  1. Obviously the Braves as well...and Mets under Cohen. Basically, just five or six teams now.
  2. If only the Dodgers Yankees or Astros can win, is that really good for the sport? How so? At least the Padres actually try to win against the team with ten straight playoff appearances, biggest budget and best front office...
  3. Just like Pollock accidentally became the de facto LFer. The plan was always for him to in competently play RF with that noodle arm. Every hit to the gaps except Engel fielding results in nearly automatic doubles. The Guardians are the masters at taking advantage of those opportunities. Flip managers and the Sox lead the division by 4-6 games.
  4. Orioles already sold on Mancini and the Guardians are looking for any takers on Civale or Plesac. Ugly spot for the Sox to be stuck in. Not to mention six of last nine games for Guardians against the Royals. Not just the Twins they have 13 games remaining to catch.
  5. Other than lucking into Cueto who everyone passed on just like Rodon the previous season...nothing could support their arguments for insider knowledge and general competence.
  6. The most logical plays for RF are buying low on Conforto or waiting on Colas. Otherwise, they need a placeholder type very similar to Hunter Renfroe to get through one year while waiting on Colas at least until second half 2023.
  7. Zaidi runs one of the best operations in the game. They operate on the margins...and maximize every possible advantage to make up for talent disadvantages. What are the odds three Sox players all end up there within a year following completely different routes?
  8. It’s over with TLR and Hahn not being vanquished. Without thoroughly fixing/improving/modernizing their organization from top to bottom. Without having a next wave arriving other than Colas (and maybe Montgomery) for the next two years. Without 100% Robert playing close to his potential. Moncada and Jimenez bottoming out is just too much to overcome. Anderson isn’t ever going to be a 900 ops guy and Abreu is on the verge of retirement. Too many veteran salaries locked in that can’t be moved for less than 50-75 cents on the dollar. Sad that we waited over a decade for this…or that crowing about two playoff appearances in 121 years is some massive accomplishment that will satisfy anything more than the most loyal and supportive fans. They MIGHT continue to follow the team but investing less and less time and money on such a dissatisfying product. TLR makes this such a slog to endure. The whole season has cumulatively felt like being in quicksand.
  9. Astros have cut 16% from payroll but still have one of the two best teams in the AL after five consecutive ALCS appearances. Middle ten payroll in baseball but have already addressed every single area of weakness other than CF. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/astros-searching-for-center-field-help.html Added Trey Mancini, LHR Will Smith and C Christian Vasquez. That's how you roll when you have a team in that position...losing Correa and Springer over consecutive years. And developing plenty of pitching internally helps most of all.
  10. Wish we would have pivoted so easily from Machado to Harper…rather than now (supposedly) Ohtani to Soto. They only cost money and not half the farm system…and 1-2 key major league pieces.
  11. Who gets Soto…Juan and not Gregory…tmrw? Cards, Dodgers or Padres? Mystery team right at the deadline? Or nobody until the offseason?
  12. They won't bring up Perez for the very first time in the heat of a pennant race. TLR would never play him anyway.
  13. George Windy City Limousine
  14. Sons of Anarchy territory...there to Modesto.
  15. Miami SoCal? Iowa or Nebraska farmer's daughters? Cindy Crawford was from DeKalb of all places.
  16. Sounds like Engel...or McGuire. Can we have players that both hit and field? Way too much to ask one presumes
  17. Even more profitable. Fans willing to put up with never acquiring a premium FA.
  18. All hot dogs, Bratwurst, Italian beef 50% off tmrw. Mendick autographs for first 500 fans who don't turn offer down.
  19. Note to Hahn: Jose Iglesias hitting .306 now and a superb fielder at SS and second.
  20. Then you've just traded half the position players on the roster...
  21. Before the world runs out of water and food? Seems a 50/50 bet at best.
  22. That's wrong. Roger Bossard and concessions staff/food vendors. Parking lot money collectors.
  23. Hader has 2023 control or never would have made that deal. At any rate could care less if they trade Hendriks. Just won't invest it in a quality RFer unfortunately. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/san-diego-padres/josh-hader-21236/ 2023=arbitration year 4
