  1. Harsh reality: Cavs are cooked – now and forever https://sports.yahoo.com/harsh-reality-noth...-071624777.html
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 05:26 AM) I'm not complaining about one play. I don't mind, in a vacuum, that he passes to Korver there who is open for a three he often hits. I'm complaining that the Cavs, in particular, did this repeatedly in the second half, to the point where LeBron was almost giving away uncontested shots from 5 feet in favor of three pointers, which they continuously missed. At some point you take the easy bucket and/or free throws because of the percentages and the experience you're seeing in this particular game. Both Jackson and Van Gundy commented on this repeatedly. So it's not just about the play to Korver. This occurred 5+ times. As for LeBron, look, the guy is a spectacular player. And I'm not looking to start the discussion of who is the better player, LeBron or Mike. But folks, Mike wouldn't have lost that game. He simply wouldn't have allowed it to happen. Down in crunch time, up 6, down 2-0 in the series, he's not passing the f***ing ball from the lane to a role player. He's f***ing taking Steph f***ing Curry to the rack and finishing or getting fouled to salt away that game. That was the difference between Jordan in his prime and any other player. He simply wasn't going to let you win. That same exact quality as Tiger Woods had from 1997-2008/09 when he held the outright lead in a major. I think he lost just twice when leading after 54 holes, the first time to YE Yang at the 2009 PGA after 14 consecutive... He simply wouldn't allow anyone else to win. Sheer will power. MJ never had it in him to defer, from the time he hit that shot from the baseline against Georgetown in the 1982 final as a freshman. Reread The Jordan Rules for a refresher. It was an incredible thing, because he never had a beautiful arc on those jumpers...they just always seemed to go in at crunch time.
  3. Oakley, Paxson, Gene Banks, Corzine, Cureton....those were the five leading scorers after MJ on the 85-1986 team. The next year, Oakley, Sam Vincent, Corzine, Sellers, Paxson. Ho Grant and Pippen both averaged 8 per game in their rookie campaigns. How are these remotely comparable to anything LBJ had to work with in Miami and Cleveland (2nd time around)? Not to mention MJ's baseball career messed up two additional title runs. And James has had an extra three years of playing in his prime. Not to mention the baseball foray again. Arguably 2-3 more titles had he come out even earlier and not played for the Barons. Michael Jeffrey Jordan (Mike, Air Jordan, M.J., His Airness, Money, Black Cat, G.O.A.T., Superman)
  4. So much for the squeaky clean image of the Cubs. Actually, most of their players are fairly likable...other than Arrieta, Lackey, Strop, and thankfully the Ross tour is over...plus you had Chapman's gun issues and now Russell. I suppose it's still a lot better (statistically) than the major problems with NCAA Div. 1 football and basketball teams. Then again, 100% "adults" should be held to a higher standard, as well.
  5. GOAT hopes gone for good...you can put a fork in them due to GSW. Every year he ages, the ability to close out games in the 4th quarter dissipates further. Just has taken too much hard contact over the years to keep going at this level (not to mention starting at age 18 playing that many games per year) for more than 2-3 more years. (The NBA removing Draymond Green from Game 6 and Curry's injury last year kept the NBA from becoming a complete farce, fwiw.)
  6. Does Burger also have a football background/all-around sports (2+)???

  8. And attendance this year has proven they can fairly easily absorb a bottom feeding AL team and not implode financially. In fact, depending on results with A's and Royals, we'll be in last in the AL Central and last/next to last in the entire AL. Dick Allen referenced the sellout for Buehrle. Sox fans are still nostalgic about the past, and will turn out for those special events. (Of course, the real test is what happens in the second half of 2018 if there are no obvious signs of progress with the rebuild.)

  10. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Logan Morrison having "Humble" from Kendrick as his walkup music is the most ironic, awesome thing ever. I read this as Howie Kendrick having started a music career, until my 47 year old self remembered Kendrick Lamar?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) Ben Badler‏ @BenBadler 1h1 hour ago We have a new video of Cuban infielder Jose Garcia, who has an agreement to sign with the Reds: Was this Jose Israel Garcia? Same guy? 2B/INF?
  12. Wasn't there a rumor a year ago about the Marlins being willing to trade Ozuna for Rodon straight up?
  13. LOL...okay, I plead guilty for overhyping Iowa kids. Who has him for Adopt A Prospect? Dunning also wasn't on the shelf for two years, either. The bottom line is it's hard to expect anything BETTER than what he's accomplished so far coming off TJS.
  14. https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-senator-admo...--politics.html In recent Senate history, when have TWO MEN ever been admonished like this (by members of the opposing party) for speaking out in a hearing...the examples of Liz Warren and now Kamala Harris by McCain? The GOP is just giving the Dems the 2018/2020 elections with all these talking points. The problem is there's too many to put into one 30 second ad, starting with the Gianforte attack on reporters in MT, Eric Trump saying Dems "aren't people" and Handel in GA-6 saying she doesn't support a livable wage.
  15. Where is our Kyle Tucker? Just promoted to AA, has been striking out quite a bit (more) but holding his own, seemingly.
  16. Or Melky is now productive because he recovered from fouling a ball off his face and then came up with a key hit?
  17. Blake Hickman has come out dealing his first two SALLY starts. Pretty much the same level of dominance as Dunning. Impressive, considering the two years of inactivity due to surgery.
  18. Why didn't Smith simply bump into Robertson when he fell over the plate and was trying to throw out Beckham?
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) Again, emotional argument. If a poor kid from the hood born to a single mother gets hit by a stray bullet the hospital will take care of the kid's wound and then the kid's expense once it is learned that the collectability of that account is deemed uncollectible based on the family income. This process is becoming quite a burden on hospitals because of all the high deductible plans Obamacare has skewed the market with. The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) – now known more simply as the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)[1] – is a program administered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides matching funds to states for health insurance to families with children.[2] The program was designed to cover uninsured children in families with incomes that are modest but too high to qualify for Medicaid.Wikipedia If the "average" middle class kids are getting hit by stray bullets on a constant basis in America, we have YUGE problems. Because you simply assumed a situation (the spectre of inner city drug and gang related violence) that has nothing to do with this particular program...it's actually the kind of thing Trump promised to do during throughout the election, to help middle class and "working poor" provide a better life for their kids. Of course, the GOP doesn't believe in a livable wage, so not surprised.
  20. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) Yeah...sometimes I think he nonchalantly plays the game. His hitting approach and fielding executions. Sounds like the same criticism of Alexei after 2008.

  22. Sounds like a humanitarian crisis if ever there was one... He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him. I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
