Sox @ Rays 5-7, 5:50PM CDT
We could have had Rosario and Profar up the middle for the same price...and actually gotten a bit of entertainment and fun.

Would have been much better just to eat his contract. Like Kimbrel's QO to Pollock to Benintendi. One mistake compounds upon another. Just cut the cord.

The most impressive aspect was by and large maintaining his composure better than his father and staff when the entire season was pretty much improving after the hot start. Hunter getting hurt in the CSU game really stopped their forward momentum.

2023-24 NFL Season Thread
I watched his first 4-5 games last year. Can't say really what he is with all the offensive line issues and chaos last season. I would have guessed mid to late first round. He's not nearly as explosive in the open field as a runner compared to Williams or Daniels, for example. Heck he'd be behind all the first rounders this year with the possible exception of Penix Jr. in that category.

Dylan Cease says last year with White Sox 'wasn't enjoyable in really any way'
It was the year of taking incoming shots organizationally...pretty much from all directions. More ex and current players sniping than any year but Drake/Eaton/Sale/LaRoche Gate. Solid deadline for once...almost shocking dismissals of the two headed GM but then Sox were somehow left stuck with JR, Grifol and Getz still, so hard to see that as a net positive even.

The Dodgers battle you every single at bat, up and down the lineup...all game long. They just wear teams down until one of their relievers eventually cracks. Three MVP candidates and Smith isn't far behind. But even the complementary guys like Pages Outman (last year) Heyward. Lux and Taylor have given you almost nothing and they're still hunting along and obviously getting more and more of their starting pitchers back as well. The single biggest problem is running away from the division too easily and getting caught by a hot team in the first round. Well...that and the bullpen.

Contract extension...centerpiece of the franchise at age 36.

5/7 Games
It would be a blessing at home if Sox viewers could completely miss opposing team's taters disappearing into into the stands. Montgomery looks a lot more aggressive/assertive very recently and has that positive energy around him again.

Dylan Cease says last year with White Sox 'wasn't enjoyable in really any way'
Also, when guys like Lucas Giolito and Casas got hurt for Boston…their new GM just didn’t throw in the towel or give up on the Red Sox 2024 season despite the overall strength of that division. (The funny part was Romy Gonzalez eliminated himself in basically one game.) https://www.yahoo.com/sports/aggressive-red-sox-arent-waiting-151329418.html PS: Please trade Benintendi for Yoshida!!! Change of scenery for both guys. And Sox defense is already abysmal anyway, minus the middle infield.

Dylan Cease says last year with White Sox 'wasn't enjoyable in really any way'
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/dylan-cease-says-last-white-011411123.html With Cease pitching for the Padres, the White Sox dropped 22 of their first 25 games this season. “Baseball's one of those games where anything can happen, and funky things can happen,” Cease said. “For all we know, they'll go on a nice little win streak and kind of even that out. But yeah, it's a little bit surprising.” Cease has made a smooth transition to his new surroundings. He is 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA in seven starts this season. He also has 48 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings, looking more like the pitcher he was two years ago. Cease said his good numbers so far are the result of adjustments he started making last year. “Basically just figuring out how to stay closed,” he said. “I feel like, for me anyways, the most difficult thing for pitching is staying closed because it is such a rotational movement." ….. “I still think that in the minds of a lot of people we had a really good chance to compete,” Cease said. “I think we feel like we had a good chance to compete and we just didn’t put it together. We had a really bad year and it obviously kind of led to the need to kind of redo everything.”

Maybe a cross between him, Pete Incaviglia and Steve Balboni...

Morel Wisdom and Madrigal aren't the answer. Burger .213, Anderson .212, White Sox hitting problems somehow affecting the rest of MLB.

5/6: Sox @ Rays 5:50 CDT: Clevinger day?
At least they didn't guarantee Keith $28.6 million, lol. And we can even extend it lower, Jose Abreu is at .269 and still owed $39 million... With Chourio and Holliday also struggling out of the game, wonder if someone's going to rethink this whole "generational wealth" before ever crossing the lines on a big league field thing. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/what-detroit-tigers-rookie-colt-keith-is-doing-to-snap-out-of-career-opening-slump/ar-AA1o0fOj Maybe the White Sox hitters as a collective also need to block X, Facebook and Instagram, lol...

He's back off the DL tonight against Walker Buehler, returning from almost 2 years on the shelf with TJS. 0/2 so far, .220/680.

Obliques are pretty much the worst injuries a baseball player can ever have...except UCL and maybe deep deep plantar fascia injuries.

5/6: Sox @ Rays 5:50 CDT: Clevinger day?
LF Bad CF Bad RF Bad 3B Below Average SS Average to Slightly Below Average this year 1B Below Average C Terrible with Maldonado, at least average with Lee (granted, he had a mistake tonight) Even WITH Robert and Moncada, they're not currently even an average MLB defense. Btw, .265 .812 Ortiz (MIL)

Well, the Rays were definitely not going to lose their fourth game in a row to the White Sox, at HOME.
-
5/6: Sox @ Rays 5:50 CDT: Clevinger day?
This was always the big concern...if he's not a 3B, he can't hit well enough to justify any other position. Maybe second, but then you have yet another below average fielding and probably hitting infielder.
-
5/6: Sox @ Rays 5:50 CDT: Clevinger day?
Just when you thought Shuster MIGHT end up okay... Well, at least we didn't sign Keith (Tigers) to an early extension before he'd ever played. He's statistically the worst qualified player in baseball as of today.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Sure if you had Lee Ordonez Konerko Valentin Thomas Durham Singleton…best farm system in the entire sport, etc.
