  1. See 2005 White Sox first four months or so until Pods started to slow down...
  2. To distinguish from anyone who deals with minor league prospects...whether as a roving instructor or role like Mike Gellinger used to occupy. He was actually far more accomplished than Getz but had major health issues that blocked his career advance.
  3. Why Zack Remillard has the last roster spot on the 2014-15 Royals...him or Terrence Gore. Christian Colon spot in postseason.
  4. Keuchel Grandal Lynn extension Hendricks Benintendi...where the bulk of the money went, along with extensions for so-called young core.
  5. Let’s not forget they were forecasting Gavin Lux to be a key infield/outfield contributor as well before the ACL. Most likely at SS, though, with Seager gone. Ofc, they never expected to have to rely on Trayce Thompson, Heyward and Mookie Betts as a part-time middle infielder, either. At worst, they had little reason to trade him unless they were blown away since they clearly had to get cheaper and younger at some roster spots.
  6. We will see soon see how talented Getz is as a used car salesman. Hahn had the talk, but we all knew it was total BS and CYA after 2022… And Grifol worse than even Bevington in many respects…credibility already blown if he had any in the first place.
  7. See May/June 2016 arguments for keeping Sale Q Abreu Avisail Frazier Eaton together.
  8. They were in a much better situation roster talent-wise, MiLB ranking-wise and being able to rely on increased revenues guaranteed by a brand-new stadium for at least those first five years and now extended another five years again by a WS victory. If they traded Robert, they would need to find GG level defenders at five positions to replicate Texas…since everyone in baseball also knows Moncada, the other plus defender, will be dumped. Texas had so much leeway they didn’t even really need deGrom to pull it off in the end.
  9. Plus odds of an extension if he maintained 2023 form for FOUR more years are zero…if you just consider how much Bellinger will get after 2023 but also spinning his wheels pretty much for three consecutive seasons until signing with the Cubs. But still has youth and 2019/23 fWAR on his side…Dodgers’ pedigree and playoff heroics as well.
  10. Sounds exactly what Preller needs to do. Dump Soto salary and add Robert’s much more affordable one…since Hader, Snell and likely Lugo all will be gone, too. They have a bottom of Top Ten MiLB system again and the pieces to pull it off, barely. That would be putting his job on the line finally if they missed the playoffs once again in 2024. Just don’t see Getz being willing to take a risk like that right off the bat…he’s going to be risk-averse after watching 2013-2016 White Sox and how long Rick kept the job while just soinning his wheels and getting nowhere.
  11. He simply has to repeat 2023 and first 3/4th’s of 2020…and of course stay out there everyday, or close to it. For just 3-4 more months.
  12. Assuming it's actually reallocated to something positive that benefits the ball club and its future...not just JR's pocketbook and BoD.
  13. $13ish million for two months? Not unlike Clevinger then....that was around $8 million for around 6-8 starts.
  14. The biggest disaster would be getting a bunch of prospects that busted or underperformed ala the Sale trade for the most part....Moncada with two very good seasons and another decent one not close to equaling peak Sale on a quite affordable deal to that time.
  15. Even then you're going to get a Tier C prospect at best with something like $17.5 remaining for three months if you include the 2025 buyout.
  16. Of course the Twins have Dan Hayes now and Sox fittingly lost James Fegan…only reason at all to cover team from a media standpoint is Luis Robert, Jr. and potential Cease trade. Colson Montgomery debut third.
  17. Correa deal killed them. Astros far better off with Pena financially. Heck, Twins had Lewis all along but those two knee injuries temporarily derailed him. Then you’ve got Buxton as well. And had to let Sonny Gray go, who will finish Top 3 in Cy voting. That said, who is threatening their Central spot? Cle and Detroit…but not really. Another team victimized by losing out on their Bally/RSN money. But ownership group far richer than JR.
  18. Except we have one of the worst fields for playing that style….Old Comiskey, sure.
  19. Bellinger feels like at least $125-150 million coming off a 2023 MVP votes type of season and possesses the ability to play two positions (especially CF) so well.
  20. Gorman and Carlson...Walker and Carlson. Both guys make that a hard trade for StL unless something else goes the other way.
  21. Soto is under control for 2024 until projected ARB salary of $35-40 millionish dumped from payroll.
  22. Opposite of Madrigal gap power...doesnt hang up long.
  23. Gorman and Jordan Walker defensively challenged. Sox desperately need pop though. Nootbarr seems like tough trade target with current depth chart. (They can't trade both Gorman and Walker seemingly.) Carlson ideal fourth outfielder and certainly better than Colas. Cease?
