  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) Omo and Nate can sit next to each other on the plane....to CHARLOTTE! Replaced by Ramon Troncoso and Remenowsky, lol? We might as well bring back Ehren Wasserman, Jeff Nelson, Chad Bradford, Takatsu...or any random ex-Royals. Who was that big LHR, about 6'7", that was a complete flop in 2007 we got from the Royals? Don't even want to remember that brutal season. Just remembered, Sisco.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) I Am Legend was OK, until the lame ending. I liked Hancock, and MIB 3, and Seven Pounds. The only bad movies I see in your list is Bad Boys (insert any number). Give me a more imaginative movie like Chronicle anytime over Hancock.

  4. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Viciedo sucks and always will suck. Flame away. Don't have the energy. Marty can file it away for future reference to join his crusade (which has been silent recently, but will wake up again surely).
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) This team has been so dysfunctional since winning the WS title. Just doing stuff that can't be explained like losing 3 in a row to the s***ty Cubs and getting blown out of all three games after a hot streak got the team to .500. I'd suspect we ain't getting over .500 this season. I'm done. No more negativity today. This team has totally ruined my week post Memorial Day. Thank GOD for the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS!!!! Not to mention the Royals, lol. The amazing thing is that we entered today with the 2nd best all-time record in inter-league play since 1997, at 41 games over. Remember 2010? Those were the days...at least compared to this season against the NL. Swept by the Cubs (well, so far) and Nationals, swept the Marlins, can't even remember the NY trip because this season has become so wearisome already.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Wood is a very solid pitcher who seems to be getting better. He's definitely someone you can project into the rotation for the next few years. That's more than I would say about Axelrod. He's a valuable asset to their organization. Plus he's left-handed.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) And what changed this team from last season when defensively we were so good? It's 100% the Gordon Beckham Effect. Funny thing is how much AJ was criticized defensively, but our 2 catchers this year have been even worse....
  8. As long as Jackson, Cabrera, Fielder, Verlander, Scherzer, Sanchez and Fister are healthy in DET, they're going to be the favorites. IMO, they're better than the Cardinals, if Verlander has his plus stuff. Although the bullpen's questionable, Valverde's been on a roll again. Heck, if a 36 year old Jason Grilli can go 22/22 in that division, anything's possible.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) But it's still fine to project the Cubs getting to the playoffs first. Because you know, Sale + Viciedo + the rest of the Sox pitching staff If you throw in the comparative states of the two farm systems, yeah. And the fact that they're a couple of weeks from another front-line collegiate starter. Now if Baez, Almora and Soler all flame out and their draftee turns into Prior II, there's no reason to worry about the Cubs, haha.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Really? I thought the opposite. But this After Earth is a test of that, and so far it looks like I'm wrong, LOL. Will Smith needs to stop thinking these apocalyptic movies or anything with M. Night are good career moves. He's gone from the most popular/charismatic actor in America to a question mark. So many disappointments...I Am Legend, Hancock, MIB 3 was decent, Seven Pounds, this one. Pursuit of Happyness was his last good one a full 7 years ago. Bad Boys 3 and Hancock 2? Really?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) Now that would surprise me, as I bet Cooper thinks the chances of fixing him are better at the MLB level than in AAA. They've already said Jones isn't going to be demoted and that they have to fix his problems at the big league level. There's no quick solution in AAA. And Webb's too raw to just throw into the fire.
  12. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:59 PM) Quick, someone email BROOKS! Sox should wear these jerseys on Saturdays... Good thing Harrelson's not there for this one. TWTW...not so much. Maybe he would have a final, ultimate meltdown and just walk out of the booth. It had to be annoying him Monday when the Cubs were getting more cheers than the Sox on their home field.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) I think Viciedo is the person that gets benched tomorrow vs the RHP Does Dunn really have any chance against anyone? His days are numbered, at some point, you have to play Viciedo everyday and worry more about 2014. We're not there yet...but Dunn's just brutal/abysmal/atrocious/egregiously bad. Maybe being on the road, away from the embarrassment of the occasional boos from the home crowd, he can get it going again.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) I could see it being Alexei, Gillaspie or Wise tomorrow night. And, to think, it was 5 years ago and we couldn't believe Wise at that point in his career was a viable option over Swisher, lol. Yet here he still is...
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) I don't like that dynamic. If you were working for someone for many years and he decides to move on and you get his job, if he is still there and technically your boss even though he insists he won't interfere, and goes to great lengths not do, you have to be affected by his presence. I would love if they brought in Matt Silverman from the Rays organization. They just need a clean reboot....fair or not, Hahn's too closely identified with the KW regime.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) Wonder if Peavy is hurt. With the way the pen has been used and the fact that scoring 5 more runs are not possible with this team, taking Peavy out is a waste of time. Nathan Jones not exactly doing a good job holding his roster spot, either. 1-2 mistake pitch smoked out of the park. 96 MPH...adios. SIGH.
  17. If you look at one of the keys again, it's Keppinger's lack of range and defensive "ability" allowing an earned run to score when it would have been a fairly simple play for Beckham...worst-case scenario, the ball stays on the infield and is at least knocked down.
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) He hit pretty well. In reality he and dunn should platoon at DH which is f***ing sad. Manto should be fired because his philosophy was good 10 years ago. If you're going to play Viciedo only 1/4th or 1/3rd of the time against LHP, and play Danks/Tekotte/Wise in LF, you're just giving up on the season and fulfilling the Marty Prophecy...which is a sell off of everyone, and you might as well just DFA Dunn while you're at it and start over completely. Heck, just promote Trayce Thompson and move DeAza to LF, so we can get a Top 5 pick in the draft and hopefully not blow it.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Not really, just the last few days. Viciedo was hitting something like .392 and walking more than he was striking out. Even though these games are magnified, the idea of playing Danks/Tekotte/Wise is laughable, especially since Dunn seems to be dead and Konerko's on a pace for only 15-18 homers. Rios is ice cold...as bad as he was good during his hitting streak.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) With Keppinger's awful defense this year, the Sox basically have 4 designated hitters out of their main 9 players. It's hard to have a good defense with that type of personnel. Gillaspie, Ramirez (and he has 7-8 errors) and Rios (and he hasn't been nearly as good as last year) are the only above average defenders. DeAza, Viciedo, Konerko/Dunn, Flowers/Gimenez and Keppinger have all been bad. So make that 5 DH's. And DeAza's trying to be a DH instead of a lead-off hitter.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) Jordan Danks please. We're playing for a Top 5-7 draft pick next year? At this rate, the State of Illinois is going to be subsidizing the White Sox attendance numbers because they're going to be absolutely brutal if we get 8-10 games behind the Tigers/Indians and sell off...
  22. Viciedo needs to be benched for a day or two. This type of defense is just unacceptable, bad weather or not.
  23. 9/22/08 off Scott Schoeneweis of the Mets. Scratch that, Jon Niese. Last grand slam for a Cub pitcher, Jason Marquis, haha.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) I told you all coming in that the Cubs hitting from their pitchers has been unreal. What a joke the Sox are this year. The Cubs are among the league leaders in XB hits... And that's with Castro having a down season.
  25. So much for Peavy the ace. Yeah, he's been good in April and May again...but that style of pitching doesn't work as well during the summer months when the ball's jumping like it is today.
