QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) it definitely would be a sweep if we win tomorrow did that suspended game loss cost us a series or did we still win that one? split the 4-gamer

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Jon Adkins wasnt as high a pick as those other two guys Not sure why I was thinking of Adkins name; I was thinking s***ty White Sox pitchers and mixed up Adkins and Grilli.

sox up 2 games THANKS SEATTLE MARINERS

Corcoran does have pretty good stuff for a reliever...I just saw him when he was struggling with that control and he looked like s***. He looks a hell of a lot better so far this inning, and there he struck out Delmon. With command and getting ahead, he's good; when he's not, he's bad. You can pretty much say that about anyone.
-
That was the biggest out of the game...which is why you had your best pitcher in there to get it.....?
-
I don't get how Corcoran has been as successful as he has this year. He has solid movement on his stuff, but he is ridiculously wild...it's crazy.

f***ing got just under it, just off the end of the bat

this looks ugly to Ibanez right now

a base hit for Lopez here would be OK At the very least, right here, you have to tie the game; none of this strand everyone bulls***. Better would be two more runs. Perfect, base hit, 3-2 M's.

yeah Beltre would have homered if he were at USCF goddammmmmmmmmmmit

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Well, then we're out of it. No way we deal Floyd or Danks. I'd consider Javy if we could get another Javy-like starter from another team, but who is that guy? Javy and Broadway?? Would they take Richard, Broadway, and Fields if Richard finishes the year like he's currently pitching? dealing Javy for Beltre would be a mistake

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 10:17 PM) It didn't take much to know he had talent- he wasn't a 2001 top 5 pick for nothing. I'm not about to put Jon Adkins in my rotation, Darin Erstad in centerfield, or Ben Davis at catcher any time soon. He looked like he had completely flamed out as a prospect and the Sox found something in him.

Carlos Gomez needs Ritalin. He just looks like he wants to f***ing jump out of his shoes every time he does anything on a baseball field.
-
ghey, Brendan Harris just saved a run by making a diving stop down the line. Maybe saved 2 runs. Maybe I should watch Adult Swim instead because Family Guy reruns are fun.
-
I really want Beltre on this team next year. I'll be slightly sad if he's not.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Erstad busted his ass everytime he was on the field. I have no hate for Erstad as a person. It's not his fault that some members of the organization get a hard on for grinders. I cannot understand their hatred for hoagies. Really grinds my gears. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) These responses are funny. Cabrera is a 3rd in the AL in WS for SS, is way, way ahead in defensive WS and other advanced defensive metrics, and is swinging a decent (for a SS) bat. And take it from me: I f***ing hated this trade and hated O-Cab as late as this July. But he's made a believer out of me. He's not a great hitter, but he's a guy that from SS will put up a solid 280/330/390 line and more than make up for his offensive mediocrity with great defense. Like most of you after watching him for a few games I thought his defense was horrible. He rounds off balls, doesn't have a strong arm, and seems to just make routine plays look hard. But after watching him play (I'd say I've seen about 50% of the innings played so far this year) he really does make all the plays. He might not have the best range, or the best arm, or the best hands: but he does have good skills in all those areas. Rarely does he not make a tough play. The advanced defensive metrics back this up. Furthermore, he's going to net the Sox 2 nice draft picks this winter, what the hell isn't to love about that? Cabrera is a vital player on this good Sox team, there is no reason (other than the meaningless scorer stuff) to not like him. I agree completely with this, even if I don't actually like him as a player.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) It sure seems like Gavin comes through when the team needs him the most. Gotta love the 3.70 ERA from a starter who as of last year was nothing but a colossal bust. Gavin Floyd has won my heart with long hair, a neck beard, a bald head, and his cute face.

Rockies put Taveras + Fuentes on waivers
witesoxfan replied to WinningUgly85's topic in The Diamond Club
Taveras is better than Owens because he can actually play defense. From everything I've seen, he's a much better fundamental player and would make a much better 4th outfielder. He still sucks though, and he wouldn't get past all of the NL teams, let alone getting to the White Sox. Fuentes is good, but the same waiver rule applies, as he wouldn't get past several NL teams before even getting to the bottom of the AL. This is non-news regarding the White Sox as far as I'm concerned. Fun to talk about all the same though. -
can this be the catch-all instead?

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 06:16 PM) .641 OPS not doing it for ya? He isn't even a prolific basestealer like Jacoby Ellsbury. Apparently his defense has been pretty good despite the occasional youngster miscue. He better be pretty spectacular out there because he doesn't seem to do anything else even adequately. Whether he's been good in CF or not...I haven't been able to watch enough to figure it out, due to working at night...he still looks like a deer in the headlights out there on any play that he can tell is going to be big, especially when he is going back on the ball. He comes in on it pretty well, but he just does not move backwards very well yet. Denard Span, on the other hand, is an absolutely fantastic player and I would argue that his emergence in the absence of Cuddyer this year is perhaps the biggest reason as to why the Twins are competing and that he could very easily be their CFer of the future. If he did steroids or something and added some 20-30 homer power, he'd be a legitimate 5-tool player.

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 04:53 PM) Ask that question to the White Sox as he legs out another infield base hit and robs another HR against us. they'd say he sucks

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Example: The banning of dodgeball from schools for fear it can cause hurt feelings for those who get "picked on" during the game I thought that had more to do with head injuries than it did anybody getting picked on.

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) It all comes down to tonight's game! If the Sox win tonight, we'll win the division. Why tonight? Well.... let's just say, I have a feeling! what if they lose

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) You strongly consider it when it's the bottom of the 9th, you're trailing, and you just got punked in your own house on consecutive days. Seriously, if Cox holds Anderson at 3rd, what are the chances that whoever was up next (Cabrera?) drives him in with two outs against a solid bullpen? no he's saying you don't start a runner up when there isn't a forceout; on a 3-2, 2 out count, the runner holds at 2B when the pitch is delivered to make sure that the ball does, in fact, get through. That's why Anderson wasn't already home. If there had been a runner on 1B when Konerko got the hit, Anderson makes it home with relative ease.
