Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
But Fletcher was Barfield's fault and not trading intradivisionally with Fedde should be blamed on JR/"tradition".

Five out of the last six Super Bowls now. Only Burrow and Chase broke the streak.

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap
3. The Orioles will regret not acquiring more starting pitching. One thing the O’s haven’t been able to get right since becoming an AL contender has been the starting pitching. Granted, several of their starters have sustained injuries over the past three seasons, but you’d think that would only motivate them to be more aggressive in the starting pitching market. https://sports.yahoo.com/5-predictions-for-the-2025-mlb-season-the-yankees-will-be-better-than-the-mets-the-as-will-make-the-playoffs-and-more-210318360.html

Ryan Pressly to Cubs
Astros now have Hader, Abreu, Tayler Scott, who posted a 4.94 ERA in 68 2/3 innings before ending the season on the injured list, and Rafael Montero, who was designated for assignment last year and is a non-roster invite this spring, are the next most experienced arms in the bullpen. The club also returns relievers Shawn Dubin (45 1/3 innings), Bryan King (26 1/3 innings), Kaleb Ort (24 2/3 innings) and Forrest Whitley, who was at Triple-A most of last season. mlb.com

Turnover keeping the Bills in this one. Buffalo hardly stopping KC on defense...injuries not helping, either.

Ryan Pressly to Cubs
Frees up cash for Bregman, then Altuve moving to LF. Cubs should have just signed Carlos Estevez...or even Robertson.

He also lost two of his three best pass receivers to injury. It's not like they didn't acquit themselves fairly well in the playoffs.

Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
No team in MLB history had ever given up with that much season left to play and trailing by less than five games...JR loves making history, after all. He gave Albert Belle the biggest contract in baseball...to prove a point to other owners. Fortunately for him he got nailed out of that one by Baltimore. Let's be honest. He just didn't want to pay Alvarez and Hernandez any longer because he thought they were underperforming.

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
Well obviously Clevinger, Thorpe and now Perez. Just a joke about how SD guys struggle with the Sox (Hill for example) but excel when going the other direction (Cease), or to another team. Marinara Sauce might very well be the next find.

White Sox sign LHP Martin Pérez
They have now officially announced and put him on the roster? No press conference for the biggest signing of the off season?

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
I feel like I've heard this for about half my lifetime as a fan. There's depth, and then there's quality depth. There is a discernible difference. Get past Cannon, Martin, Wilson, Burke and Perez (who probably needs a playoff race for motivation)...who's the next best option? Maybe Iriarte, Shuster or Nastrini? None of those names above provides a Top 1-2-3 in a rotation profile...other than maybe Burke or Iriarte stuff-wise. Prelander Berroa would be a huge stretch to push into the rotation...but at least there's upside/potential. Remember, we can't count on Schultz or Smith for next season, period. Nor Grant Taylor.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
“It's all about what the boys do out on the field, and when you pour into them every single day and allow them to go be themselves, this is a byproduct of that,” Vogt said. “None of us in this room that work in baseball would have a job if it wasn't for the players -- it is about them, it will never not be about them.” Stephen Vogt upon winning AL Manager of the Year at BBWAA awards. source: mlb.com

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
Is that worse than another season of Clevinger...Perez and Scholtens maybe Iriarte are the best options for #5 if Thorpe can't go to start the season. Burke has had less than a handful of starts as well.

Soxfest back for 2025
"But putting up a statue of Buehrle is a reminder of how thin the White Sox pantheon is. Frank Thomas is our Ruth, Mantle, and Mays. Mark is our Seaver, Koufax, and (yes) Maddux. The tenth highest career bOWAR in Yankees history is Aaron Judge, at 52.2 and counting. OK, we’re obviously not the Yankees. For Cleveland, it’s Joe Jackson at 35.0. Kenny Lofton is in ninth at 38.8. For the White Sox, only five players have a career bOWAR of over 35 (four are higher than Lofton’s) and Frank Thomas is the only one most of us ever saw play. And tenth on our career bOWAR list is the immortal Ray Durham at 28.2. Maybe the next 124 years will be better." soxmachine.com fan comments Appling, Thomas, Collins, Fox, Minoso, Ventura, Aparicio, Doc White, Schalk, George Davis, Fielder Jones???? Only Schalk is known by SOME old timers. Then you have Jose Abreu, Konerko, Fisk and Shoeless Joe Jackson.

The only time it was close was 2005...and JR's relationship was more with Konerko Buehrle, maybe even Ozzie, compared to the fans themselves.

Soxfest back for 2025
Starting to feel like China...you only have one choice of official news, which is always the most positive, rosy view of the White Sox. This is exactly the reason Ricketts isn't under any real pressure to win on the Northside. How many times have fans been fooled? Well there's White Flag, preceded by the 1994 strike year where ownership interests were put in front of fans...the 2005 team not being followed up successfully. 2013-2019 years in the wilderness. Covid year, nobody could actually enjoy in person. Worst season in pro baseball history. Yet another these kids can play. It's almost as bad as the Guardians going back to the early 90s...except they're actually successful at starting over again and again. Twins, threatened with constraction by the commissioner, more successful. Tigers as well. Royals with two consecutive WS appearances and then a 10 fWAR superstar. A new stadium seemingly an impossibility...but just suck it up and deal with it.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
https://global.espn.com/football/story/_/id/43569827/man-united-old-trafford-regeneration-project-government-support Yes the White Sox are pretty much the antithesis of Man United...even the version nearer to relegation than the top of the EPL standings.

Sure, but you spend legit money on someone like Chapman and you can end up with Cole Ragans...who has been even more impactful than even Crochet on AL Central fortunes.
