  1. Weird how the White Sox don't get blamed for not spending...it's just that they are basically incompetent lol. What are the Rays supposed to do differently? I can see the Reds Pirates A's Marking taking the hits here, but the Rays, especially that they're consigned to playing in a 12.500 seat minor league facility due to hurricane roof damage?
  2. I guess...but it's not unlike the Cubs' situation with Tucker. If he leaves the Cubs in free agency and Guerrero, Jr./Bichette both leave Toronto, they're just stuck with bad contracts for Gimenez Straw Santander.
  3. Based on Sox history, it will probably be Bryse Wilson.
  4. That's not exactly reassuring, you must surely be aware of...???
  5. When the Sox start to concern themselves about being in the entertainment business...so probably 2027 at the rate they're currently plodding along at. Because you simply can't expect rookie pitcher not named Skenes Strasburg or Sasaki to lead a rotation in 2026. In Getz's idea...it would be unfair to do any evaluation of his GM tense until we are a full four years in.
  6. Whoever gets displaced at 3B for Alex Bregman signing...Colson Montgomery lol. Maybe worry about SS and CF first?
  7. https://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2025/1/20/24347931/report-jays-sign-anthony-santander Jays' fans are not happy at all about this one. Consolation prize. Went from 3/$82 to 5/$92...their own version of Benintendi. Can't understand Straw (seriously jumping the gun) and why they essentially snapped out the much cheaper Horwitz for the MUCH more expensive Gimenez. Everyone in baseball expects these last three years on the deal to be pretty miserable. No hindsight needed or required.
  8. He's virtually unplayable. https://www.newsweek.com/sports/mlb/could-dodgers-enter-potential-427-million-vladimir-guerrero-jr-sweepstakes-2007984 Will the Dodgers enter $427 million Guerrero Jr. or the lesser Bichette sweepstakes???
  9. Why, Santander is a corner outfielder and eventually 1B/DH? They still want Alonso and they only have Guerrero Jr. until the end of 2025, for example. Spring er isn't even a true CFer anymore...but they do have Varsho and are unlikely to over value Robert at this point.
  10. https://www.truebluela.com/2025/1/20/24347575/dodgers-tanner-scott-signing-reactions Cubs lose out to Dodgers by $6 million on Tanner Scott...were willing to bet $66 million.
  11. https://www.foundersspace.com/legal-ip/can-i-post-aricles-i-find-on-the-web-on-my-website-without-breaking-copyright-laws/ But isn't mlbtraderumors technically always in violation of that same concept by definition...they're not using a short blurb, they're actually showing full paragraphs of a story? Or do they actually have legal permission obtained?
  12. How is that close to an entire story when it's 2/30ths of a story that was originally on ESPN Insider and then was dropped to free after a time embargo expired?
  13. https://soxmachine.com/2025/01/talking-2025-plans-for-white-sox-prospect-arms-with-pitching-coordinator-matt-zaleski/ Looks like they want Smith/Schultz to both pitch 110 minor league innings this year, then ramp up to 140-160 in 2026 (both hitting majors at some point) ...
  14. Garrett Crochet, LHP, Boston Red Sox Trade: Acquired from White Sox for Kyle Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, Wikelman Gonzalez Crochet was the hottest name on the winter trade market, as an ace-adjacent pitcher -- if not an ace -- on a way-below-market contract for the next two seasons, which is also the window to either lock him into an extension before he hits free agency or grab a compensatory pick when he does. Boston put together a strong package that fits what the White Sox needed, but I don't think it includes a future star. Boston's scouting/development success the past few years allowed it to make a deal like this without trading one of its best prospects. Given how the Red Sox seem focused on building their roster, controllable solid players are needed for putting together a sustainable contender, with stars being the key variables, and Crochet is one. https://global.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/43209499/mlb-offseason-2024-2025-best-worst-moves-trades-free-agency-walker-buehler-gleyber-torres
  15. Also, Passan came down VERY hard on the Mariners, Blue Jays, Orioles and Braves… https://global.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/43261112/teams-winning-mlb-offseason-need-move-dodgers-yankees-mets-braves
  16. 1. Los Angeles Dodgers (215.1° With their 2024 World Series win, the Dodgers regain their status as baseball's hottest franchise https://global.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/43225363/mlb-offseason-2024-2025-ranking-starting-pitching-rotations-right-now
  17. https://www.mlb.com/news/2024-2025-mlb-free-agents-best-fits-for-top-unsigned-players Two (ex SD) players predicted to the NL West, one back to the Padres...will the Dodgers sign them, too? Bregman to Tigers or Jays? Carlos Estevez to Cubs?
  18. Once again...that's counting Ohtani at around $2 million (or adjusted backwards???), still have Enrique Kiki Hernandez and Clayton Kershaw to fit onto the roster. "In 2025, Ohtani will earn a base salary of $2,000,000, while carrying a total salary of $70,000,000. Ohtani's adjusted salary with the Los Angeles Dodgers is $2,000,000 Source: MLB contract specifics generally collected from verified reports." 30% After Tommy Edman's extension, the Dodgers owe $989 million in deferred money on their current contracts. Five contracts on the Dodgers' payroll include deferred money, and more than 30% of each deal is deferred. Ohtani's deal is unique, however.
  19. See 1997 vs. 2003 Marlins. This Sasaki thing was close to The Decision II.
  20. Even the A's are spending to qualify for their revenue sharing subsidy of $70 million...
  21. He also got benched by Ozzie for not hustling. Moncada-esque emotionally.
  22. 7 years and $69 million seems so quaint right now...the original Blue Jays extension. Of course, Rios didn't exactly help them win anything...the Javy Vazquez of position players.
  23. Sure but that hasn't carried over to anything related to the White Sox other than a set of empty parking lots.
  24. Gifted in the sense we couldn't normally afford him...Yankees also sent money along with. Trade literally went through the fax machine at 3:59 EST, beating the deadline by all of one minute. 15+ fWAR pitcher over six seasons, include two AL Pitcher of the month awards in late 2005 and April 2006. https://www.pinstripealley.com/2024/1/29/24053877/yankees-trade-partner-history-chicago-white-sox-eddie-lopat-todd-frazier-david-robertson-cashman
  25. Kellen Moore to the Cowboys?...or does he pull a Jerry Jones and get someone like Lincoln Riley or another candidate from completely out of left field? We know it won't be Deion.
