  1. Not necessarily. Voit can DH, or they end up eating portions of the Hosmer and/or Myers deals. Soler still makes sense, but doubtful they want to commit to either of those two although Preller is coming under a lot of pressure to get back to the postseason this year despite starting behind the 8 ball. This hurts a bit, simply because Ty France was so useful for the Mariners and they just cast him aside.
  2. But we’re overestimating the health of our pitching staff holding up moving forward…especially with an abbreviated ST.
  3. Might as well include TA7 as well to make it more interesting/entertaining. Abreu’s hopefully not going to get more than two, one at a time would be even more ideal at this point.
  4. That sounds like Bummer's season in a nutshell, too. https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2022-03-16/kenley-jansen-dodgers-closer-free-agent-other-options Dodgers still open to bringing Jansen back, less likely after Freeman signing...claim they're willing to go closer by committee with Treinen, Graterol, etc.
  5. If not, might as well use Terrence Gore if we have an extra roster spot to PR late.
  6. "Doesn't he have a PEDs violation in his past? Seems like bad mojo after how Colome fell apart going Sox to Twins last year." This is precisely what I wrote...you can laugh about my sarcastically suggesting bringing someone like Pineda or Simmons (past tense now) over from the Twins, and that having nothing to do with Colome, but my own response had absolutely nothing to with Montas. SO WHERE DID I BRING UP MONTAS? Reading comprehension is a skill...
  7. Well, sure....chiding scouts about Tatis, Jr., is not unlike going after the Yankees/Mets for missing Trout in their backyards and the 20 something teams that passed on him.
  8. He was with them and hardly pitched, or maybe didn't even pitch at all? More rotation insurance, to go along with David Price and Gonsolin, covering starts until Dustin May is back...
  9. Sure, but look at the money Schwarber just got for hitting...and he's not exactly peak JD Martinez or Nelson Cruz in terms of year to year consistency. Conforto is relatively young, LH and can field a position decently/well. That's the going rate, but it doesn't matter, because the White Sox are unlikely to meet it...if he was a FA last off-season, he'd be looking at $120-150 million, arguably. Heck, Suzuki got a pretty impressive deal and he hasn't even played stateside. Conforto has a considerable track record.
  10. No, someone was talking about signing Pineda of the Twins...
  11. Doesn't he have a PEDs violation in his past? Seems like bad mojo after how Colome fell apart going Sox to Twins last year.
  12. Balta? 75% believe Abreu will still be around next year.
  13. Moline Maroons or morons? Fortunately, it seems he showed the moxie or competitive disposition to handle it all quite well, all things considered.
  14. They must not believe he has the ability to sustain velocity over an extended number of innings...and last year his fastball velo was about the average of what Rodon or the Chris Sale of yore would ramp up to in the later innings of a start.
  15. Pretty much everyone knows they're likely to (argue that they're going to) use that money in June and July now.
  16. Welcome to being an Iowa Hawkeyes fan...staying up from 3 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. and going to work after that unmitigated disaster. Maybe it would be more productive to join a book or investing club.
  17. At this rate, he might end up as our RFer by default…
  18. Because of TLR and Hahn, lol. Nothing would surprise me, as we tend to excel in devaluing young assets.
  19. That makes our rotation really short, unless you really believe in Price at this point in his career…the first three are fine, but then you have Kopech/Crochet, Lopez and Velazquez.
  20. The one thing it does is get Vaughn sent down to Charlotte until Sheets falters at DH…improves the defense…still will believe it when I see it, though. Just so much money for JR to sign off on.
  21. Well, then we would really be in trouble from a financial flexibility/CBT perspective. At this point, I might even roll the dice and do it just to change this terrible dynamic with Kimbrel in limbo, but JR will never sign off on it. At least it’s a bit creative and interesting, and provides huge upside with Bellinger.
  22. The Dodgers are not in the business of being dumb. They’re not going to give up Bellinger before someone like Pollock.
  23. How is that possibly helping us? Price as a starter again? All these moves simply seem like compounding two mistakes at present (trade and then picking up the option) into even worse ones.
  24. Sure, we can have Taylor Trammell if you can manage to fix his offensive game. Defense is stellar, at least.
