  1. The Rider is a better movie by Chloe Zhao, but lacks the gravitas of Frances McDormand. Songs My Brothers Taught Me about growing up on the Lakota Sioux/Pine Ridge Reservation (poorest county in US...Boone, SD) is more entertaining as well. Heck, go Minari and Sound of Metal while you're at it.
  2. Twins and Indians both losing by four runs in the sixth inning of their respective games (NYY, STL).
  3. 3-1 or 4-1 would feel a LOT more comfortable. That said, Moncada's done a lot for this team...also, nice to see Madrigal coming through with more XB hits. He now has a higher OPS than Tim Anderson, believe it or not. Pretty much everyone in the line-up's a threat other than Leury and even Eaton can run into some homers and clutch RBI's occasionally.
  4. Alonso is still only in what amounts to the end of his second full season, entering third year.
  5. Bryant's secret is so simple... he's not a blazer. His dad taught him to always hit the inside corners of the bags when rounding the bases, cutting down on wasted time, movement... straightest path to your destination, like a race car or motorcyclist hitting the inside of curves.
  6. It doesn’t make any sense not to spend another $15-20 million compared to blowing all our prospect capital...it would ensure things get really difficult assuming we’re not willing to throw $200+ million at TA7 after 2024. The reality is that 3-5 year peak window for most rebuilds. Look at the Cubs’ struggles the last three and now fourth years out of their seven year window that was created by holding Bryant back.
  7. Yes, nobody could have conceived how good Chris Bassitt would be in 2021 when that trade was made. Montas was the one with the much higher ceiling.
  8. Those ones with the pig tail script look more like Indians or Reds caps...
  9. Great champions can’t be 0-17 in the post-season against any one team, let alone the Yankees. But already mentioned today somewhere.

  13. Morton did well for Rays but struggling mightily with ATL this year.
  14. Almost identical OPS to TA7. Trails only Moncada, Grandal, Abreu, Mercedes....TA7 by just 10 points or so.
  15. He’s still due a minimum of $32 million for the 2022-23 seasons PLUS $14 million in deferred money...like splitting a signing bonus. That’s $46 million for a two year commitment, including $2 million buyout for 2024. We can split the difference on this year, $7 million for July though September. Grand total is $53 million for 2 1/2 seasons. JR will never sign off on that. They might negotiate on the deferred money commitment, but to lower that $14 million is going to cost more in remaining prospect capital we can’t easily afford to surrender just to save money (see a certain 2016 trade.) Not to mention buying at near peak value when he fell off quite a bit after hot starts in previous seasons...someone like Marte, Gallo or Haniger makes a lot more sense financially. It also frees up a spot for Cespedes or Colas to grow into.
  16. He’s not going to opt out with $66 million (some deferred) due him over the next three seasons... https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/cincinnati-reds/nick-castellanos-14145/
  17. https://www.startribune.com/byron-buxton-needs-to-stay-healthy-rest-of-season-for-big-contract-he-wants/600066196/ Another day, another Twins loss to Yankees.
