  1. At least Lee Sheets and Lopez talked to the media. Didn't like how confident Sheets seemed about being around yet another year.
  2. Must want to help get himself and Crochet traded as a package.
  3. Burger has settled in as something probably closing in on better than average value for his slot in the first round...although he did that almost in spite of the Sox and not because of them. If you look at one of those Vaughn/Madrigal drafts though...pretty sure Nick who was the selection right after, it's amazing how the Philly got the best out of Bohm when his career started out so slowly at the big league level. Or just how everyone fell asleep on a little Oregon State LF who has almost had the impact of Rutschman in two of the last three years from way back in the draft.
  4. Baldwin is a perfect example this year of some rushed because the performance in the middle infield was so poor...especially after DeJong trade. Then he ends up getting hurt to top it all off.
  5. Oh right, got the limo name wrong. Oh well.
  6. They started 3-22. They have an 0-101 record when trailing after eight innings and haven’t won a game this season when trailing after six. Their .279 on-base percentage and .618 OPS easily are the worst in Major League Baseball. For starters, this has been a cohesive unit from Day 1 of Spring Training. It hasn’t changed during the litany of down times, and the work ethic hasn’t changed either. “This is a room full of great, hard-working, determined guys,” catcher Korey Lee said. “Every day you come in here, you see guys working out, you see guys going in the cage, you see guys talking. You see our pitching staff working hard. You see our entire background staff working hard. “A lot of people see what goes on under the lights, but not a lot see what’s going on here at noon, 1 or 2 o’clock, just hours before the game. Everyone is working. Everyone has a purpose. Everyone has a plan. That’s what is the beauty of this game, is coming in here and working every single day to get better.” The White Sox have a Major League-worst 35 blown saves, lost 55 games after leading and dropped 22 when leading after the sixth, where they have been outscored 354-197 from that frame to the close. “Just seeing losses every day, that affects you. If you are playing this game for the right reasons, it’s always going to affect you,” Lee said. “Play the game to win, don’t play to lose, and obviously that’s going to be on our record for years to come. But it’s just about how you react, how you carry yourself, how you go into the offseason, how you come into next season. “I have no doubt the people in this locker room are going to be affected by it. But I think it’s going to be affecting them in a good way. Give us determination this offseason to do what we need to do and come into spring and obviously figure everything out and do stuff for a reason.” Scott Merkin mlb.com https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-tie-american-league-record-for-losses-in-a-single-season-with-119
  7. “Obviously, it’s not a record you want to have, but at the end of the year, 120 or 123, it doesn’t make the season any better,” first baseman/designated hitter Gavin Sheets said. “It doesn’t mean all this was a success because we didn’t break the record. It was still a terrible season. At the end of the day, we need to get better going into next year. Hopefully, we grow from this season and we can take a big step forward.” “We can’t look at it,” veteran infielder Nicky Lopez said. “We’ve got to just keep plugging forward: If we lose today’s game, it’s how can we win tomorrow’s game. But as far as affecting me, it obviously sucks. I’m going to be, we are all going to be attached to it. But also, we are going to move on and whether I’m here next year or somewhere else, it quickly turns to that.” mlb.com
  8. The White Sox (36-119) matched the AL mark set by the 2003 Detroit Tigers, who finished 43-119. One more defeat for Chicago over its final seven games would equal the post-1900 record of 120 losses by the 1962 expansion New York Mets, and two more would set a record. The 1899 Cleveland Spiders hold the overall major league record for losses at 20-134. Chris Flexen (2-15) remained winless in his past 23 starts for a White Sox club that lost its 20th straight road series. According to ESPN Research, Chicago, which is now 9-48 since the All-Star break, is on pace for 124 losses. "They've been playing some good baseball these last couple of days," Bogaerts said of Chicago. "Obviously, we want to win every game by a big margin, but these guys are putting up a fight. They're trying to be spoilers. Nothing's been given easy to us these last couple of days. It's been nice to be able to fight for it a little bit more than people would have expected." espn.com
  9. Bertucci Brothers, yes. George from Midwest Limos/bright yellow M&M“s jacket guy. Alex and Ursula Snelius Nancy Faust Bob Rosenberg official scorer
  10. Grievance filed already over roughly $30,000. Win or lose, Abrams will probably have to be traded now.
  11. Perez 1.3 fWAR (w/ SD) 2.72 ERA Any team in baseball basically could have acquired him for almost nothing.
  12. 2/3 Reinsdorf...1/3 Getz decisions.
  13. Orioles outchoke Tigers...all three Central teams within a game of each other.
  14. Based on his 2024 contract, no way. They will probably try to cut it down 20% but that's 50/50 at best. Depends also on Thorpe's health.
  15. Lynn as well…and, once upon a time, the Cuban Connection convinced Robert to sign with the Sox over StL.
  16. Except odds are he's not even on the team coming into ST.
  17. Sox don't even have me.
  18. Being the best hitter on the team after the Sox almost destroying his career early on is something. We will find out when he plays for a real team what kind of hitter he actually is.
  19. By that definition....the only teams worth discussing are Milwaukee, Orioles and the Cleveland Guardians, maybe the Royals this season to an extent. TB as well, obviously not in 2024. Because there's no point in comparing anyone to LA, and the industry standard after all this time has to be the Houston Astros. It's still pretty remarkable for a Bottom 3 market in all of baseball to be where they are at...and even KC is more or less just 2000+ fans per game higher than the Sox in attendance. They just can't compare with the Chiefs dynasty in that city. If you went back to the mid 2010's...only the three teams I have already mentioned and the Padres have moved from low mid tier to Top 8-12 in the majors. Houston was already a major market. And Preller would have been fired for missing the WC. They don't have a reliable closer at this point in the season, and that will come back to haunt them eventually.
  20. https://www.mlb.com/player/ian-hamilton-641656 Hamilton Kahnle and Fulmer with longer careers than expected.
  21. Three playoff series wins and having the third best rotation entering this post season isn't bad at all...a good number of people are more confident in SD than the Dodgers. Last time I checked the White Sox did a terrible job allocating that type of payroll. Nearly every move Preller made like Cease Profar Solano Estrada for much less than Getz spent has worked out. The Soto trade saved the rotation with Danish and Musgrove out. And they still managed to hold onto top two prospects.
