Even Ozzie and Joey Cora's "Camp Cora" outside the standard practice times stuff probably wouldn't work in this day and age. Let's be honest, most of the really top minor league hitters don't focus much on advancing runners and bunting, it's just the way it is. Now defensive fundamentals are a totally different story, no excuses there IMO.

Have been saying for 2-3 weeks now that Chase Meidroth hadn't shown anything in ST to force the issue. Venable was complimentary about his SS defense, but he just didn't show any life with the bat at all....I mean, Michael A. Taylor of all people was outhitting him. And Baldwin's service time clock has already been started. And, we know that Amaya has limited upside as a defense-first, weak bat guy. Go with the potential...

Haniger's definitely better than Michael A. Taylor...but it all depends on when you're trading Robert and how important CF defense is going to be after that trade, versus having any semblance of an offense.

Eberly is terrible. Sox can still lose it... bases loaded. Aldrete almost drove it out of the park but it finally came down to Julks at the wall.

Ellard pulled. Palisch.

Ellard and Murfee struggled in this one.

Meidroth hasn't won it. Neither has Amaya. Just go with Baldwin...we already started his clock prematurely last year. Or Maton.

Burger had to force the White Sox to let him play in independent ball in St Louis against college and high school players. Getz had nothing to do with him...he was basically written off for dead by the organization. His wife honestly deserves more of the credit for not letting him quit in frustration.

Sure, the 2019 AL Executive of the Year had to get some things right after Tatis and Semien/Bassitt. How many times did he refer to that award as a defense? When everybody supposedly wanted Hahn...he was basically a contract negotiator.

There isn't. Although the last decade of Sox fandom was basically a whack a mole game of crediting Hahn and blaming KW until it was no longer feasible. 85% of this is on Reinsdorf. Unfortunately, he's not exactly going to be held accountable.

By the time Getz came on board...most of that core other than maybe Crochet was already in place. Vaughn and Madrigal have been failures. Burger developed almost completely on his own...through sheer will power and perseverance.

Drury, as a veteran with a non-roster invite, has had an impressive camp, and Baldwin can play almost anywhere on the field. Sosa has hit the ball well during camp and is out of options. Bullpen (8): Justin Anderson, Mike Clevinger, Cam Booser (L), Gus Varland/Vasil, Penn Murfee, Fraser Ellard (L), Wilson, Tyler Gilbert (L) Others: Jordan Leasure, James Karinchak, Steven Wilson, Brandon Eisert Clevinger, a non-roster invite, has hit all the Spring Training marks in pushing toward his first career opportunity as a closer, although Venable doesn’t seem inclined to name a set candidate for that role.
