  1. In an appearance Tuesday morning with Matt Vasgersian and Harold Reynolds on "Hot Stove" on MLB Network, where DeRosa works as an analyst, he said of the game against Italy: "We want to win this game even though our ticket's punched to the quarterfinals." Team USA's ticket was not punched -- and its fate now depends on the results of Italy and Mexico's contest Wednesday night, the final game of the WBC's Pool B. Team USA spent multiple hours in the clubhouse following its 5-3 victory against Mexico on Monday and, DeRosa said before the game against Italy, "There's some guys dragging today." Among Team USA resting a number of starters -- including Bryce Harper and Alex Bregman -- emergency reliever Clayton Kershaw warming up during the eighth inning and DeRosa not pinch running for Paul Goldschmidt as Team USA mounted a comeback after falling behind 8-0, the perception that they believed they had advanced took root as DeRosa's comments spread on social media. Kershaw was warming up, DeRosa said, because WBC rules limit pitch counts and he wanted to avoid using closer Mason Miller if reliever David Bednar reached 25 pitches. Kershaw, DeRosa said, "was the only guy we had left." espn.com Jeff Passan

Basically had to use Yarborough instead of Joe Ryan...
  3. Plot twist of War Machine given away...
  4. Because he wouldn't start over Raleigh or Will Smith...
  5. Or if it pulled off the bone, but that wasn't his reaction limping off under his own power.
  6. Not about injury, about White Sox not playing in any important games since Astros' playoff loss in 2021.
  7. Or Opening Day...but I'd go with WBC from a historical stand point. At least since Japan/USA finale. Teel also learned a ton from Cervelli and Posada about preparing as a catcher. That wouldn't have happened. Or bonding with Antonacci and mlb players.
  8. Or the Braves' slew of pitching injuries. Or Sox minor league pitching/Thorpe all going down early to TJS.
  9. Antonacci is poised out there. Had just enough arm to make the out.
  10. Promoting baseball across world and Italy/Europe, specifically. But that's why Skubal bailed and NFL went to flag and skills competition.
  11. Nearing the end of pool play on Monday, the top of the 2026 World Baseball Classic odds board looked identical to the way it did when the tournament began: The three favorites -- USA (-115), Dominican Republic (+350) and Japan (+400) -- had the exact same odds as they did entering the tournament. How the last WBC helped Team USA assemble its best pitching staff ever The next three teams also maintained their respective positions on the board, though Venezuela (+700), Puerto Rico (18-1) and Mexico (20-1) have all seen their odds shorten by +200 each. espn.com
  12. another former ALMOST White Sox NEW YORK -- Reliever Ron Marinaccio was claimed by the Chicago White Sox off waivers from the New York Yankees on Monday and optioned to Double-A Birmingham. On the Padres now...

  14. Kershaw coming in? What are you doing/thinking DeRosa? Still have Mason Miller.
  15. Antonacci another quality at bat against a tough reliever
  16. Over Teel Ant-Man and Pope Leo?

  22. Chicks dig the long ball.
  23. McLean Keller Yarbrough obvious goats but it's really Lorenzen shutting down B lineup without Raleigh Harper Buxton etc. McLean basically just a rookie...
  24. "Teel was removed from Team Italy's game against Team USA at the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday due to an apparent right hamstring injury, Russell Dorsey of Yahoo Sports reports." At least not his plant leg for hitting.
