Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
"The team’s two biggest trade chips might be outfielder Luis Robert (owed $12.5 million in 2024 and 2025, with $20 million club options in 2026 and 2027) and flamethrower Michael Kopech ($3 million this year with one year of arbitration-eligibility remaining)." mlb.com Mark Feisand

White Sox acquire Corey Julks from HOU for RHP Luis Rodriguez, option to AAA, recall Dom Fletcher, Ortega DFA'd
We have a troubling trend of adding guys who will age into their 30s before those younger 20ish counterparts can even be dreamed on like Mena or this guy. We already KNOW they are certainly not going to be members of the next White Sox playoff team...so what's the point beyond repairing this year's major league record on the fringes?

Has a Top 30 number near his name of some sort...well, he can't be any worse than Ortega and has more pop I guess.

No way JR will eat that contract before Year 4.

Does this mean the end of Sheets in the OF? Probably not...

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
Still pretty unproven quantity at this point. Wouldn't the Orioles' fans go nuts if they started him as part of their playoff rotation (after Flaherty fiasco last year)...unless there were numerous injuries across that unit? Still needs at least 4-6 more weeks of results before this looks like a realistic scenario. Because then you're also going to have to push more guys like Thorpe or Iriarte up since Nastrini/Cannon both don't look ready yet.

Lol. Burger was way too young compared to some of these guys. Apparently...the goal is for them to gel together and hit the ground running when they are all in Years 30-32. It's ridiculous Ortega even got so much play in the first place. One thing Burger at least had last year was elite EV/bat speed compared to the majority of his teammates.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
The Jacksonville Jaguars' "Stadium of the Future" is a go, as the franchise and city came to an agreement on a $1.4 billion project on Tuesday. The proposal will see each side contribute $625 million to the project and Jacksonville would chip in another $150 million to get EverBank Stadium ready for construction beginning in 2026. The team will also not include any new taxes to pay for the rebuild. Now that the plan was presented to a city council on Tuesday, members are slated to vote on it in June with a majority of 19 members needed to pass. Then, it would advance to the NFL owners meeting in October where they'd need 24 of 32 votes to reach final approval. With construction set to begin after the 2025 season, the Jaguars would play in front of a reduced capacity crowd in 2026 and then host home games in either Gainesville or Orlando in 2027. The updated look of EverBank Stadium was revealed last summer, representing the next step in the team's efforts to transform downtown Jacksonville. The Jaguars plan to make the stadium four times as wide as the current one with interactive social areas and food local to the city. The stadium will include state of the art technology and a shade canopy to reduce heat retention by 70%. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/jaguars-city-of-jacksonville-agree-on-1-4-billion-stadium-of-the-future/

Jake Burger
KW lol? From the Marlins' perspective, they made the playoffs because of Burger and Josh Bell. Let's wait and see if Eder provides anything close to that as a building block...

2025 Old Sock Drawer
You can have Vaughn OR Sheets. I'll take Burger. Final season OPS. Highest number wins.
-
2025 Old Sock Drawer
The Marlins are still better positioned for the future than the White Sox...and that's despite having one of the five worst farm systems in baseball and only the 16th pick in the first round of this June's draft.
-
2025 Old Sock Drawer
And yet they can't even come up with a legitimate1B, even if you give the Sox multiple first and second round attempts at it...well, I guess Vaughn has improved his flexibility almost enough to do the splits, so that has to be worth something or other. In the end, the Marlins are going to be sold off for a new set of position players while they wait for their pitching staff to return to health. Chisholm will get them something legit back. Alcantara, Cabrera and Eury Perez are the keys to anything that franchise is going to do in the future.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
Pretty challenging to come up with many starting rotations better than this current Sox-related one: 1) Cease 2) Sale 3) Lopez 4) Rodon 5) Your choice of Lynn, Dunning, or Montas Chris Bassitt would traditionally have been up there but definitely not THIS season, at least so far.

2025 Old Sock Drawer
Obliques are the very worst possible injury for a hitter. We excused Benintendi's wrist for going on how many seasons now? Not to mention Burger doesn't have nearly the number of plate appearances because he missed so much time already...numbers can change quite quickly, still.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
Not quite as much of a concern not being a high 90s fireballer and not having that long history of MLB innings...but something to definitely consider.

5/12 Games
Berroa got torched in AAA svo. No Montgomery. Nastrini not shockingly with a high ERA.
