  1. https://irinapavlova07.myportfolio.com/data...nmates-by-state My ex (speaking of privilege again, or "dumb luck" lol) came up with this, I think it's pretty fascinating/amazing...a visual representation of incarceration rates in the US over the last decade. So I didn't have to work that hard to marry a Russian model who had the talent to get an MFA from Wash U. Must be my "Reddy"-like charm and charisma, certainly not my salary as inner city school social studies and English teacher. Probably why Andrew Card (Bush's Chief of Staff) hit on her when she was working as a waitress at Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ. She had a huge pile of business cards men gave her, despite a visible wedding ring.
  2. Burdi just blew the save and maybe worse...might be bothered by brother's injury? 11 balls, 6 strikes. Wild pitch puts two go ahead runs in scoring position with no outs yet recorded. Another walk, bases loaded, no outs. Coming unglued. Single scores two, three in already and still no outs. Yikes. Pulled for Matt Purke. 8-6. Era up to 3.38 and probably one more will be charged to him unless Purke is Houdini. Nope. 4.34, reminiscent of David Robertson implosion last year.
  3. Narvaez and Willy Garcia were the other two options...to pinch hit. If you're trying desperately to raise Frazier's trade value, and there's the fact he does tend to put the ball in the air for a sac fly when he makes contact.
  4. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ May 27, 2017 -> 07:42 PM) The Minnesota Twins are going to be in first place on Memorial Day. That is nuts. But also the case two seasons ago...before fading. That was even more surprising. One has to think the Indians will eventually wake up and talent will win out, especially their bullpen advantages. Also causes a dilemma about trading Santana, Dozier and Santiago...or even Kintzler at max value.
  5. Root for the rest of the AL Central to fall apart. Pick an NL team, rookie or favorite player...rotisserie league, suscribe to mlbtv or extra innings and scout all the teams. Cheer for Robertson, Jones, Swarzak, Putnam, Petricka...Pelfrey/Holland/MiGo/Shields...and pretty much every young player on the roster to excel or be traded. Wait with excitement for Moncada, Burdi, Fulmer, Lopez and Giolito. Follow the minors and draft. Hope that Melky and Frazier get traded sooner rather than later. Follow the progress of Q and Rodon obsessively. Be happy for Avi, Davidson, Leury, Kahnle, Yolmer, Omar, Willy Garcia, Danish, Kevan Smith, Engel, Ynoa, etc. Fantasize about 2018-19 free agent class, Shohei Otani, Victor Mesa, etc.
  6. White Sox never give up this year...even with more Detroit fans there for the second game. Sox averaging 21,000 per game through 18 official home dates, 28th, but still up from last year....Cincy, Miami and Cleveland all within striking distance....they should draw well Sunday (with good weather) and against the Red Sox, especially Memorial Day.
  7. Not to have any of these 17 things happen (to whites, or white men specifically) amounts to what exactly, if NOT a form of privilege decreed simply by accident of birth? How should we describe it more/most accurately? https://www.buzzfeed.com/michaelblackmon/17...VlAd#.kskbnm5z8
  8. Who taught Engel how to hit that way? Way too much hand movement to get to 95+ fastballs...just from initial position to hitting approach has so much time wasted.
  9. Hayes grand salami, Asche homers, suddenly CHA leads in a heartbeat, 6-5 Moncada a double and triple in his last two ab's. Asche 9/22 since demotion, reached base all four times tonight, three hits and a walk....triple short of the cycle but probably won't hit again unless extras.
  10. I think we left Miggy Cabrera off the HoF list...he's the closest to a sure thing. Obviously, David Ortiz will make it, despite the lingering PEDs whispered and supposedly failed test. Boston Strong!!! Curse out the terrorists, you're basically set for life.
  11. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 27, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) I got the adam Engel call up correct. .500 bare minimum. Lets wait until the season is over before we make a judgement on Jose. Engel call? Some players are just a bit more integral to teams than others...
  12. Two k's for Moncada...
  13. The Detroit fans are pretty vocal this second game...Sox fans with very little to cheer for tonight. Most of the game, hitters couldn't pick up the ball well due to the twilight conditions. Engel's first major league hit on a hanging slider.
  14. He's undoubtedly recruiting Cespedes, who's (in)famous for smoking during games or in the clubhouse...or golfing on game days. Davidson starting to heat up again...Farmer out of the game. 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Abreu should probably have read it better and gotten to 3rd. Oh, well. Holland lowered his ERA to 2.37. Trade value continues to creep up start by start. Greene doing his own Swarzak/Kahnle impression out of the pen. Failed starter. Ynoa one of the three Sox who recorded video greetings to Robert...they share the same trainer/buscone/agent in Edgar Cespedes.
  15. Derek Holland enters Game 2 sitting 8th in MLB era... White Sox tied with Rays for second best run differential in AL, one behind the Red Sox, who are +25. Considering sweeps against LAA and AZ, that's crazy. Also the fewest home games in the AL by 3, 18 vs. 21 for CLE. Detroit has already had three 10 day road trips, Sox will have for in first three months.
  16. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v1433399683...ial-first-pitch Robert first pitch to Abreu...btw, another big hit for Leury Garcia, belly flopped into 3rd. Lot of emotion on the mound from Swarzak and Tommy Kahnle is cool to see. Cody Asche is back and on the bench!!!!! The banner matters again.
  17. First major league victory for Danish. Engel debuted as a PR and scored...will probably start Game 2. LUIS Robert intro/press conference. Crowd was really into this game, especially when Swarzak got Upton swinging with bases loaded in the 7th...and then Cabrera striking out late, too. Moncada turns 22 today, Frank Thomas 49.
  18. Kanhle's striking out almost two batters per inning....37 in 20 ip.
  19. Did Spencer do it in the postseason? Him, Kevin Maas and asanchez stand out for going on absolute hitting tears, Mattingly in the mid to late 80's before injuries derailed him.
  20. President Trump enters the G7 summit in Sicily fresh off tense confrontations at a NATO meeting. The White House is in damage control mode over a report that Trump called Germans “very bad” and threatened to end German car sales in the U.S. https://www.yahoo.com/news/white-house-deni...-040901876.html
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) Kinda sad hearing him say he was depressed when he left the game He had the 2004 World Series ring at least....
  22. Rob Fick and Jeff Weaver were jackasses, Juan Samuel too that day...late April.
  23. 56 pitches, 29 strikes, 3 k's lol in the inning and 4 total walks Bourjos .212 in 52 at bats, fwiw Avi drives a 95 mph heater on inside corner straight up the middle...Fulmer shocked.
  24. Cabrera took wrong angle, should have cut back at angle instead of straight across. Wind got him. Danish needs to back up 3rd, too.
  25. Don't forget the infamous woman with the lock in Berkeley...or was that a dude? Can't remember. http://www.berkeleyside.com/2017/05/24/ber...-lock-assaults/ Guy, Eric Clanton, the professor. Seemed like a woman was fighting, too. Moral equivalents, for sure. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.s...ncart_big-photo Scary looking dude. He was saying that Muslims should die," said Dyjuana Hudson, a mother of one of the girls. "That they've been killing Christians for years." One of the girls was black, the other wearing a hijab.
