In all fairness, Burger has to make that play when there is no margin for error offensively.
-
Who was just praising Burger...? More Cubs than Sox fans in attendance? Yikes. Six games back potentially and the Twins still have five in four days against Detroit. No Robert. No Anderson and two out including Graveman out for TOR. What could go wrong?
-
Well the only candidates for extension are Cease and Kopech but will JR agree? Seems they are determined to move in another direction with Giolito. And Cease still hasn't proven he can be consistently dominant against the really good teams.
-
Somehow the Red Sox are on the verge of catching the White Sox after how badly they looked weeks ago in Fenway... White Sox bullpen starting up. Cease nearing 100 pitches.

It also wouldn't be as much of a story were the White Sox 5-7 games up in first place... -
That might be the only way to almost accidentally score the way this offense is going. At least he can occasionally put it in the seats.
-
You knew he was going to be hyped up going against TLR and one of the highest profile games for the Cubs all year.
-
Bunting at home when you already have a guy in scoring position and no outs? Sheesh.
-
If you are Boggs Gwynn Brett Carew Tim Anderson...sure you can steer the ball wherever you want like it's a magic wand in your hand.
-
Sounds great against Jays Rays Dodgers. Might as well be Sammy Sosa and Yolmer Sanchez.
-
This White Sox team is indefensible at this point.

Without Anderson and Robert, simply unwatchable. Hahn and TLR and KW and JR will now try to make it all about the strength/conditioning team and trainers. -
Twins Moneyball. Take first Pitch. Analytics.

Can hardly put any weight on it. Robert might miss TOR series, too. Yikes.

This one should be interesting…

Basically, a Cito Gaston or Felipe Alou type. I’m not even sure what that would look like anymore. A cross between Beltran and Sandy Alomar and the first two names I just mentioned…but definitely old enough to be respected and yet not too old at the same time. Of course, most from that generation are not overly into analytics, either. Earlier managing career Joe Maddon perhaps…while he still had something to prove and not too comfortable yet.

See Balta’s comment above. You just know he couldn’t resist. I just wish he spent an equal amount of time constructing the lineup in a way that would maximize already limited run production. I mean…Hahn speaks all the time with the media and yet never says anything memorable unless he’s endeavoring too hard to defend himself. You can talk in a truthful way without revealing anything if you so desire. -
Then we just nuked another $15 million when we were only on the hook with Kimbrel for $1 million. Hahn will be fired before he admits he got the worst of both Kimbrel trades. It will be much easier to dump Harrison. He's the next scapegoat.

Sure. But to me, Francis Scott Key's words are about resistance and perseverance in the face of superior forces...with the odds heavily against them. It can have military implications, but there's no exclusivity. And I learned in high school that even if I found it personally distasteful, I even had the right to burn an American flag in protest. And that it was even my duty as a citizen to protest and continue to strive for a stronger union. -

They don't have enough time for me. There are too many local protests against lockdown policies in neighborhoods and factories across Shanghai and Beijing. Otoh, I couldn't write something inflammatory and publicly post it on Weibo, which is like Twitter. Almost all expats use VPNs and we generally avoid any sensitive topics on Weixin/WeChat messenger. And I sincerely doubt the Chinese government would be on the side of Tim Anderson or having the right to protest a national flag or anything deemed anti-patriot in general. -

Sure, Chicago is not San Francisco...but none of the ten other managers quoted so far have sought to make headlines. -

Have you noticed that he is the ONLY manager so far to put himself out there on that island, compared to 8-9 others who didn't? Why would you want to put yourself into a box in opposition to the beliefs of the majority of your roster? You have to know your environment. If it was golf or tennis or NASCAR, there would be no or certainly lesser controversy. He has the right to free speech, no differently than Jerry Manuel expressed himself as manager, but he also knows the headlines and consequences...but always seems to make it more about himself. He referenced the 1992 Olympics. That was thirty years ago. Times have changed. It's not Gran Torino. -
Marco Paddy has never done anything but identify and attempt to utilize our limited budget to go after the best future talents in the game. Now we can still consider the Dominican and Venezuela disappointments but the Cuban Connection has compensated…with the caveat that the two most disciplined guys in Moncada and Grandal seem completely lost.

In that case, they might as well trade him after this season if he rebounds. Too risky to assume he still has an MVP season bottled up in there somewhere.
-
Also does anyone really believe they would turn to Jirschele without any big league experience? Carlos Beltran (yes, outsiders) feels more likely. Bringing in Bochy would just mean another high salary, an older manager and a new league. God help us, but I almost might even go for Mike Scioscia but who knows how the veterans and especially Hispanic core would take to him. Which is why Beltran makes more sense.

He’s certainly making Ozzie Guillen more palatable to at least 30-40% of the fanbase.
