  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 05:06 PM) I am not sure what that has to do with Gimenez acting like he cares more then Flowers does Simple, Flowers was given the position and didn't even come into the season ready physically. It was almost like the White Sox "owed" him the starting catcher's job after all that time. Gimenez seems to appreciate his opportunities more, just going from body language.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) There's something about striking someone out with gas that makes it more legit. Getting blown away with gas, is way more demoralizing than missing a curve or change. Speaking of demonstrative and getting K's with gas...here comes Balfour. Orlando Cabrera on-deck.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Gimenez gives so much more emotion then Flowers Nothing like a 30 year old rookie who debuted at the MLB level in 2006.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) It's scary how closely Keppinger's time here looks like Teahen's. Teahen, 3 years, $14 million. Keppinger, 3 years, $12 million. Among the dumbest moves for both Sox GM's.
  5. Thanks again, Keppinger. At least Viciedo didn't misplay it into a run this time. I don't think you walk Cespedes to face Donaldson...even though Yoenis had been hot the last two weeks.
  6. How is that a hit? What's the first thing an infielder learns? Keep the glove down, then adjust up. It's 10X harder to expect a hop and when the ball skips, get your glove down and recover. Need to watch some video of Uribe, Keppinger.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) I'm really starting to believe that. He's not strong enough defensively to play CF everyday (long-term at least) and he doesn't hit enough to be a good corner outfielder. Whether you stick him in LF or CF, it seems like he'll be an average player at best. He'd make a terrific 4th/platoon outfielder for a lot of teams, but the problem for us is he's already in the process of being paid like a starter. The only good news is Trayce Thompson had a strong May. He might be ready for the starting CF job by opening day 2015. $2,075,000. No way they offer him arbitration for 2014 at this rate. He might not even last all of 2013 in a Sox uniform. JJ Hardy had two homers off Verlander today. That doesn't happen often. Five homers for the Tigers.
  8. DeAza....c'mon. Quintana, DONE. Lindstrom, probably.
  9. Really pretty scary movie that has lots of interesting Berlin (tunnels/underground/bunkers) sights, it's called Urban Explorers.
  10. Well, no shocker yet another pitcher entering a game with an ERA over 5 starting against the Sox shuts down our offense.
  11. White Sox RC/27 (AL Ranks). 38. Rios, 5.57 De Aza 4.04 Ramirez 3.93 Konerko 3.72 The only Sox hitters in Top 80. OWAR over 0.5, the only ones are Rios (1.3), Ramirez and Gillaspie. And Konerko's hurt again....SIGH.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) I think he's at least in part at the "Fun bad" point. Particularly with that rundown Did they skip rundowns in spring training too? Manny Machado on a pace for 73 doubles....to beat the record by Earl Webb of 67. Darvish for 327 K's. Nolan Ryan with the record, all-time. Hack Wilson's 191 RBI's...Cabrera might challenge. Matt Lindstrom warming. 2nd time Cespedes picked off by a LHP in the last week or so, fwiw.
  13. WHAT THE HELL WAS DE AZA DOING THAT TIME?
  14. Lawrie's been pesky this year. Probably an All-Star, with all SS's having down years so far. Then you have to take 1-2 from their rotation and the AL's best bullpen. 60 hits already this year...2nd to Josh Donaldson. Cooper visit to the mound. Quintana somehow survives for another inning. Laboring.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) I'll take him He can be reunited with Paddy, Molina and Zach Stewart. Jays also put Brandon Morrow on the DL. When it rains, it pours. Moral of the story: You can never win by spending your way into contention (see Marlins in 2012, Blue Jays, Angels/Dodgers) unless you're the Yankees or Red Sox and could outspend by 50% the rest of MLB. All of that meant someone had to be removed from the 40 man roster—and that someone turned out to be Romero. Romero’s future with the organization is now in serious doubt, as is his major league career. There are several options, most of which will keep him in the organization, but there is little to no indication that he is anywhere near making a return to the big leagues. Romero’s latest downfall was a two-thirds of an inning stint in which he allowed five hits and eight runs. He walked the final three batters he saw, each on four straight balls. That’s a stunning contrast to the left handed pitcher who rocketed to stardom three seasons ago, and signed a $30 million contract. He appeared to be the face of the franchise, now he’s out of the picture in Toronto until someone can figure out what has gone so wrong with him.
  16. 17/65/.373 batting average for Cabrera. 51-195 pace. Tough choice for Player of the Month in the AL!
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) It's hysterical that a supposed home run hitting team is 13th in the league in homers. And the Sanchez Brothers (joking) can improve those numbers dramatically. "Beckham will fix it." TM
  18. Ricky Romero lhp 5 years/$30.1M (2011-15), plus 2016 club option 5 years/$30.1M (2011-15), plus 2016 club option signed extension with Toronto 8/14/10 $1.25M signing bonus 11:$0.75M, 12:$5M, 13:$7.5M, 14:$7.5M, 15:$7.5M, 16:$13.1M club option ($0.6M buyout) Romero to make $0.1M donation to club charity Credit to the Jays for eating $20.6 million. But wow, AA's going to lose his job with more moves like this one.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) I'm not sure what, but I think a big change(s) is coming in the next two weeks. Bikini All-Star softball game at USCF with Kate Upton in slo-motion? Ricky Romero has been outrighted off the Blue Jays' 40 man roster. Coop can fix him. 20 walks and 3 strikeouts in AAA. Incredible. Top 10 in AL Cy Young voting not so long ago.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) I'm not sure what, but I think a big change(s) is coming in the next two weeks. Everyone's making the observation that DeAza thinks he's a power hitter and not a lead-off guy anymore...seems something has to give there, with how bad he's been defensively, the elevated K rate, the base-running mistakes, the fact he's not comfortable in CF, etc.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Back-to-back-to-back for Tigers. I can't remember Peralta ever hitting this well...even for the Indians. Twins are about to catch us from behind, lol. At least their fans had something to cheer about today with the miracle comeback.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) Yeah his OPS is almost.600. Say what you want, he always has a knack for driving in runs. Especially against the Sox.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 03:02 PM) I don't think I've ever heard Hawk and Stone be this critical. Critical or who/m or what exactly? Ventura? The players? Manto? Of course, Rios strikes out...SIGH. Getting tired of the appendectomy being the excuse for the last 2 1/2 years of Adam Dunn non-performance. Dunn got lucky there. Slow reaction by Fryman, didn't pick up the ball off the bat...
  24. Victor Martinez starting to heat up for DET. That's not a good sign. Peralta and Avila also homered, three hitters in a row. Peralta's on fire now. Well, we advanced the runner to 3rd. Need to get this back to a one-run game or...
  25. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Looks like a decent crowd for Oakland but I cant really tell due to the awful stadium setup Cespedes Jersey Day. They claimed it was going to end up around 25K. Beautiful weather there.
