  1. If Bauer, Stroman and Ray are the top tiers and that’s the extent of it...well, let’s just hope we make the playoffs and have the type of team that every competitor wants to be a part of. Of special note is the two Yankees, Paxton and Tanaka. If healthy, big big if, Paxton is close to great. Yet one can’t help but think Tanaka is the one who ends up sticking around for one last contract. So I’d pencil in Paxton as #4 for the Sox.
  2. Carlos Martinez is already an example...
  3. Feels like we say this every year about the Indians...
  4. After waiting so long, one extra day to be 100% safe, push back Saturday to a night game to give extra testing time and shortened DH on Sunday really does make the most sense for both organizations.
  5. I mean big money deals, not waiver claims or injury fliers or 40+ Japanese leaguers scouted by KW via video tapes.
  6. White Sox won’t commit to three years based on Top 4-6 closer in baseball performance level over the past half decade. Not how they’ve ever dealt with relievers, other than Robertson.
  7. We can relitigate Robertson, but the Sox historically have never signed outside closers. Dotel and Linebrink before 2008 would be another example, but those guys at that point were considered high quality set-up men. Traded for Foulke, Jenks off waivers, S.Santos similar story. Traded for Koch. Takatsu was more of a flier. I guess Hermanson, but also a huge question mark when signed due to health. Jesse Crain, etc. Marte trade. Thornton a flier for Borchard. Flash Gordon? None examples of overspending, except taking on Koch’s deal before Carl Crawford and Zobrist tattooed him into St. Pete Bay.
  8. Some Mass. schools are pursuing hybrid schooling. The plan could be a public health disaster As communities throughout the state scramble to craft back-to-school plans that prioritize public safety and academics, some officials have lauded hybrid schooling — which includes some variation of both in-school and at-home learning — as a solution that seems to strike an ideal middle ground between the remote-only and full-time camps. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh substituted the more kid-friendly term “hopscotch” while proposing a two-days-in-school, three-days-at-home hybrid model during a Wednesday press conference. Call it hopscotch or hybrid or blended learning, but some infectious disease experts call it a potential public health disaster. Read the full story.
  9. https://theathletic.com/1992070/2020/08/13/analyzing-the-white-soxs-aggressive-plate-approach-pitchers-fastball-carry/?source=dailyemail . “I definitely wanted to start the party,” said Anderson, who was a double short of the cycle. “The energizer bunny, baby,” he called himself later. “Let them sleep, baby, let them sleep,” he said while explaining that his shush gesture after his leadoff home run was directed at his doubters. “They motivated me like ‘who’s going to be the leadoff guy?’ You know, nothing against Luis Robert, but come on, man. Come on.” “I had 4-for-5 today, I was just taking a little break,” Anderson explained for why the camera caught him lying on his back in the dugout in the top of the ninth. “I think Daryl motivated me telling me about my timing,” he said, crediting the Sun-Times’ Daryl Van Schouwen for motivating him to make adjustments on off-speed pitches. “Shoutout to Daryl, thank you.” “I don’t know, Cheryl, it’s a good question,” he said when WBEZ’s Cheryl Raye Stout asked why he didn’t get that elusive double. “I tried, though. I definitely gave it a try.”
  10. You don’t believe there will be a December FA market? Why?
  11. I just pretended like that franchise didn't have the money to make another big signing because it was too depressing from the point of view of Sox fans. This was the Machado signing. I don't remember making many other comments about signing or not signing someone, other than perhaps doubting we would be able to outgun the Cardinals for Luis Robert. Those are the only two that come to mind, and they weren't exactly "off the wall" positions because there were at least two times we were "nearing a deal" with Machado and it was even featured as a banner headline on ESPN main page...and yet MOST Sox fans still were far from confident of it happening. Of course, the popular argument of the day was that Padres were essentially a small market franchise and couldn't afford to sign someone for hundreds of millions...and that Jay and Yonder Alonso alone were enough to counterbalance that. Robert was a shocker, almost everyone in baseball thought he would go to St. Louis. The two main reasons NOT for that to happen were the rumors of unhappiness from a number of high profile African-American/Latino players, and 2) the Cuban Connection.
  12. Their local tv deal Is one of the worst in the majors, after KC.
  13. Second straight day of negatives for Cards, but...
  14. They can also arrange rotation, but limited pitch counts. Fri. Wainright Sat. Flaherty (uh oh) or Hudson Vs. Giolito Sun. Dakota Hudson, Flaherty or Ponce de Leon (no relation to explorer)
  15. they’re a playoff team for sure. great bullpen one of best in baseball....Lindor and Ramirez two Top 20-25 players, Santana is solid, Hernandez too, Reyes and D.Santana legit threats. Clevinger is a real difference maker when healthy, C. Carrasco solid as well. Civale and Plutko awesome so far byt clearly unsustainable for entire rotation to overachieve consistently.
  16. Send a message to Benetti or Scott Merkin...
  17. Well, there's one certainty. No NYY with Gerrit Cole, they sbsolutely hate each other. How about Self Inflicted Drone Injury Appreciation Night @ GRF?
  18. 0:00 / 3:14 Luis Robert might already be MLB's coolest player | Top 9 84,540次观看12 小时前 White Sox rookie Luis Robert is the name you need to know when it comes to newcomers in MLB. His emphatic playing style along with his cool demeanor make him one of the most exciting players in MLB, even as a rookie. Get to know the Cuban sensation as he makes a name for himself in Chicago! I saw the preview for this just now during the game, Eloy Jimenez calls him "the next Mike Trout."

I doubt every pitcher vibes with their pitching coach on every other team in baseball. That’s just not how this works. I’m sure there are things Cooper does well that have helped guys throughout the system – I mean, players have said as much in the past and to this day. However, at the same time, I’m sure there’s some “traditional” tendencies that not everyone on the team agrees with. At that point, players will seek outside opinions or new data/information than what’s presented. This is not a bad thing in my opinion; rather, it’s a positive development of a willingness and drive to get better on the part of players. We as fans place too much emphasis on what the coaches do for a team. The coaches can’t hold players accountable for their own development, can’t get them to put in work off the field, and certainly can’t throw the pitches for them. They can suggest what they think works and work to find solutions together. But if something isn’t working, it’s up to the players to find new opinions. Check the bottom part, Are Outside Opinions A Good Thing??? Interview/article with Don Cooper. The first paragraph is more about Driveline/Kyle Boddy/Bauer...which I couldn't fit in.
  20. Might have a connection with Giolito...in SoCal. Bauer was at UCLA, Giolito at Harvard Westlake with Max Fried and John Flaherty. Or Giolito's family with all their Hollywood connections...or they're shareholders in a drone manufacturing start-up and Bauer's a customer? They never crossed paths at that West Coast training academy Bauer was always hyping up? Wasn't it in Oregon or Washington state? Can't remember. Driveline? 21. Will try not to hold the Florida Gators thing against him, haha. Josh Fogg also pitched there. Then you have the AJ Pierznyski fandom back to his days at Dr. Phillips in Orlando with Johnny Damon.
  22. Well, yeah, just compare the starting line-ups over the last three days. How many Tigers would be starting on the White Sox? Arguably, only Schoop and Jacoby Jones. Cron is out for the season, but had put up much better numbers than EE/Grandal. So losing to DET was pretty much like losing to the 2017-2019 White Sox teams. (But, as someone noted, White Sox took 11/19 against CLE last year.)
