  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) This is the the biggest win for the White Sox since October 26, 2005. I agree. And Cleveland beats the Twins today- this is huge. Let's get 2 more W's and end their season
  2. I dont understand the Masset call here, immediately upon seeing him out there
  3. I have to say that I would be thrilled to win 1 of 3 in this series
  4. Is it just me or is Gavin's curve ball not biting as much tonight?
  5. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) Liriano will face the sox next week Will that be his first start? Sorry, living overseas not watching as much baseball these days
  6. Sheffield's numbers are just as bad as poor Paully
  7. Who is for putting Fields at first and Crede at Third? LOL
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) Did you see who he drafted today? I think he understands that weakness. Check out Q, and Alexei. I agree. Going back to Thome, that move made sense I believe at the time, and as far as resigning Paulie and Dye, I don't think you can blame him in either situation there either. Going forward I don't see our team being as slow as it is today under KW, but I believe we can still win with this team in our ballpark.
  9. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) I was not one of the people being negative about Gavin Floyd, but it's not like Floyd did anything since being in MLB before this year... at all. He is the definition of "reclamation project." I'm not saying Floyd didn't deserve to be bashed last year. He did, probably until September. But, for someone to say he has no talent, (as several meatheads said on this forum) is utterly ridiculous. And I happen to feel the same about the fire KW talk. Nonsense.
  10. Great article. I wonder where all the "fire Kenny Williams" people are on this forum this year?? No different than the people claiming Floyd had no talent, these people shouldn't utter another opinion as extreme as these and just shut their mouth because they have been proven wrong. Period.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) Nice 3-1 pop up by PK. Were the boo birds for him or the ump? Good question, I was wondering the same....Paulie is killing us
  12. I got everyone beat on location. Warsaw, Poland!!!
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 21, 2008 -> 05:01 PM) Hope the plate patience is there tonight with a whole bunch of those sweeping curves on the horizon. Go. The. Other. Way. Agreed. I can't stand it when I see him throwing that junk up there and we cannot light him up. I have a feeling, despite his success against us in the Cell, that we're going to tee him up tonight...including another bomb from CQ
  14. How many people really believe that CQ would have gone down to AAA instead of Anderson though? Even before Owens got hurt I didn't think that was a guarantee...not in the least, especially with how much we knew KW liked him. Which brings up another note....where are all the KW haters now??? If I am him, I say "how do ya like me now b****?" ;-)
  15. What really gets me is the fact that if we just decided to pack it in during the last week of '07 we could have the top pick and whoever we wanted...
  16. Hawk has been quoted as saying that Big Frank was the best right handed hitter he's ever seen his first 8 years in the league. I concur. I never saw a power hitter with a better eye than the big hurt. During his prime, if you wanted to get him out, you HAD to give him something good to hit, and he usually hit it hard.
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) Why the rush to get people to admit accountability? Say Gavin gets blown up for his next 3 starts, does that mean someone needs to create a thread so that you can be accountable? You too are missing the point. It has NOTHING to do with performance on the field. It has everything to do with him, however, proving he has talent and does have major league stuff. 50% of this board didn't see that this year. I think, even if he does get shelled for the rest of the year, at this point you have to admit he does have ML stuff and talent. I couldn't get over the number of people who didn't see this last year when he was struggling. What an arm the kid has.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) I can't wait to see what happens if MacDougal has a couple good relief appearances. You guys are MISSING the point. The point ISN'T the fact that Gavin has had two good starts this year. Forget that. What I am saying, however, is the kid has talent and excellent stuff. Are those of you who thought he has horrible stuff and didn't belong in Single A going to step up and admit you were wrong for once? Probably not. You'll just continue to mock my post by making the one word reply of "silly" without even addressing the issue at hand. Very well thought out argument and reply.
  19. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) This thread is pretty silly, but it should create some frustrating arguments for the moderators to deal with. That should be annoying for them. It's silly because I am calling people out and holding them accountable for their comments? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Gavin will get Cy Young consideration or even get 10 wins this year. What I am saying, is you have to admit the kid does have good stuff and he does have talent. Half of this board didn't think that this year, which completely blew me away as I thought it was blatantly obvious what a great arm the kid has. Getting our friends on SoxTalk to admit they are wrong is like pulling teeth I know, so perhaps we should just blow up this thread? To me it's a good thing when you step forward and admit you're wrong otherwise you're no better than Mariotti who says whatever he wants with no recourse or accountability whatsoever.
  20. First off, I haven't been a fan of Gavin's seemingly wussy persona. However, I don't think ANYONE can deny the guy has No 1 or No 2 "stuff". I can remember the game last year against Minnesota when they scored like a million runs against us in a double header and Gavin was getting shelled. I recall many Sox Talk members saying he had "horrible stuff" and "no talent". While the jury is still out on his ability to perform consistently, I cannot see how anyone could say he doesn't have any talent or horrible stuff, even when watching him get lit up like a Christmas tree last year. Who wants to "fess up" and admit they were wrong by saying this about Gavin???? C'mon, we know you're out there...and on record! :-)
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) 8 I believe, but they were 319 games above .500 at the time, so it almost didn't matter. Yes, that's true, it was August of 05 when they dropped 7 or 8 in a row. The point, however, is to start off the season this way. I know in theory it shouldn't matter, but like mentioned above they now have to play .620 ball to get to 96 wins. My point, also, is if Boston can take care of them the next two games and we hit em in the mouth over the weekend like we know we can....it sounds strange to say in April....but they can almost be in a hole too big to get out of?
  22. I know it's not directly a stat related to the White Sox, however, NO team in MLB history has started 0-7 and made the playoffs. In fact only a few have even gotten to .500. I realize this is a unique situation but if the Red Sox can beat up on them the next 2 games and we can do the same this weekend, we could put them in a world of hurt... If the stat holds true again this year, perhaps we'll be competing for the division versus CLE instead of DET? Maybe KC? ;-)
  23. As much as CC like to throw the fastball and Alexi is a fastball hitter, I believe Anderson should've gotten the start today.
  24. The ump blew a call on Gutierrez...then he hits a 3 run homer. Pathetic performance by Buerhle however, looks like its going to be a long year.
