World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Wow. Great at-bat there by Kluber. Lackey already around 50 pitches. Two errors on Bryant in an inning. Third major league hit by Kluber.

Dante's Inferno. How appropriate this weekend, with the Tom Hanks/Dan Brown movie out. And I guess every single boy in the Midwest will be a Cubs' player for Halloween. You won't see a single Sox uniform.

2016 Presidential Election Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Which is totally legal and I haven't seen Hillary talk about how motivational speakers are bad. I don't really care about the investments in a vacuum, but Stein's the pot calling the kettle black. Johnson knows less about foreign policy by far than Bernie Sanders. It might be even scarier (as a country) to see him receive 8-10% of the vote without even being vetted by a single national debate. https://www.yahoo.com/news/comey-wrote-bomb...-220219586.html So the FBI doesn't even have a warrant yet for those emails. So this whole thing basically is whether Huma Abedin printed off potentially classified info (which she didnt even realize) from her yahoo account after forwarding there from other accounts, whether Anthony Weiner had access to the same documents, and whether he had potentially shared or given access to an underage girl. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/30/us/polit...top-news&hp. 2016 Presidential Election Thread
Trump makes more per speech, and his speeches are all about branding anyway. Plus, Trump University is yet another con artistry extension of a Trump speech/infomercial/The Art of the Deal. Not unlike those current house flipping seminars with Tarek and Christina el Moussa. At least Hillary is not taking money out of the pockets of veterans and middle class Americans desperate to get a get a step up in life with phony programs that are based on high pressure sales techniques. Those are typically the ones who opt for Trump University and for profit educational institututions.

2016 Republican Thread
Washington Times, not reputable. The ones within the FBI complaining the most vociferously are those whose allegiances lie with the right hand aisle of the political spectrum. It's not as if the entire FBI rank and file is Dem because Obama is president. These are agents who have been working for multiple presidents, and, by and large, lean to the GOP, at least slightly. So one, it would not be in the best interests of the country to impeach her...it would be seen as a political witch hunt like Bill Clinton's hearings in 1998/99. Two, it would give them a more difficult, younger opponent in Kaine in 2020. His popularity will be similar to Biden. So if Greg really is a lifelong GOPer until recently, the only thing that will give you the presidency is a complete economic collapse, and a different prescription than trickle down economics. Does really anyone want that? To burn the country down? The GOP simply needs to find a more market-based method to provide health care that doesn't leave things worse for the poor and middle class than 2008. They articulate that vision, they have a decent opportunity to bring Hispanics and Asians back into the fold.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (Boogua @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) When? Kershaw was on extra rest which was the problem. 302 Kershaw (prior to Game 6) vs. 389 pitches for Kluber so far in the postseason. Kershaw ended up at 395. And he did have that seven pitch relief outing against WASH mixed in.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Andrew Miller. If he had never played for Boston or NYY, perhaps not...same with Francona managing Boston. Both are going to sting just a bit for Red Sox fans if the Indians win, although 2013 cured some of that. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jon-hamm-trol...-053705870.html Jon Hamm wears 1900-1919 style Cardinals' cap to Wrigley.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) Sort of reminds me of the Cavs/Warriors finals where everyone pretty much had the Warriors coronated before the series began. Except the Indians' superstar is Francona rather than an individual player, at least in the eyes of a majority of the media. Kluber and Lindor just aren't name brands nationally. Miller, a set up guy, might actually be the most famous coming into the series.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 06:05 AM) Yet had Heyward been playing the whole game, Cleveland may never have scored. Soler just had an awful defensive reaction to that Crisp single, Heyward may have gotten there. Of course, no guarantee he throws out a runner at third or gets a triple to advance into scoring position, either.

Price rising for Sale and Q
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) I'm hoping both the Sox and potential buyers are far more realistic on the value of Sale & Quintana this offseason. The value of elite starting pitching should be apparent after these playoffs, especially with a well-rounded and dangerous Cubs team likely to be in the postseason mix. Teams can't be expecting us to take half-ass packages, not in this market. At the same time, the Sox can't overplay their hand and expect a franchise crippling return. Yes, the package should definitely sting a bit, but it also must make the acquiring team a more dangerous contender in the short-term. We should not be asking for established stars (i.e. Mookie Bette) or require multiple major league pieces if it creates too many holes. I still think a trade with Boston makes the most sense. A Sale for Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Rodriguez, & Groome deal is fair for both sides IMO. That's a lot of talent coming back our way and if such a deal is on the table, the Sox should not blink. They'd probably have the choice of just one of Kopech or Groome...your package seems to be a bit too much for the Red Sox to give up. Perhaps they try to throw in Shaw/Holt instead of a prospect.

2016 Republican Thread
The odds of the Anthony Weiner case having anything to do with national security are 1/10,000... Impeachment? Even the most right wing Republicans realize the damage it would do to the country, and that would put Kaine in office, anyway. Unless the economy completely fell apart, he would have a much easier time than HRC holding office in 2020. Btw, did they indict or impeach Bush or Colin Powell for lying to the entire world? The consequences of that lie were hundreds of thousands of lives lost and only a couple of trillion dollars.

Jeyward should be thankful Napoli bailed him out or he would be heading for even deeper doghouse status...

Clinton, trying to get out in front of the story...actually made it worse. And FBI in quite the difficult position. Classic Catch-22.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Hard to root against Tomlin when you hear the story about his father. Also can't remember the last time BOTH starters were removed without having surrendered a single run.
-
World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Also crazy how the only wind-aided ball was the one Chisenhall couldn't handle against Soler. Especially with Tomlin giving up 26 homers in less than a full season of starts.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
The best news of this game is Miller will be able to go again tomorrow with under 20 pitches. Still can't believe Shaw got through 1 2/3 without a run given up. Just gives you an idea of how goof the Indians are to do this without Brantley, Santana and Carrasco. That would be like the Sox without Eaton, Quintana and Rodon still going 9-2 against 3 of the top 5-6 teams in baseball.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
All the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of Lackey now. Francona 10-1 now in the World Series. Indians' pitching just keeps getting it done. Miller has something like 26-27 k's in 15 postseason innings. Best reliever in the game right now with that slider.
-
World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Gutsy call by Francona to ph for Miller with Crisp. Indians had so many opportunities to blow this one open. Thought that Napoli play would doom them, but Baez diesn't match up well with Allen because the offspeed stuff keeps him off balance.

Talk about greed rum amok. SouthSide bars would be ashamed to post signs like that, especially after 2008. Just makes it easier to root against the Cubs. http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/28/us/ohare-air...dent/index.html Bad omen for the Cubs?

White Sox Claim Rymer Liriano
Might as well be DeAngelo Jimenez II. Once upon a time, there was a reasonable level of confidence that some of these under the radar moves would work out, especially on the pitching side. Now they're all pretty much universally mocked.

2016 Democratic Thread
If Native Americans or Eskimos represented the same percentage of voters as African Americans, Hispanics or even Asian Americans, she would be firmly against it. This simply allows her to hide behind the greatest good for the greatest number centrist economic argument and ignore all the historical atrocities committed against Native Americans...because, economic development/jobs. She definitely will never be as "pro environment" as the typical Dem.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs
Well, that's a lot more defensible than the Nats and Strasburg at least. Probably puts Jeyward, as Maddon calls him, back into the line-up unless he's just there as pr and defensive replacement.
