  1. Not even sure Getz could/would have won the competition to be named Northwestern baseball coach...
  2. Seems intentional...lol. No Fick?
  3. https://sports.yahoo.com/2-fans-run-onto-coors-field-grab-braves-outfielder-ronald-acuna-jr-033539596.html Imagine if Acuna Jr. hurt his knee again in this scenario...
  4. There was a story out there that specifically stated Hahn didn't want to trade Burger, not just that Ng called "her old buddy" KW and dealt with him directly. And also that they were (Hahn and Haber, one would guess) working on a trade of Anderson to the Marlins simultaneously but then ended up going with the Burger deal instead.
  5. Grayson Rodriguez came into the season as one of the top pitching prospects in the game...so this is NOT unexpected. He's been a bit more inconsistent than predicted, but there have never been questions about his stuff.
  6. Did you ever make it to the Ichiro Suzuki Museum in that area...?
  7. You've never seen him go after the Shawnee Mission School Board, lol. He is meticulously prepared when he needs to be, and passionate. When he was with Yahoo Sports, he was always one of the strongest, most knowledgeable writers. The no $100 million contracts is simply an easy sound bite because it's a very salient point...there wasn't any time for the more subtle discussion of why so many managers/clubhouses failed in the last decade and the critical role of the Cuban players (Moncada, Grandal, Abreu, Robert) in NOT finishing off the rebuild. You could just have easily blamed the lack of Dominican connections going back to Dave Wilder/KW, etc. It's STILL an ongoing weakness. Or the lack of any internal starting pitching development after the Danks/Floyd and subsequent Sale/Q years... We could easily come up with 15-20 different reasons. Balta's attempted it previously I'm sure.
  8. Now the 3rd WC Era when you can have four teams from the same division and the Yankees as a "pitiable" (or maybe it's pitiful) last place team... Or as of today perhaps more likely Mariners/Astros/Rangers or whatever. Of course, all that leads to bitterness/resentment about the 2006 Sox team being pushed out by DET and Minny, but they were dead team walking the second half that year with all the injuries and pitching walls being hit by guys like Contreras, Garcia and Jenks. And how can you forget 2008 already, lol? Hahn's son calling the coin flip and finally (for once) beating the hated Twins in the playoff. Of course, with Quentin out, that team almost had no chance at all going into Tampa that post-season.
  9. Elko sounds too much like Craig Ehlo...well, I guess that's a good thing if you're a Bulls' fan. If he could only be just as productive/underrated (comparatively), as the NBA player was.
  10. Little consolation that we're now supposed to bash KW over this one instead of Hahn...or bash Hahn for being too weak to prevent it.
  11. It doesn't give off the vibe that Hahn was "in the wrong place at the wrong time" kind of vibe...the victim of circumstances at least partially out of his control? He clearly wants to praise Hahn a bit more but is holding back with the truth as he perceives it from behind the scenes.
  12. Witt Jr. will break that so it will only be Oakland (moving, deliberately alienating their existing fanbase) and the Sox...and the royals are going to have that new stand alone stadium and entertainment district.
  13. What rating did you give Barbie & Oppenheimer? Ashoka?
  14. Rays' Lowe clowning the Yankees after brawl Sunday...they can't accuse the White Sox of being a last place team at least. "Yet the Tampa Bay Rays, despite the benches clearing twice in their 7-4 win over the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field, aren’t taking it too personally.
  15. Heck...we don't even know if they would be empowered to pick their own pitching coach or at least push Daryl Boston out.
  16. GM candidacy still alive. As to Greg's point about sporting events and stadiums...you're forgetting the LV concert shooting and how more lives were lost there than all the sporting events combined since then....unless you start counting soccer stampedes. Look at the huge spike in demand for concert tickets across the US as world in general.
  17. https://sports.yahoo.com/angels-gm-says-shohei-ohtani-and-agent-turned-down-mri-weeks-before-torn-ucl-diagnosis-001557166.html
  18. Or name the Colorado scoreboard operator as replacement... What about #24/#52?
  19. I guess he means they're not playing up to the standards of MLB lol...that's certainly true for the Royals and Sox these days. Or even compared to last year when they were at least a .500ish club and were even above in September.
  20. It's just like Colombia...you don't say that name without conjuring up images of Escobar and the cartels and maybe guerrilla fighters in the jungle. Perhaps coffee as well. How many more years will have to pass before the perception changes...that it's actually much safer there now than a number of Central and S.American countries? Tough to win that one with so many movies and tv shows bringing renewed attention. No matter how much they spend on eco-tourism marketing to counter it.
