6/26 Games
It worked with Lincecum, butbhe's a former Cy Young winner, Edwin Jackson's done okay... And we already have one lefty gas can in Duke now, one more won't hurt, and can't be worse than Jennings.

When is the last time an NL player got better with Sox?
This year, we have Samardzija, LaRoche, Duke and Bonifacio all struggling to various degrees. Dan Jennings ,as well. Everyone remembers Dunn in 2011, and Jake Peavy for most of his time with the Sox. Is it just bad luck, bad scouting or there really is a signicant difference between the two leagues? Thinking back, it feels like only DBacks (Javy V., Edwin Jackson, Quentin and Eaton) have at least held their own in Chicago...along with the Cubans. The only other examples I could think of were Pods coming over from the Brewers, and Thome from the Phils. What gives? It seems this trend goes back a ways, even to Steve Sax and Tim Raines when he first left the Expos.

Duke was very good against righties and lefties before joining us (mid 600's ops-wise). NL to AL switch bites us again. Dunn, LaRoche, Samardzija, Bonifacio, etc. He's about as bad against all hitters this year as he was previously good.

Have we ever had a single minor leaguer come up and execute a sac bunt in a key situation? If slappy middle infielders can't even do it, there's no prayer for anyone else. Ventura's decision-making the last two innings didn't help. Where was Putnam? Why is it assumed Duke matches up equally well with righties and lefties? For an offense that's only scored 50 in their previous 20...with the bottom of the order up, you have to think tie more than big inning, and that the Sox bullpen can beat the Tigers' pen eventually.

Ventura sucks....as does our ability to move over runners/sac bunt.

Of course, more terrible bunting by Sox players. Sigh.

Swung through a hanging curve...just like Abreu against Rondon late yesterday (slider)... Ventura is clueless. Shuck bailed him out, but Sanchez can still hit into a dp.

Going for the win on the road? Flowers is a fly ball hitter, you have to get the runner over to third and tie it. Now Shuck is phing for Flowers? Dont get it.

Avi not making contact with Cabrera at third and only one out now looming even larger... Oh, well. At least Eaton is coming alive...Garcia tries to redeem himself. Someone missed a sign there? Now Beckham's not bunting. Geez.

Is Putnam hurt again?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) Zach Duke is a real b****, a total f***ing coward. The season was over long ago...no point in getting that upset anymore, it's a waste of emotion. Just know that Quintana will be snakebitten and accept something disastrous will occur. It's almost like the team expects it as well at this point.

It's almost like this is the 8th inning, must use Duke regardless of the situation.

Cabrera closing in on a 600 ops as well...finally had slugging pass obp. Too little, too late, though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) Seriously Rajai Davis HR? Seriously? More likely Tigers' fans saying the same about Eaton and Flowers.

Goodbye, lead. That was quick. This bullpen is Getting Nailed.

At least our offense is efficient tonight. Castellanos would't have made that play last season.

Multiple Victims in Charleston SC Church Shooting
Or, if you're offended that someone cheated on their wife, the only presidential statue to be erected in the future will be of Jimmy Carter, by all accounts, our worst but smartest and most moral president and the one who has done the most since leaving office. But...back to the y2hh point, it would be a true shame if a kid can't play a Stratego or Risk-like Civil War based strategy game because there happens to be a Confederate battle flag as part of the game. That's sanitizing the past to the point where it soon becomes unrecognizable.

Almost five homers by Cespedes against Quintana in the last year... Maybe a dead arm, because he's not getting his normal movement...just not crisp enough to get away with mistakes.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) Crede would've. Got on him fast and went off the top of the leather. Looked like he was surprised he even got a glove on it. Or Uribe, Vizquel and Beckham.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 06:31 PM) Q is a battler... but I swear the moment you give him a lead he gives it back. And/or there's a defensive lapse or two behind him...

Should Gillaspie have caught that ball?

Cabrera getting killed by that slider/cutter in under the hands. Still has higher Obp thand SLG.

Quintana 5th in war amongst all mlb lefties since 2012, ahead of Bumgarner and Lester.

Eaton almost misjudged that...would have been a triple. Great recovery though.
