Hawk is right. No one beats themselves LESS in the entire ML than Minnesota. You'll never see Minnesota lose a game like this. EVER -

Let's hope for a Minnesota loss tonight. This one hurts big. I hope I am wrong but I don't see us coming back. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) there's runners on base, probably his B game. If Ozzie had ANY confidence in our bullpen we would have brought in someone out of the pen to start the 8th. Embarassing. -

QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) everyone who was drooling over the Twins dreaded road trip, including the TV talking heads, clearly don't what seems like logic doesn't work for the White Sox. 1)Twins get a dead Angels team, cruising to a div title without contest, playing flat and scoring 1 run against Slowey, and none other that Hunter giving up the error that leads too the loss, define irony? 2) the rest of that trip is against deadbeat teams who the Twins are going to massacre, road or not 3) the sox have a red hot TB team and BOS on the road during that stretch 4) Twins history of nonames playing like allstars, who the f*ck are slowey, perkins, seriously, do their players have no big league learning curve over an entire season???? so what appears to be a golden opportunity for our sox will be the exact exact opposite, I predict we're 4 out by the time this stretch ends Thanks you Anaheim for tanking at the exact moment we need you, so you can coast into the playoffs while helping the twins in so they can exit in round one as usual I couldn't have said it better myself. Perhaps they are laying down SO THEY GET MINNY in the playoffs....that would make sense since we all know if they get there they will be swept as usual -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) The Twins have 12 games the rest of the season against teams above .500 The Sox have 19 games the rest of the season against teams above .500 There ya go. And we have BOS and NYY at their place. This isn't good. I am tempted to say we're done but that's just the pessimist in me...I am SO SICK of the same old story with the Twins. It would be different if you knew they weren't going to be swept in the playoffs, but they don't even have a chance, and you know the White Sox teams would be more suited for this type of play....oh well.... P.S. 8-0 Twins -

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) true, but the rays ain t invincible,no team isn t,we have as good a chance as any team contending, they all have flaws and I don t think the twinkies will be there in the end because they have 24 of their last 36 games on the road, and against some good teams, that s a killer schedule. I appreciate the optimism however I just cannot recall Twins losing games they need to win while they are in a Pennant race. This reminds me so much of 2006 where they didn't lose since May no matter what (even on the road) it's sickening P.S. 5-0 Twins -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) 4-0 Twins....not a good start to this weekend. Angels have no life whatsoever. First time in 11 games Saunders has allowed more than 3 runs. This is just flat out ridiculous. Let's crown the Twins champs of the Central once again. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) Crap, the Angels look freaking awful. Glenn Perkins is on his way to being 9-1 in his last 12 starts. Glenn FREAKING Perkins. Unreal. 2 hit shutout through 5. Angels are laying down. If we don't win .700 of our games during this Twinkie 14 game road trip we may be chasing 4-5 games by the end of it and playing for a wildcard we probably won't get....unreal -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Wow....impressive swing. What a terrible all-around game. Go Angels! I don't care what anyone says about Dotel being lights out everytime I watch him the guy gets lit up like a Christmas tree.... -

Nice catch by Jr. but he looks pretty slow out there... -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) Hate to say it but they may be a team of destiny. They are fricking amazing. Ballgame over. Angels had 1 hit in their last 7 innings. Unreal. Hunter misplayed a fly ball that I've never seen him do in his life to allow the Twins to get the win. We have to take the attitude of fighting for the wild card as this Twins team has never choked going down the stretch in my life.

Twins just went ahead 2-1 in the 12th. What's new. Everyone talking about how hard this road trip will be for them....they will come back with a winning record guaranteed

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) And to think. We were a Tampa Bay away from not evening making the post season. I think the Rays went like 6-0 against the Indians in September or they could have been there instead. Well, that is arguable since we swept Cleveland at the end of the year but they were out of it at that point. I have a few favorite stats from 2005: 1) We won 16 of our last 17 games 2) We won the opener 1-0, the first game of the second half 1-0 and the WS clincher 1-0 And my personal favorite: We won 15 (yes, fifteen!) games while scoring 2 runs or LESS

Poreda's name comes up when talking 5th starter.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:56 AM) I'm a little concerned about expectations. Realistically, this is a very talented 21 year old kid who hasn't had as good of a year in the minors as Clayton Richard. He has a 3.44 ERA and .254 BAA in double-A ball. He's given up more walks and twice as many homeruns in less innings than Richard did when he was pitching for the Barons earlier this year. Poreda doesn't even have the lowest starter ERA on his current team. (Justin Cassel does.) I'm with Coop. Poreda may be our future, but I'm not sure if that future is now. I'd hate to see him come up, get slapped around and screw up his confidence. We've been wrong before about people not being ready. Remember 1990 with Frank Thomas? We didn't call him up till Aug 1 even though he tore the cover off the ball in Spring Training. Since we cannot go with Broadway again to me giving this guy a shot tomorrow night makes sense and will be at least some type of gauge to see where he's at in his development. And lastly, if he does get hit around and his pu$$y hurts afterwards then he's not mentally tough enough for this game to begin with. -
QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) To actually not get swept in this series is an absolute thrill. If we win tomorrow I will be shocked to do this against Oakland at their place and it would have to be a surprise to Minny as well....you know they had to expect us getting swept here as we never win in Oakland. This is a HUGE win for us I am surprised more on this board don't recognize this.

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) What a s***load of f***. Pathetic. What are the odds we lose all 3 games once again in Oakland? 90%?

I'd love for someone to run the numbers of winning % of their schedule over the final 2 months of the year but I have to say that this whole Twins run is reminding me of 2006 BIG TIME. (Where basically they didn't lose a series since May type thing it seemed). Looking at their schedule it's scary how often I see Seattle, Cleveland, KC etc down the stretch. Again it's looking like 2006 again. You gotta hand it to them for winning with a bunch of no names like Kevin Slowey. Give me a break. Scott Baker is their #1 starter. LOL. It's just unbelieveable. Of course if they make it to the playoffs they'll be 3 and out as usual but still... I'd like to see someone run the numbers to see if this is actually as bad as it looks. Maybe the only reason they got off to a slow start was because their schedule was incredibly difficult?
