  1. Well, the worst thing you can say is Q has responded and save the bullpen the 3 times he's been bad at the beginning of a game. The two other times, he hung in there and the team ended up rallying for wins. It's when he has a 1-0 lead or tie game in the late innings that the Sox are in real trouble when he's on the mound.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) I really hope Tigers didn't get Reed Johnson, but it would make sense to get him with all the lefties in the Sox rotation. I think I would rather face him than Berry or Boesch. Reed Johnson's the least of our problems right now.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) Sox are hitting a ton of balls right at the Twins defenders. With that said, yes please to Rios batting 3rd. Then you have Rios/Konerko back-to-back and Dunn/AJ. You don't want to do that. And no way you can move Viciedo up right now in between them, despite the fact he's on a pace for 22-25 homers and 75-80 RBI's.
  4. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) Horses*** Ummm....he's kind of leading the majors in homers and Top 5 in RBI. At any rate, Dunn always struggles when he gets behind in the count. He has at least one more at-bat, though.
  5. Just can't seem to get that big go-ahead or tying hit with RISP. One of those Minnesota games. They're battling and all having good at-bats. Eventually, they have to punch through.
  6. Willingham owns Quintana. Just lucky to keep him in the park so far tonight. Chris Carter and Rizzo fighting for "comeback" dismal rookie debut, great second campaign award.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Why the hell was Tank just staring at the two fastballs he got? The second one dotted the outside corner. Some hitters just don't like to swing on the first pitch. Youkilis almost never does, for example. Comfort level.
  8. Shades of Torii Hunter against Carlos Lee there. LOL. That wasn't going to be a homer, but it was close.
  9. Aceves will get the save opportunity against the Tigers with at least a 2 run lead. Gonzalez, Middlebrooks and Salty looking for insurance runs. And that annoying Ciriaco is playing SS for them. He kilt us.
  10. Two bad errors in a week against DOZIER. One left Alex Rios safe at 1B and resulted in a crooked number. Take advantage, need to turn the line-up over somehow this inning....
  11. One thing's for sure, if we keep playing like this defensively against the Angels, we're going to be very lucky to take one game against them this weekend at USCF.
  12. Tigers pulled to within 4-3 now, bottom of the 7th in Beantown.
  13. Well, DeAza and Ramirez should have gone on the DL the way they're both playing. That was a Juan Pierre-esque or Damon throw there. Rajai Davis, maybe.
  14. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) This one is over. Books out on Quintana Bad location and getting behind in counts. Bad command in the strike zone. Has thrown way too many innings compared to past seasons in the minors. He was going to inevitably hit the wall at some point. That said, he'll be fine and come out of it eventually. He can still get out of this inning only down by 1.
  15. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Kendrys Morales just hit a 2 run homer & a grand slam in the same inning.....Trout also went yard again. Outside of starting Felix Hernandez or Cliff Lee against them, no White Sox team is going to be favored against the Rangers or Angels in that one game playoff. They have to take the division if they want to advance this post-season. Then again, if they somehow won that game, they'd have a lot of momentum and the "bye" team would find themselves back on their heels but with a pitching advantage holding their #1 starter back. Another ERROR. Both our "injured" guys are struggling in their comebacks.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) HE's already thrown 92 pitches? What inning? Bottom of the 6th. DET now hitting top of the 7th.
  17. Textbook game in Minnesota. White Sox errors, Twins dinks, Twins defense and "luck" with at 'em balls.....White Sox power versus Twins' "grindiness" or whatever you want to call it. Luck seems to go their way, against us at least. Not in Chicago, anymore. But this series is very dangerous with Diamond lurking and no idea which Liriano will show up against his former team. Not to mention Blackburn will be super-motivated to beat Francisco, maybe the most motivated he will be all season long in any game at home.
  18. Scherzer just threw 98 MPH on pitch 92. Pretty amazing to have two guys like that on one team. Unfortunately for Max Patkin, Jr., he's down 4-2.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) It mattered he got 2nd base on the error and scored on a single. So you have the botched ball (not an error, but he regularly makes it) against Span, the ball thrown away (could have been an out and only 4-2), then Doumit advancing to 2nd and scoring on the Valencia hit. So three "deleterious" plays in the last game plus that he normally makes.
  20. What's the biggest lead we've blown this year? The Peavy 6-0 lead against the Tigers? Sale against Kershaw in LA? Those two games stick out, for some reason.
  21. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) Doumit was going to be safe regardless. So the error didn't matter. The runner (Doumit) wouldn't have been at 2B, though, for Valencia. So the 4th and tying run would have been stranded. If he didn't hesitate a bit and do the 360 spin, he has him...75% chance, at least.
  22. Not a good pass at a 3-1 pitch there Adam. Oh, well. Would have loved to get Konerko (Mr. 857 against De Vries) up there somehow.
