  1. Well, there’s no realistic way they would turn everything over to Haber. So KW, whatever. Whoever’s in charge of pro scouting absolutely has to go. Definitely don’t want Hostetler near the decision-making process, either. Pollock should never play any position in the OF other than left. Of course, in your scenario Vaughn is unfortunately stuck there in order to at least attempt to protect Eloy. The other problem with this scenario is Grandal and McGuire isn’t being addressed, either. They’re obviously not going to DFA Grandal before next season, but they need to get a catcher who can at least provide a 600ish OPS if that catcher is going to play almost half the time. I do find it hard to believe they would be willing to give up on Pollock so quickly as a starter, especially when he too will likely be on the 2023 roster just like Grandal and Leury. I also think going after Drury and creating a complementary Tyler Naquin/Engel platoon is 10x more realistic than clearing out the system for Reynolds. It’s also getting harder and harder to trade Burger because he’s important insurance for Moncada.
  2. La Russa said he was moved watching a scene in a documentary about the 1992 "Dream Team." As they stood for the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" following their Olympic championship in Barcelona, several of the biggest names in basketball history teared up and later spoke about the pride they had playing for their country and hearing the anthem played. "I thought, 'Man, that's what the anthem is. That's what the flag is.' It's all that's right in this country and you're right to dislike and protest whatever you want to. But it ain't the flag and it ain't the anthem. That's my answer. I agree there's a lot wrong, but I would never not stand up for the anthem or salute the flag." https://sports.yahoo.com/tony-la-russa-gabe-kapler-000601409.html https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/cubs-jed-hoyer-david-ross-mlb-has-platform-encourage-change
  3. Abreu is not on the Top Ten list of Sox problems to be addressed right now.
  4. Protest by San Francisco's Gabe Kapler brings support from some fellow managers, but Chicago White Sox's Tony La Russa differs https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/34000971/protest-san-francisco-gabe-kapler-brings-support-some-fellow-managers-chicago-white-sox-tony-la-russa-differs https://kaplifestyle.com/2022/05/27/home-of-the-brave/ But we weren’t given bravery, and we aren’t free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked parents trying to organize to charge in to stop the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren’t free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our children’s freedom to go to school without needing bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills.
  5. Robertson even was at 94 tonight for some of his pitches...he's going to fetch a decent prospect at the TDL in August.
  6. The average OPS was probably 30-35 points higher at that point in season compared to this year, maybe even 40, but the point still stands. And that's with Pollock missing the 624 cutoff barely, McGuire and Leury too.
  7. That would have been a million to one bet against three year ago...
  8. He had 2010 and 2012 but yeah no playoff appearances. Meanwhile the Red Sox kept the better player in Devers...even if they were wrong on Benintendi and Kopech looks on track to be a star.
  9. Yet 23-10 in 2016 might be quite a few games over .500 higher than the 2022 Sox reach unless something changes dramatically like LaRussa or less likely Hahn resigning.
  10. Well that 0-3 start isn't encouraging. And we know how many times they've run down the Twins when we were trailing them...basically just 2005 and 2008.
  11. Preserve the pen for Sunday when we have had four off days in a week and another on Monday.
  12. The Twins have the Yankees and Rays after five against the Tigers in four days (Mon-Thurs). They're going to be at least 4-2 or 3-3 and 9 or 11 games over .500 over the next 6 coming into the weekend. Of course the Sox have the Blue Jays offense and Rays pitching and defense to contend with, too.
  13. More free bases ceded. I mean we can come back from 6-1 down quite easily, right?
  14. He just might get a chance with another pitching coach. Will be unlikely to make much of a difference. In fact, if you were to rank everyone on the coaching staff and front office, only Katz and Paddy would survive a hostile takeover.
  15. Any update on Colas? Personal/mental health day? Day to day injury? In the box score they show him as on the bench at least.
  16. You really believe Grandal’s going to successfully throw him out?
  17. A whip of 2 is not exactly sustainable. How many stolen bases do we just cede to the other team? Thankfully Abreu snagged that throw or it would be 4-5 to 0 now and game over.
  18. This team really seems broken right now.
  19. How could anyone possibly think he could play RF when he was acquired and say it with a straight face? How could the scouts sign off on that one?
  20. This entire organization needs a reboot. Strength/conditioning and trainers. The front office. New manager and coaching staff minus Katz…and he might end up following Giolito out the door.
  21. But then the Guardians have the easiest June. Someone put up respective strength of schedules and they were pretty comparable…especially when you consider how the Twins make the Sox schedule look harder and vice-versa. The biggest question is can the Sox do more than play .500 against them after getting swept in the first meeting? You’re not going to get another stretch where they lose 3/4 to the Tigers and Royals at home…but that KC offense is so much more dangerous than ours with Benintendi, Witt Jr., and Merrifield raking and Perez coming back.
  22. Naquin and Drury. What’s that going to cost the Sox? Because there’s unlikely to be another headline-grabbing move unless it’s a change of scenery deal for Moncada or Jimenez, and both of those seem highly unlikely.
  23. Need to see the active rosters at the end of the day on August 3rd. And managers as well.
