  1. Erik Hosmer next ex-Royal to influence Sox lol. "He recently interviewed Tommy Pham, his former teammate in San Diego, who’s still unemployed despite hitting 16 homers and driving in 68 runs last season while helping lead the Diamondbacks to the World Series. “How has he not signed at this point of time?" Hosmer says. “You’re talking about a guy who makes an impact, who’s great in the clubhouse, and he’s not getting what he deserves. Why aren’t teams trying to acquire a proven winner like this?" https://sports.yahoo.com/pat-mcafee-show-baseball-former-103821412.html Still getting paid $13 million by the Padres NOT to play.
  2. "That goes for playing banged-up, too. Elly De La Cruz spent extra time in the trainer’s room Sunday, but there was zero thought given to a day off, even with a long trip to Seattle after the game for a series that starts Monday. “To play this game the right way, you cannot be fearful,” manager David Bell said. “You have to prepare and then play all-out. As a matter of fact, I think the harder you play and the more fearless you are, it can actually be healthy. If you’re tentative or protective, it can lead to injuries. Elly plays extremely hard and has a high-revving engine, so there will be some maintenance, but it all starts with him wanting to be on the field every day no matter what it takes.” What a concept. It’s doubtful the Sox can relate. Three-Dot Dash During the weekend, Getz weakly attributed fans’ “frustration” to the team’s “early-season struggles from a win-loss standpoint. www.suntimes.com/sports Greenberg
  3. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/phamth01.shtml .774 ops last season looks like an absolute slugger on this team.
  4. Josh Fields in LF. Teahen in the OF and 2B. Burger at 2B. Avi in CF. Dye in CF/SS. Viciedo basically anywhere. The ghost of Erstad basically anywhere.
  5. Didn't you see the Monster-verse movies? They can send JR to in-between world (between the Earth's surface and core) of the dinosaurs and Godzilla/Kong. When he emerges from underground in 2044, he will still be preserved at the same age as today.
  6. Yet he's still probably the best hitter on the active roster...once that move transpires. His numbers last year were pretty decent. Never going to be much of a defender, but I think they've thrown that out the window now just trying to generate runs in any way possible.
  7. Which one goes? Pham is right-handed and can't play CF...so one would think it's Grossman, not that it even matters in the slightest at this point.
  8. One of the worst teams in baseball deserves both a Goosenberg and a "Hack"enburg. At least we also have "Willits" Tower, although I would guess he's actually short and an Eckstein-like middle infielder. Heisenberg?
  9. Just hard to imagine with how great a season Kim had last year and how much he loves being on the West Coast and hours closer to Korea...Adames just feels much more realistic. Overpay for Kim would be pretty substantial to get him to move to the worst team in baseball after what he experienced the last 2-3 seasons in terms of playoff expectations. He just feeds off the huge fan support there.
  10. Royals' PR campaign was incredibly tone deaf...sound familiar?
  11. Better for golf to have a likeable guy on top with all this LIV crap.
  12. And that was with it already attached to the most successful and most popular NFL franchise in recent memory. Kansas Citizens love their Chiefs...you have to live there to actually understand it.
  13. Assuming from this strategy you're already planning on Montgomery moving over to third? I guess I am not seeing how overpaying for a non-star SS is really going to move the meter...you certainly don't want to pay for past production for players nearing their down sides, yet we are already trying to clear out Robert with with 3 1/2 years remaining on his deal simultaneously.
  14. Not saying I would like it...just that investing time and taxpayer dollars into "saving" this team under thos regime doesn't do much. Remember when MLB threatened to contract the Twins? Look at their record from 2001-2010. They shut up all their critics by putting playoff team after playoff team on the field. JR's response is we will put a team so embarrassing out there that the result will work out in his favor somehow? Out of what...guilt? Pity?
  15. When is the last time Jerry spent significantly higher coming off a last place finish with markedly decreased attendance...let's say down 25-30%???
  16. Foundational for creating a basement/cellar-dwelling team...maybe another owner would hire Getz to unintentionally tank their franchise in the future.
  17. Isn't the biggest con job supporting billionaires in the first place...as either presidential candidates, or, for the most part, as professional sports franchise owners? As far as public financing for stadium goes, you might as well be pushing for subsidies for a Chinese-owned factory in Michigan. It's simply not possible to get it done with all the ill-will in Chicago right now. If anything, the city's "reputation" might be better off with just one flagship team that can leverage 100% of corporate and population resources in order to field something approximating the Midwestern Dodgers.

  19. “Some of these guys are dealing with recurring injuries,” Getz said. “When you have an injury, you are at a higher risk of having a similar injury in the future. And that’s tough for players to accept and understand and organizations as well. It’s our job to prevent something like that from happening. Overall, it’s my job to build an organization that is resilient to injuries. “Every team deals with them, and obviously we were hit with them here recently. But moving forward into the future, you’ve got to build out an organization to be able to take on some of these injuries and build out depth. We’ve certainly begun to do that just so when you are hit with them, you can continue to fight and compete and be as good as you can be.” Losing one of these players would be tough for even the strongest of teams. All three being gone for a lengthy period of time makes life even tougher for an offense limited to one or zero home runs 11 times in 13 games, shut out an MLB-leading four times and sitting at 13-for-86 with runners in scoring position through Friday. …. “He did a really good job this past series in Cleveland,” manager Pedro Grifol said. “He intensified it a little bit, he got up to about 75 percent. We want to get him between 85 and 90 percent and then assess it again and see what we want to do. But he’s getting really close. “Obviously, it’s positive news and we’ll take that,” Getz said. “Those guys are impactful players for our Major League club. It’s better when they are out there than when they are not.” Ugh…Getz is as bad as Grifol. Merkin/mlb.com
  20. But that’s just it. They have kept counting on those three for going on 5-6 years now. Look at the results. They can’t give up on Robert…but they’re only going to get 60-75% of what he once would have been worth. Which simply leads to a permanently rebuilding process like the Pirates or Royals that lasted for decades.
  21. https://fansided.com/2018/04/03/yasmany-tomas-bust-contract-new-team/ Maybe we can bring back your namesake for some excitement. Bauer and Puig could hardly make things any worse. Right now, we're so anonymous the Sox can't even be the Raiders or Washington Commanders/Redskins of ineptitude. Not even sure what dignity is remaining...just past history and a recognizable brand/image.

  23. Hahn and Getz are collectively degrading the value of Michigan degrees and ensuring another Wolverine won't get a GM spot outside of the Southside (if it still exists) in the future.
  24. It's not going to help the pitchers when they go out on the bump thinking they will only get 0-1-2 runs per game...that's going to become very discoraging, regardless of the actual defense played behind them.
