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if KW went out and got another young starting pitcher who is about a year away but can step in, ala Danks or Floyd from 07, in case Garcia (or whoever) went down. Perhaps that could be Richard, but I ultimately see him ending up in the bullpen.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) That really doesn't apply to a team that was far and away the best team in MLB that season. They were just that good, outside of one month. We really haven't been all to spectacular that much this season. The only two things this team current does not have that the 2005 team did have are an effective bullpen and a player who is starting and stealing a lot of bases. This offense, though more inconsistent, is far better than the 2005 offense and the rotation is very close to being just as good (though I do have my fears about Vazquez in the playoffs). I have hope for this team in the playoffs if they can make it, but Thornton and Jenks have to keep pitching well and if two of the Richard-Dotel-Carrasco-Ramirez-MacDougal (if he's on the playoff roster, which is sketchy) group pitch well, this team will have a shot. Getting Quentin relatively healthy would be nice too, but that's a coinflip at this point. It would be nice if they start hitting though. Seeing as how they've historically hit the absolute s*** out of the three they're facing this weekend, it would be nice if it started happening again. A 24 run series would be just OK with me so long as they don't score 22 of them in one game.
  17. It's Ozzie calling out his guys. I have no problem with it at all.
  18. I missed a Shinedown/Saving Abel/Buckcherry/Avenged Sevenfold concert last night in Sioux Falls because of prior commitments. I'm kind of bummed.
  19. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) I say right now there is about a 40% chance he is with the Sox next season. I'd put it at 50% and I'd have absolutely no problem with it.
  20. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) eh. i was thinking mark mangino was in the fold. Actually I'm pretty sure Lohan is in Mangino's fold. so the current President is Dick Cheney, right? Regardless of her opinion...which was quite possibly that established from her secretary...that's an absolutely absurd statement to make in a press release. I mean, WTF, it's not like McCain suddenly was like "Hey, sup buds, I'm not quite ready, so here's Sarah Palin and she's gonna be the big P until I get into office while I get the sweet VP position...it's only coolz cuz it sounds kewl. When I'm ready, she's gonna be VP and then I get the s***ty, big P and then it's all downhill from there...bummer, I know bro...no more beer pong on Saturdays."
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 06:13 AM) Luckily Quentin is so charismatic, otherwise no one would have noticed his season. point noted and understood, but have you considered Dye as an MVP candidate? Most seemingly haven't and that's just a bit sad as far as I'm concerned.
  22. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) The Twins' lineup right now is better than the Sox - especially the Sox lineup w/o Konerko - and the pitching probably favors the Twins w/ Liriano (who gagged tonight) and Slowey leading the way. Nathan blew 3 saves...that's the difference right now. The White Sox actually have competent relievers at the back of their bullpen. Even Nathan looked terrible tonight. Ozzie can generally count on Jenks, Thornton, and Carrasco, and Linebrink and MacDougal have both been very solid over the past month. Dotel needs a breather, but the Sox have bullpen arms that don't blow up. The Twins bullpen is just absolute garbage and, in their respective roles, there isn't one Twins bullpen arm I would take over a Sox bullpen arm. The Sox pitching, based on that fact alone, is superior to the Twins pitching.
  23. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) I'm not concerned about the pick itself, it's that the Sox organization gave money to a horrendous baseball player and played and promoted him over other minor leaguers. What kind of message doe that send to the farmhands? We don't need the White Sox to be like Hiltons or Richies of MLB with the Guillen. Let them party on their own time and money. Only Ozzie has earned his money. Who was honestly hurt by Oney Guillen's promotions throughout the Sox minor league system?
