  1. For some reason, I just had a vision of Greg as Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception urging his wife not to jump. Blackburn against Floyd, that's not exactly confidence-inspiring. On paper, it's the worst match-up of the series for the Sox.
  2. We're also about to be 1-5 in all our games this season at exactly 2 games below .500 For Greg Hibbard, Pavano was leading 7-0 the last time out and the Twins blew that game to the Brewers eventually.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Huh? In no way was I saying the bad F word. It was me trying to say Fire Ozzie Guillen without breaking the "no fire" streak in the thread. Sorry if any confusion. I was joking. Well, this still isn't worse than the game Freddy Garcia started early in the 2009 season that we gave up 20+. Let's go, Royals. In the process of cheering for teams playing CLE and DET, we just might get passed by the Twins. It's kind of funny since they were 20 games below .500 this season.
  4. Humber now over a 3.00 ERA. And out of the ballgame. And the deluge continues. With 28 losses out of 35, you'd almost be tempted to bet against the White Sox tmrw. 8 wins in a row for the Twins. But I could never, ever do that. It would be the game the White Sox win and you'd end up kicking yourself for weeks.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) I dislike Ozzie as much as anyone, but this just isn't the Sox year so far. No manager in baseball could have this group of players playing hard. Something that's interesting to think of is that maybe the Sox need to go away from bringing in guys with a reputation of not being "winning" players. Dunn and Rios definitely had that reputation coming into the year. Javy too. Interestingly, Swisher and Cabrera were the players with the consistent "winning traditions" in their backgrounds (and have continued to be). We did bring in Crain, and he's been as good (or better) than expected. Oops, I guess things can get worse. Teahen, what the hell was up with that freaking lollipop throw???? Konerko falling apart. Pathetic. Beckham wasn't paying attention on that play, either.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) F____O____G______ Thank god Ozzie's name doesn't start with an A Are you Jay Mariotti in disguise?
  7. Cooper's energy getting out to the mound for Humber is about the same energy we've had this entire game. Flat from the get-go, and Humber pitching scared for the first time in ages. Doesn't help not to be able to throw many runners out on the basepaths.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) It really makes me wonder if we will even beat them once this season. This could get really interesting how many times they can beat us in a row. At least 8. That's the same number the Tigers got to before we finally beat them this season.
  9. Hibbard, do you and greg have a "secret PM" agreement to defend Juan Pierre? Can I join your cabal, just for fun?
  10. There should be the same investigation into Mark Teahen robbing the White Sox blind than there has been with Countrywide Loans. "The White Sox just don't it collectively as a team. They have a lot of good players over there." Gardenhire's explanation for Twins' success against us.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) What's wrong with Phil(ip) tonite? Weird. The lack of faith in the team by SoxTalk posters has caused him to go in a funk. And we have to remember, they're playing us without Morneau, Kubel, Delmon Young and Denard Span. We bring them to only 5 games under .500 at the ASB and all bets are off in the 2nd half.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) I believe Valencia will put this game out of reach if he comes up Almost the call. But it was probably over already at 3-0. Or before the game even started.
  13. It's peanut butter and Hector Santiago time. "Guillen, you're nothing but Gardenhire's b****." Rosie (Victoria's Secret supermodel/baseball analyst)
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) It's just ridiculous. I really can't believe Jerry Reinsdorf is not going to feel an obligation to fans to press for some changes to this team, even if it's just a call-up from AAA. Poor Viciedo...the expectations on that guy if he does come up...not fair. We'll probably be 7-8 games back by then and it won't matter as much. Really, getting swept here might be the thing they need to just say "f--k it" and completely played relaxed and winning baseball in the 2nd half. 9/71...closing in on 12.5%
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) Dunn 4th, Rios 5th. If the Sox score 3 runs or less, is it really Greg Walker's fault? Fire JR!!! What was the Las Vegas line for stolen bases in this game against us? Thankfully, they don't have Span in the line-up. "Looks like the Twins have their way with the White Sox. They can do whatever they want. Just seems like there's no sense of fire or urgency in the Chicago White Sox. It makes you wonder if they even read a scouting report?" DAN GLADDEN
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Wait, WTF...we moved Rios up to 5th in the order? Light the Fire!!! Rios isn't hot enough to start a gas station on fire even if you gave him a flamethrower and bazooka.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) 31 minutes in, and not one "fire" comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fire DON COOPER and JUAN NIEVES. Threatening 7-14 in the AL Central. Even the putrid Royals are 11-17.
  18. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Two real good pegs down to 2nd base by AJ this inning. Nice to see! Meanwhile, we've met the outer limits of our offensive capabilities against Pavano. 3 runs might as well be 6 the way we're going offensively.
  19. Wow, 9 for 70 now AJ. Actually, it should have been 10 for 70 and a 2 run game. Measly 14.3% chance of getting caught stealing against AJ.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) My son just changed the channel on the TV for the first time in his life. 11 months old, and he already knows the history of the Sox/Twins I guess. However, he changed it to the Home Shopping Network...oh boy Transformers toys would be more entertaining than Hawk Harrelson praising Carlos Gomez, Mauer and Brad Radke ad infinitum.
  21. Why do we even bother pretending that anyone on our team even believes that they can beat the Twins??????????????
  22. Second verse, same as the first. Nishioka was actually hot coming into that AB, but it figures Humber would implode against Minny. 8-69 now for AJ. They exploit all of our weaknesses. Nishioka might have been out if Beckham handled it cleanly.
  23. Sure nice to have a young 3B with XB pop. Sorry, Brent. Another productive out, always the same fundamentally-perfect baseball against the White Sox.
