  1. LOL at Erik Johnson's 8.56 ERA going up against that Orioles line-up right now...
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) so you wn them to win tonight. I can assure you Caulfield does not. Because I want a team that has a realistic shot at the playoffs...failing that, the primary way this current ownership group has shown the potential to really improve the team has been Sale/Rodon/Anderson (high draft picks).
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) clevelamd will cool off. Finnegan is terrible have you seen his peripherals? Duffy has done OK. Certainly not a guy an opponent would not try to compete with because of their presence on the roster. But go ahead and whine about Semien. Whine about Avi. When Duke gets lit up go tell us how you hated that signing from the beginning. Just don't go back and actually look at those threads, because what you wrote then won't match what you say now, LOL. I'm sure you will dredge them up. See, even when a fan tries to be optimistic, it will be used against him later. So wouldn't it be easier if, like some here, I just came out against EVERY single move, and then claimed credit later when it didn't work out? You're arguing against yourself...that I can't say anything positive or at least try to understand what the GM is attempting to do. All that said, nobody here is paid to be GM of the White Sox. We can afford to be wrong in our evaluations, and it doesn't matter in real life. Actually, go ahead. I would be interested in seeing what was written. I wasn't head over heels about Duke, he was a one year wonder concern from the very beginning. I don't remember being particularly excited about Samardzija. I was elated to get anything back for Jake Peavy, because I was never in favor of the extension in the first place.
  4. QUOTE (Insp @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) You'll watch a different game, but stay here? I have a laptop and Ipad. Can listen to one on the radio, follow another online and watch another through MLB.TV (when the stream's actually working).
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) If they realistically can't win and you bandwagon on other teams because you claim you appreciate good baseball, why do you spend so much time in game threads when bad baseball is being played? Do you really think it will influence JR what anyone says on a messageboard, or Ventura? It's called venting. If my Chinese wife understood baseball, and wasn't working right now....I would talk to her about it. Not that it would do any good. EVENTUALLY, someone in the front office will take note of what the Indians and Royals (back in the day, the Twins) are doing, and try to either emulate them or maybe even try to beat them.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) Do you hope at the beginning of a game the Sox lose.?Caulfield was OK posting tonight because his new favorite team, Cleveland was plying Atlanta, the worst he would do is break even. Here we go...you can keep writing this in August and September when game threads are ghost towns, UNLESS JR orders a massive sell off and we have real, legitimate young prospects injected into the line-up. You're the one who said Cleveland would cool off...you're also the one who said Danny Duffy and Brandon Finnegan were terrible. I think EVERY time you argue the opposite side of what I say, that player/manager/front office person takes off on a roll. It's like Greg and his house bets.
  7. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) Lmfao. Your definition of a fan is pretty horrible. You can argue wanting Ventura and Hahn and KW GONE is being a bad fan...because being a "good fan" and supporting another middling .500ish team that has zero chance at the wild card without major additions (which will be bungled) is the definition of insanity. Expecting different results from the same management team isn't wise. It's that simple. The Bulls' fans are having the same arguments about going "all in" versus playing for draft position and seeing it as pointless to finish 8th in the Eastern Conference and then get run out of the building by the Cavs in 3. The White Sox can't even argue about making the Wild Card being a BAD thing because they realistically don't have a chance anymore with this team.
  8. CLE +16 KCR 6 GB DET 7.5 GB CHW 8.5 GB There's no way you can sell out the farm unless you get assets like Bruce that will help for next season as well...and if there are any reasonable doubts about Fulmer's future as a starter, you can consider trading him for the right player.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Pitching around one of the best average hitters of our Life to face a .252 hitter. Probably everyone's idea. Except: 1) He hasn't been that hitter for five years. 2) He's left-handed. 3) Dozier had already homered earlier.
  10. Things are so bad I'm actually changing over to the Cubs/Reds game. At least that one is interesting.
  11. Cue appearance from certain posters to argue with those who have been here the entire game...claiming we're "bad" fans because we're posting in a game the team is losing (which, honestly, just never happens since May 6th). That OFFICIALLY shuts the door on Q's nascent Cy Young campaign. It's Sale or bust.
  12. A curveball after a freaking change????? REALLY? What the ---K?
  13. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Yeah because our CF right now has tons of power Anderson and Eaton over time are going to give you similar power numbers...that's not their strength. When Eaton had that home run binge in years past, it adversely affect his game and he started getting out of game and swinging for the fences. See Willie Mays Hayes scene in Major League. The dude leads the AL and probably majors with infield hits.
  14. One more out to go. The bottom of the Twins' line-up might be worse than ours. MIGHT.
  15. Engel has a 742 OPS in Birmingham this year, and it's trending up. He MIGHT be better than Austin Jackson. Will turn 25 this December. If anything, he profiles more like Adam Eaton-Lite. But, if you have Eaton and Engel in the same outfield, you absolutely have to get huge power numbers from RF/DH. Otherwise, you won't be able to contend. PS: Say whatever you want about Trayce Thompson, but at least he knows how to accept a walk.

  17. More blown opportunities with RISP. Nothing new. Can't fire Steverson. Would look ridiculous at this point.
  18. 4-2 Indians. Tigers leading 7-4 over the Marlins after trailing 3-0 early. Royals losing 4-2 at home against StL. At least the asking price on Vizcaino is coming down. On the other side of the coin, he can't get the Indians out.
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) You don't bunt that early in the game at home, especially with a guy who can handle the bat like Eaton. It's at least somewhat debatable because of the Q Factor, but it was the right move. Eaton's one of the best players in baseball. Indians go ahead 3-2 top of the 9th in ATL on a Carlos Santana single against Arodys Vizcaino.

  21. Wonder who the Cubs would offer us for Robertson or Nate Jones...?
  22. Almost wishing Ventura had Eaton bunting. Almost. Because giving Q a 2-1 lead there was almost more important psychologically for Jose than playing for the big inning at home and early.
  23. Gibson will also kill you with sinkers, forcing you to hit it into the ground. No surprise to see a low-scoring game, regardless of the 6ish ERA from Kyle coming in.
  24. Sigh. Why is that not a surprise?
  25. Yep, giving up on Avi means another "failure" by the Sox front office. They cut guys like Latos/Rollins/Danks (not on Hahn), Bonifacio, Downs and Keppinger loose early, but Avi's been promoted from the very beginning as a key component of the retooling and definitely a part of the young core.
