  1. Jon Adkins and his 98 MPH heat and Giolito/Fulmer-esque ERA in AAA... At least Felix Diaz pitched one decent game against the Cubs!
  2. Playing for a tie when you're 13-30, have just won 3/4 (after not winning two games in a row for AGES) and playing one of the 3-4 worst teams in MLB is just asinine. Shows zero confidence in your hitters to get the job done. In front of a home crowd who just witnessed the 2nd/3rd no outs debacle and a player getting pulled for apathy/indifference. (And yeah, Fathom's point about pulling Thompson for Palka there defensively was dead-on as well...it wasn't a tie game or 1-2 run lead)
  3. Something's gotta give with the managing...if you can't get your players to hustle (unless they're injured or coming back from injuries like Moncada), then they need to try someone else. The one thing you should be able to guarantee in professional sports is playing the game to best of your ability at all times. Lose because of talent, not effort.
  4. Five chances in a row to get the tying/winning runs in from 3rd blown...JESUS.
  5. https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/21/politics/dallas-morning-news-vickers-cunningham/index.html
  6. And, of course, Jose Rondon is the the only option to PH for Engel...making tonight's bench the new benchmark for weakest in modern-day MLB history...
  7. Everyone has to read through those same lists of names for player comps in draft threads that are wildly inaccurate as well. So who would you compare him to? How about I just come up with a cliche like Nuke LaLoosh..."every player has his own unique traits and characteristics, we shouldn't try to compare one with another but allow everyone to find their own path in the game..."
  8. Is it more interesting to write we should have a "versatile multi-positional player" who can handle all the infield and outfield positions, fields "above average to Gold Glove level" and runs well? Okay. Exciting stuff. Of course, we've already had four players like that in recent years...so they need to hit for a 850 OPS as well.
  9. This is going to be our best opportunity to score...
  10. Rondon bringing the heat, 99.1 MPH for the K on Machado...
  11. They've (first) got to choose between Almora, Schwarber and Happ. They seemingly can't keep all 3, Baez, Contreras, Russell, Bryant and Rizzo. That's too much money, even for the Cubs.
  12. As it stands already, the YES Network struggles to come up with additional content for one of the most storied franchises in sports. Sure, you've got Santo, Harry Carry, the Billy Goat, Billy Williams, Fergie Jenkins, Lee Smith, Maddux and Sandberg...but that's nothing compared to what the Yankees can work with. I also think that "winning fatigue" (see ATL Braves) will slowly set in as well.
  13. Well, yeah...Moncada hitting first or second pitch fastballs will even out (to his advantage) over time in terms of BABIP.
  14. Moncada first pitch hunting tonight...change in his usual approach of being super patient. (Yes, I realize he does have a walk as well, but that's the second time tonight, the first was lineout to 3B in the bottom of the first.)
  15. Hey, Ozzie benched Alex Rios. Once. It nearly set off a firestorm.
  16. That deserves a like, lol. Only my second vote. The first was for Dick Allen's joke to Lillian about Adam Engel being better suited for a batboy career.
  17. They have Morrow still under contract in 2019 as well, right?
  18. They're going to have no choice but to go with Saunders or Tilson sooner rather than later..
  19. Probably because Engle and Thompson are batting ahead of him when there's a RH pitcher on the mound... On the "plus" side, these games against Baltimore and KC give us opportunities to open up some breathing room for the #1 pick in 2019, so there's that.
  20. Do we actually know what we have in Anderson, Yolmer or Davidson??? Might as well make Leury the starting SS and see what Anderson can do playing all over the field...
  21. See also Jose Ramirez, Chone Figgins, Whit Merrifield, Marwin Gonzalez, Bregman, Baez, etc.
  22. Givens always seems to give the White Sox fits...
  23. Because the White Sox have been nearly invisible on a national basis for a decade. I think the ONLY one who could have broken through all that indifference would have been Ohtani, Trout or Harper...
  24. $10 million more probably isn't even enough...because the Cubs are still getting so much more attention in the Chicago, and NYC, Boston and LA are better markets for top athletes in terms of marketing. Let's say it's $350 million....how much more would he be able to generate in sponsorship deals/marketing opportunities with the Yankees, Dodgers, Cubs, Giants, etc.? The White Sox would need to be $25-50 million higher, at a minimum. About the only argument against the Cubs is that Bryant is already established as "the franchise" over there, but it just depends on how important it is for him to be on an "instantly contending" team.
