Hahn: Too early to know if Sox will be buyers
Winkler is one of the five hottest bats in the majors and cost controlled...at best, you get Senzel or India. Vaughn’s the only player they would be interested in from the Sox names, but they’re also still paying Votto, thus blocking Vaughn from his best position. And JR isnt going to absorb both Votto and the Castellanos or Moustakas deals simultaneously. You’d have to add Crochet to Vaughn and at least one more pitcher in the minors, or Burger...if you’re really making a legit offer for Winkler. You’d end up not getting full value for Vaughn or Crochet, and you’re forced to overpay for Winkler’s incredible season so far...Top 3-5 in NL MVP voting if held today.

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/mlb-free-agents-2020-21-ranking-top-10-outfielders Springer and Ozuna obviously haven’t worked. Other than Brantley, not sure what move actually was a sound one, in retrospect. Maybe hiring someone from the Rays, A’s or Giants’ front offices. Remain skeptical that Cespedes could have done anything at the big league level even starting his minor league season in May, but we’ll never know now.

Yerminator campaigning for HR Derby opportunity
But he did play for the Whire Sands Pupfish of the Pecos League in 2014...the intimation being he was headed back for Indy Ball at the rate he was going.

Chaldean Numerology The numerical value of teets in Chaldean Numerology is: 3 Which means Hahn is adding three players before July 31st.

Saturdays might even be worse... I guess tonight there was the NBA/NHL playoffs excuse. US Open, etc.

Yep. And our minor league pitching "studs" mostly being underperformers. Also, almost shockingly, Oakland now with second best record in baseball behind SFG.

Well, who knows after Mercedes' April. Especially if he can transition to 2B without getting hurt again at Charlotte. He's not dominating offensively, but he's doing far better than expected after such a lengthy layoff.

Depends on how good Robert is in 2022-23. Still not seeing how we can compensate for leadership loss of Abreu, Gio and especially Anderson after 2024. Those are our Aaron Rowands and Carl Everett's.

We merely want to know if Cespedes and/Vera are going to miss the entire season due to a paperwork backlog tied to Covid and previous admistration policy reversals on Cuba. Never would have thought Burger would be the biggest story of first half, though.

Not "like" worthy. Even with the exclamation point for added emphasis. 3/10 for effort.

I would quote back the Beckham/Getz drawing in the dirt fiasco but that would get me cancelled.

Amazing game from Rodon, the rest of the team, other than Abreu’s single to the opposite field, not so much.

Of course, the Orioles lose four in a row to CLE then are beating up on Toronto... Well, actually surprised they went RHP to Bradley when they could have brought up Naylor...worked out, never like to load the bases intentionally in those situations, seems you always get WP, PB or HBP.

Also, this game will Exhibit A for Boras Corp. arguing for Rodon’s 2022+ contract, even more so than the no hitter.

And Jose Ramirez was lifted from the game for PR. Still have Hernandez, maybe both Rosarios and the hot Bobby Bradley to deal with...

Somehow a single to Reynolds in CF allowed all three runs to score instead of just two. Pirates go to bottom of the 8th clinging to a one run lead at home. Wonder what the quickest blown ten run lead in MLB history is? Must be tonight, if Indians rally in 9th.

11-10 Indians trailing, chance to tie or go ahead...Rivera with huge hit again, and they get Roberto Perez back soon.

Indians just scored 6, only down 11-7 against Pittsburgh...the pesky Cesar Hernandez strikes with two out grand slam.

22nd homer in about 60 less plate appearances and 14 fewer games than Vladdy Guerrero, Jr. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2021&month=0&season1=2021&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&startdate=2021-01-01&enddate=2021-12-31&sort=5,d Semien, Tatis, Jr., Moncada all in the top 11 for MLB...all with White Sox ties

Fernando Tatis Jr. thread
One thing that annoys me is this idea we wouldn't or couldn't have signed Robert had we somehow retained Tatis, Jr. That really doesn't make sense...this idea what how badly that trade went, and there was "only" evidence of the player Tatis was eventually going to be the first two months of the 2017 season (Robert signed at the end of May that year)...that it somehow pushed the White Sox to double down with Luis Robert, even though the Cardinals actually offered more money. Law didn't declare Tatis the #1 prospect in baseball until after the minor league All-Star breaks, 2018. https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/missions/article/ESPN-s-Law-Missions-Tatis-No-1-prospect-in-13089606.php More than anything, because of the subsidy for the Shields contract (which we should have received ANYWAY, see Thome deal for Rowand), we gave up talent instead of absorbing a bigger financial hit...taking the cheap way out. Fine, give up EJ, he was already tarnished but had some prospect glitter remaining.

Heyman: Sox interested in someone on some team. Nightengale: *nods*
Right, not unlike ideas of moving Moncada to 2nd and playing Burger at 3rd...btw, Burgatron just hit his 8th homer for Charlotte. (And Wright has been doing quite well for them too, 2.38 ERA is like 1.38 in any other park.)
