  1. Rays are cheap, but they would never agree, instead pushing the aging/declining Kiermaier out.
  2. They’re down on Paddack and Gore, but not THAT down…way too many pitchers coming off injuries like Darvish, Clevinger, Morejon and Lamet. Weathers was a rookie last year and hit a workload wall.
  3. Since when our prospects in the Top 50 worth less than $10-15 million? Even if they (White Sox) ate all of Myers’ and Kimbrels’ deals, that’s not worth Hassell. We know that’s never going to happen. What next, CJ Abrams, too? That would solve second and require trading half our farm system.
  4. SoxTalk simply cannot handle Myers for Kimbrel and Conforto signing with SD… Unless they were going to send a Top Ten prospect or two back the other way, which everyone would immediately forecast failure for (thinking Campusano.)
  5. Who will the Dodgers replace Trea Turner with next year?
  6. Now that actually does start to make sense…since they were willing to throw a lot at Suzuki and aren’t 100% on their closing options. SF also seems much likelier than Haniger or Bellinger.
  7. If nothing else, there are no Hector rumors to generate mass hysteria like the Manny thread/s.
  8. Bellinger is not a bad contract when nobody would be that shocked by another MVP year.
  9. He’s a bit below average but miles ahead of Vaughn/Sheets. SF seems to make sense, Yazstremski?
  10. They would have to have a ton of belief in all their young outfielders producing and staying healthy…doesn’t make sense, although thry do have Winker, Kyle Lewis and Harold’s favorite Wisconsin kid, not to mention Taylor Trammell. I would think Haniger would get some time at DG as well, plus they got Seager off the books finally.
  11. This would have made sense had they signed Suzuki. They have Suarez, Pagan and Pomeranz to close. Outfield lost Pham, so the third starter out there would be Profar atm, or Hassell, then Grisham and Myers.
  12. They should be in their prime these two years…which is why the lack of finishing moves is driving everyone simply insane. We’re more worried about not paying Conforto due to the uncertainty of how things will look in 2025 than winning right now, putting all our chips in. From past experience, these shining moments in time usually are shorter than expected. The Cubs really plateaued early in their window…but held on at the borderline of contention for five more years after 2015-16. Royals only had their rapid ascent in 2013, two World Series and then injuries and age caught up in Year 4. Astros remain the only team to really sustain things, other than the massive budget Dodgers. The Braves are right there now, too, and the Blue Jays most obviously as well (heck, we might star fearing Seattle and Texas soon). What really scares you the most is an injury to Robert, TA7 or one of the Big 3 pitchers plus Kopech.
  13. Right, they go three years on the familiar quantity and simply keep Lux and Bellinger, waiting on rebounds…they don’t need either guy to play to MVP form, just 2-3 fWAR would be acceptable with all the star power on that team. Same with Turner, whose veteran presence and leadership is just as importance as his statistical output. Too big a risk that Kimbrel implodes under that pressure cooker of expectations, similar to Boston.
  14. And that’s where they ask for at least $4-6 million from the Sox to help offset the CBT ramifications…due to that 60% tax. If you believe in Lux’s prospect pedigree, you almost have to make that move, despite Vera’s potential.
  15. Chapman/Olson…Lindor/Jo.Ramirez/Bieber…Witt, Jr.,…Bryan Reynolds all could/should have broken those Grandal contract numbers.
  16. They would ask for Vera, Carlos Perez and Kimbrel for Lux…
  17. What next, VaFan? About how Kimbrel, Kelly (if healthy), Graveman and Velasquez make this bullpen so much better than last year’s unit that crumbled in LA the opening series and never quite recovered 100% from there?
  18. It would be similar to the reaction to Harrison. We need another reliable pitcher more than a 2B with only a 50/50 likelihood of making it through a full season injury or performance regression-wise. In other words, Leury and Romy +Boyd over Leury and Harrison.
  19. Of course…well, it’s good if that potential move pushes the White Sox to respond, but it likely won’t. Now Correa to Detroit would be the one quite a few were predicting months ago because of Hinch in Detroit and how perfectly he would jump start their contention window, like Lester to the Cubs.
  20. You’re forgetting what they gave up for Scherzer and Turner…
  21. Chris “Don’t Call Me Cris” Carter for The Carlos Quentin
  22. Castellanos still isn't good enough defensively...that said, we'd probably just hear the excuse at the trade deadline that they have no financial flexibility remaining to improve the team if they added $18~22 million now. Can't spend $1 if you only have 60-75 cents, etc. At least this way, Hahn has to conceive of a totally new excuse at that time.
  23. He's from Las Vegas...if he wasn't going to be reunited with Harper in Philly, and AZ clearly isn't going to be spending that money, it sorta makes sense. GREAT! THE ROCKIES NEEDED SOME (STAR) POWER 34.78% AWFUL. WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR A PLAYER PAST HIS PRIME 32.61% WHATEVER. IT'S STILL THE ROCKIES, AND THEY ARE STILL DOOMED 32.61% Denver Post fan poll
