GT 4/22: SOX @ Twins, 7:10 PM CT, NBCSC

Besides this being the fifth week of spring training essentially...teams are just not getting enough live batting practice with all the weather issues. -

It's not Leury's fault...except for Hahn giving him a three year deal out of the gate and bidding the deal up against himself seemingly. ..... Well, that was an easy out at second. One managerial move that worked out at least. -

Don't need so many full counts. Had a k but no call. At least all the White Sox errors this season on the infield? -

Not even Leury could've screw that up... -

Fortunate to clip the mound or it would have been a single up the middle. -

2 1/2 games with just sixteen consecutive singles by Twins. Correa clearly swung. Not really that close. -
You know offense is down when Eli Captain Morgan of the Guardians has four of first five out against Yankees via the K. Otoh, he did add 25 pounds and has added velocity to go with his plus change.

There aren't enough southern or Dome teams. Would have to use some minor league parks like Charlotte...which would impact the AAA and AA schedules. Playing in Mexico, Puerto Rico...would at least promote the sport but logistics and safety/security issues. Maybe Cuba or the Dominican, but those would be much more complicated. You still have the fairness issue with those teams giving up too much summer time revenue for April/May and September games.

Yankees are hitting .220 and still not in bottom 10. Indians are somehow leading in runs scored. Humidors having an effect, at least in April/May. -

JR would sooner let Jay Mariotti or Joe Cowley run the team than force TLR out... -

He does realize that Minnesota has a MUCH bigger outfield to cover than GRF? Somehow...with all the historical Sox nightmares in the HHH Metrodome, it feels like we are almost begging for more with that outfield alignment. -
Ozzie threatened that a number of times…as well as Cora-led minicamps…in the first half of his Sox managerial career.

No, just 2. One of the things that got me really excited back then was this movie… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_in_a_Million:_The_Ron_LeFlore_Story Of course, he would later play for the Sox in that amazing 1983 season. Most of that movie was actually filmed in Clinton, Iowa, in their WW IIish minor league stadium. https://www.davehoekstra.com/2021/08/10/iowas-real-field-of-dreams/ First baseball card and autograph was Claudell Washington, 1979. First game was actually Cubs/Cards at Wrigley mid-1979. Distinctly remember Gary Templeton.

LoL. We’ve always been somewhere in the middle, all things considered. Where do you think the phrase “mired in mediocrity” came from? Although all the allegations directed at Jar in the last few years about targeting a second place finish on average were interesting to say the least. Something one would never hear in NY, Boston or Chavez Ravine.

Excitement is always going to be in the eye of the beholder, though. I thought 1977 and especially 1990 were super exciting. Neither ended in playoff appearances.

Don’t fret too much. Two-Gun Pete will soon take my place doubling down. Perhaps Thad Bosley with a reappearance? Let’s not edge towards that abyss that was WSI, please. The mods here are generally solid, but it doesn’t improve the board when they are mean-spirited or bullying. I don’t ever recall saying anything to deliberately insult you in a decade plus of posting. You are better than that, I hope. At least Southsider2k5 keeps his attacks more generically directed at the Sox fanbase at-large, which is fair enough. This thing of attacking posters like rabid wolf packs is kind of a strange phenomenon. Then others start to feed off that and it slowly starts to evolve into the general tenor of board conversation.

Has anyone successfully convinced someone else to be a different kind of fan in the entire history of SoxTalk? Just curious if there are any examples that come to mind?
-
Just like the fans are completely bored with Harrison and Leury...we have become a team that went from dynamic last summer to whatever this is now. Listless.
-
Cueto is a temporary band-aid at best. Just wait for late May and June starts with the jet stream blowing out at G-Rate.
-
Sure 2-1 2-1 2-1. All that was undone by four consecutive losses and 3 Guardians wins. Especially with so many Sunday lineups and games surrendered before the opening pitch.
-
Or was it LaRussa? Inquiring minds want to know. Because all you had to do was look at his age and fWAR in 2018, 2019 and 2020. A complete roll of the dice for what should have been the easiest 2-2.5 fWAR complementary piece of the puzzle.
-
Series wins sounds more like the qualifying for the BCS Power 5 beauty pageant. Irrelevant. Not who you play. It's when you play 'em.
-
Abreu struggling or Suzuki leading the ROY race? Well, the Sox are 1/2 game up and losing the attendance battle, but Madrigal continues to be an enigma.

Looking at that Game 2 lineup Wednesday...only gluttons for punishment kept watching after Engel got cut down at the plate. Same thing with the game yesterday when Leury ran up the back of Robert. Does switching to the most exciting two way player since Babe Ruth throwing a perfect game make one a bad fan? I think not.
