2025 MLB Draft
However, Witherspoon has shown some drastic issues with command, particularly during the 2024 NCAA season. When he misses the zone, he’s capable of missing by a lot, which makes it significantly harder for him to get batters to chase. Additionally, he often misses high, which can get him into some trouble. With this being said, the right-hander still had a very strong season at Oklahoma, cementing himself in their rotation with a 3.71 ERA, 10.1 K/9, and 4.5 BB/9. He was even better in limited action on the Cape, showing improved command and control with 10 strikeouts, zero walks, and just one earned run over nine innings of work. Pitch-wise, the fastball is Witherspoon’s best offering because of its swing-and-miss potential, with the slider (which occasionally morphs into a cutter) not far behind for the same reason. His changeup still needs more development as it lacks effectiveness and he struggles to locate it, making it a subpar tertiary offering. However, if Witherspoon can develop his changeup into a strong third offering and carry his improved command from the Cape into the 2025 NCAA season, he could be one of the top college arms in the draft and a solid late first-rounder. Looks like Witherspoon has really shot up the charts from where he was just a year ago... https://primetimesportstalk.com/2025-mlb-draft-scouting-report-kyson-witherspoon/ With a quick short arm back, he does hide the ball really well and all his offerings come out of the same slot, but there is some real controlled violence in his delivery that does lead to plenty of reliever risk concerns. He offers a free pass every other inning, so not massive control concerns, and the command is solid too (that sentence doesn't make a lot of sense), it is more a question of whether or not the delivery will hold up numerous times through a lineup and handling a full workload at the professional level. This is one of those arms that has almost limitless upside, but plenty of risk at the same time. https://threequarterslot.com/2024/12/08/2025-mlb-draft-kyson-witherspoon-rhp-oklahoma/

And that's a no doubt upsetting to some bettors WHITE SOX 1-0 WINNER
Housers...unless he's already being called Doogie by everyone. Maybe having a doctor would help the organization more with all the various injuries.

Omar Narvaez released
Travel costs...that's why you also have a lot of 4-5 game series, instead of 2 and usually 3 games at a time.

5/21 Games
C.Montgomery no strikeouts but no hits either so far. Zavala almost up to a 700 OPS....Jeral Perez just north of 800, playing 2B tonight (yet another 2B/3B but not a SS, unfortunately) Braden up to 15 RBI's with W-S, .310 / .989 OPS Dash leading 10-8 in the bottom of the 7th inning.

The only one who really stood out in the second half was Burke with his last three starts at the very end. And at least we haven't gone to Jesse Scholtens YET this season.

2025 MiLB Catch All thread
White Sox: Christian Oppor, LHP (No. 18) Extremely raw when the White Sox selected him in 2023's fifth round out of Gulf Coast State (Fla.) JC, Oppor has impressed with his arsenal and improved polish while putting together a 3.46 ERA, .180 average-against and 37 strikeouts in 26 innings between two Class A levels. He's working at 93-95 mph and touching 98 with his fastball while also missing bats with a sweeping 78-82 mph slider and tumbling upper-70s change up. mlb.com

Two games behind Balt after today... Let's hope the 2025 team doesn't copy those 14 consecutive losses from last year at this time.

Bullpen up to their normal tricks again. Shane Smith still hasn't given up more than 3 earned runs in a game. Palacios matching his career ops line now.

The Sox next shelter rescue?
Or the next shelter rescue is Arizona/ACL ball...first Colson for almost ten days, now Iriarte and Hagen Smith are being "saved." Wolkow next? Clevinger?

5/20 Games
If they're holding Teel back for 2026, just no way in hell they skip Braden over AAA...

That sounds like half the line-up...starting with Vaughn/Robert. Slider/sweeper/sleeper, whatever, low and away is the death zone.

Too bad unlikely to get Vargas VS. Vargas match-up...unless the Sox pick up the offensive pace, but then he'd be out of the game by then anyway.

Two more innings to match exactly match the 15-34 record of last year's team. Ofc, they went on to famously lose 14 consecutive games, before later eclipsing that with another abysmal streak of 21.

Arozarena used to be REALLY dangerous with TB but a 772 ops in SEA isn't half bad.

So we essentially have Eisert, Booser and Leasure as the back-end right now....with Vasil over Castro now for 4/5 in the pen. Totally forgot about S.Wilson...so Eisert/Booser/Vasil/Leasure/S.Wilson B. Wilson/Shuster/Castro the back end

Quero pretty quietly all the way down to a 659 OPS. Robert/Vaughn Circus continues...at least Luis hit a ball hard, so there's that I guess.

So much for Vargas "excellent defense"....have to push it down to "above average/good/very good" with 7 errors now. That's quite a bit at 3B compared to SS/2B.

Guess the Rangers have an abundance of pitching if they can't use either Houser or Dane Dunning...a bit ironic, he would be facing the Charlotte Knights right now if not for this last minute signing.
