If the White Sox simply play like they’re expected to, all these distractions/controversies will go away. Except about TLR’s lineup construction…

Moncada IL, Burger up; Burr IL, Foster up
I got pretty much universally slammed for writing Indians instead of Guardians…but that particular comment about Burger vs. Moncada is actually getting likes and laugh emojis on the previous page of the thread. Which seems like some are condoning it, or laughing it off as sarcasm. But then, every comment can be brushed aside with a similar rationalization. I would assert with 95% confidence it’s someone who was previously banned and has come back with a new screen name. Even all that prejudice about lighter skin tones being more “palatable” to women…just not even sure what to say anymore.

You forgot the part about playing the same RPG e-sports as Jake. Perhaps the ONLY thing the White Sox have done extremely well is opening up so many opportunities for Latin Americans on the playing field, Asians and African-Americans in the front office and among the coaching ranks…and loyalty to a number of ex players as well. This trope about Latin players being too lazy/nonchalant has been around since Clemente. It’s one of those things, like grindy overachieving players in baseball and heady gym rat point guards/coaches’ kids have to be white 98.9% of the time. Tiresome.

Burger is not going to be an outfielder…can we please just let him have one full healthy season at 3B, please? Even watching him at second is a bit reminiscent of Mark Teahen.

Don't think we can make any definitive conclusions about Gavin Sheets at this point...

2022 MLB catch all thread
That was his first MLB appearance, albeit an older guy. Was in Japan last year, throws 100 but wild and obviously made a mistake with the breaking pitch to speed up Beer’s bat. Hence the new closer Rogers, who for some odd reason had an elongated bullpen session in MN and was deemed unavailable to pitch. Weird. Don’t deserve to win anyway getting four hits against AZ. Fans are turning on Melvin already for using Stammen and the untested Suarez in that situation. Abrams should make his debut tmrw.

No game thread yet?
Upset the Cubs didn’t sell out? Their PD thread was up days or weeks ago? At any rate, you’re going to jinx the game thread anyway unless the Cubs and Sox are playing, in which case the Sox will undoubtedly win on an Abreu homer. The other reason is undoubtedly the 60-75% probability the game tmrw is rained out.

2000 after Charles Johnson and 2006 first half. 2003 and 2004 weren't too shabby, either.

Cubs 2022 thread
David Robertson was our closer solution all this time, lol… And Tyler O’Neil is destroying the Pirates almost singlehandedly.

Yes, after the top four, it's garbage. Kwan has potential…but 85% of their talent is in the minor leagues.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
For $60-75 million? Eaton was just a placeholder reach by TLR due to his time in the AZ front office. Probably remembered the player of a decade earlier.

Jeffers will get a lot of starts, as the pitchers really prefer working with him…with Sanchez at DH.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
We are 7th or 8th right now? And there’s just no way they bring back Sale with the current front office in place.

Seems like we have had one continuous string of bad luck with injuries since last season… Guess we’ll get another expose on the training staff if these keeps up. It’s certainly not going to discourage the Twins, Tigers and Indians. Just have to wait until age 27-28 for Moncada to win the MVP like Buxton is threatening to do this year if he can stay healthy one full season.

Now you’ve gone and done it…after he was almost universally defended this past offseason. Parkman will be on the loose. He was at least partially right that something was amiss with how consistently bad his at-bats were across the spring.

TLR 2022 Thread
On the plus side, Seiya Suzuki is expected to have one of the five best seasons for a Japanese hitter in the big leagues...hitting the ground running. How is Little Nicky's health? You have been a bit "under the radar" these days, what happened? Some are picking the Cubs for 3rd and a few even for second ahead of the Cards, although 3rd sounds the most realistic at this point.

Are the 2022 White Sox better than the 2021 team? On offense, yes, by a lot!
Our pick: White Sox (34 votes) Who else got votes? Twins (4) All but four of our voters chose the White Sox to win the division. You picked the Twins. Explain yourself! I am leaning into the great potential of their lineup. The upside up the middle is limitless with Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco (33 home runs last season) and a focused Gary Sanchez. Then you add Miguel Sano, and a contact hitter like Luis Arraez and they can make pitchers truly work. They were an above-average defensive team last season that added a Gold Glove shortstop. It will take some breakout seasons by the other young players, especially on the mound, but they have the talent to do just that. -- Doug Glanville AL CHAMPION Our pick: Blue Jays (16 votes) Who else got votes? White Sox (10), Rays (4), Yankees (4), Red Sox (2), Angels (1), Astros (1) You picked the Yankees to win the pennant. What do you think gives them the edge over our panel's favorites -- namely, the Blue Jays and White Sox? I haven't loved every move of the Yankees' offseason, but they're at least solid average at every spot except maybe fifth starter and middle relief, though those are also the easiest places to find unexpected contributors. With quality prospect depth lingering (Oswald Peraza, Anthony Volpe, Clarke Schmidt, Ken Waldichuk, Luis Medina, Deivi Garcia, et al.) to possibly contribute, the pieces to make another major move if needed, and the inclination to go for it this year, I think the incentives and talent level are right for the Bombers to break through this season, though I'd love to see a couple more pitching contributors emerge. -- Kiley McDaniel https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33645791/2022-mlb-predictions-expanded-playoffs-world-series-mvps-cy-youngs

Are the 2022 White Sox better than the 2021 team? On offense, yes, by a lot!
Look at the FanGraphs postseason odds: Blue Jays: 89.0% Astros: 85.9% Yankees: 83.1% White Sox: 71.5% Red Sox: 62.6% Rays: 58.4% Angels: 43.7% Twins: 41.6% FanGraphs says the four non-O's teams in the division have four of the six highest postseason odds in the league, so the objective computers agree with me. So it shall be. Four AL East teams are heading to October thanks to the 12-team postseason format. 21. The White Sox will reach the ALCS Four AL East teams will reach the postseason, but the White Sox are going to the ALCS. This is notable because a) the White Sox have not won a postseason series since the 2005 World Series, and b) an AL Central team has not won a postseason series since Cleveland won the 2016 ALCS. AL Central teams are 4-23 in the postseason since Cleveland took a 3-1 lead in the 2016 World Series. 4-23! The tide begins to turn this season. The South Siders will advance to the ALCS. Dayn Perry picked the Tigers over the White Sox for the division, fwiw. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2022-mlb-predictions-expert-picks-for-division-winners-and-world-series-champion/

Still miss Cookie and the Grand Prize Game...then there was Wizzo the Wizard. Marshall Brodien (July 10, 1934 – March 8, 2019) was a professional magician who played Wizzo the Wizard, a wizard clown character which appeared on WGN-TV's Bozo's Circus and The Bozo Show from 1968-1994.
