  1. No angry messages to Jeffrey Loria included...as Bobbleheads go, pretty darned good likeness of a moment that hearkens back to much happier and carefree times for the organization (before Mark was prohibited from doing such things due to fear of injury).
  2. Cancún F.C.Edit In May 2021, Luhnow had shown interest in acquiring a Mexican soccer team, during which time he was part of a group that negotiated the purchase of Atlético San Luis,[21] although the purchase agreement did not materialize.[22] Subsequently, in January 2022, Jeff Luhnow headed an investment fund that completed the purchase of the Mexican team Leganés that participates in the Liga de Expansión MX.[23] The purchase was approved by the league owners' meeting on June 1, 2022, making it official.[24] CD LeganésEdit On June 23, 2022 Luhnow bought Leganés of the LaLiga Smartbank through the company Blue Crow Sports.[25][26
  3. Four managers that speak Spanish in a row plus Cairo and Montoya, not to mention Jose Abreu (if you added Espada)...yet nobody can get through to Eloy Grandal Moncada etc. Character and work ethic is just as important as talent.
  4. Where was everyone before it got to this point, though? The combination of Abreu Lynn Middleton opening up to clubhouse issues...embarrassment over Anderson vs. Ramirez, so much bad news came almost simultaneously that it simply overwhelmed the front office...in conjunction with the daily horrendous mistakes on the field and rudderless team lacking in managerial leadership as well. Bevington's name kept coming up even.
  5. The weirdest part of this is that seemingly all the KC Royals/Braves cabal members were theoretically on the side of retaining Burger...since Hostetler absolutely loved him and he's as close with Dayton Moore as Moore is with "Getzie." The fact of the matter is that JR must have believed Tim Anderson was more important to selling 2024 tickets than Jake Burger, and not sure everyone agrees with that one. Or it was just another power trip between KW and Hahn. Then you have the aspect of a pitcher already having been seriously injured. Boyer's take from the sales and marketing side would be intriguing...or Reifert/Merkin. I made a post months ago about who exactly Sox fans would want to watch hit other than Luis Robert, JR. That question still remains unanswered going into the off season. Luis Robert and Dylan Cease remain the only real major League assets. Montgomery doing a Corey Seager impression remains the best hope for the team's future if he can stay healthy.
  6. All that said, at least Reinsdorf was progressive enough in his day to give the likes of Kim Ng (first Asian American female front office exec) and Kenny Williams as well as his son front office/management opportunities. Then you can also go by religious diversity as well if you wanted to do so. Not to mention all the Latin American player ambassadors that have remained on the payroll numerous years.
  7. A Hall of Fame manager at least somewhat close to his prime...
  8. Moore you could understand if it was 2016 or 2017...but not after running a similar rebuild to the one the Sox are facing at present completely into the ground. Well, there's Bobby Witt, Jr. One thing stands out positively.
  9. Was going to say that bringing back Grifol sinks attendance even further for 2024, but nothing short of signing Ohtani or Theo Epstein would turn that steaming locomotive around.

  11. JR, Moore, Pedro, Getzie, Hostetler for life (still room for Buddy Bell, yet another front office person connected to KC)

  13. Eric Neander Rays Brandon Gomes Dodgers Will Rhymes, Director of Player Development, LA Dodgers If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because it is. Rhymes, 39, played for the Tigers from 2010-11. He was drafted by Detroit in the 27th round in 2005. He was the team’s starting second baseman in 2011. In two years with the Tigers, he slashed .283/.341/.370 with a .711 OPS. He played 47 games for Tampa (again?) in 2012, putting up a .584 OPS. He played in the minors for the Washington Nationals in 2013 before calling it a career in 2014. Rhymes previously served as an assistant farm director for Los Angeles before being promoted to director of player development in 2019. The fact that Rhymes played for the Tigers is already intriguing. The Tigers already have several members of their coaching staff, including Hinch, bench coach George Lombard, and third base coach Ramon Santiago, among others, that spent time in Detroit as players. Adding a GM that played for the Tigers would be pretty cool, and that fact the he also comes from the Dodgers is an added bonus. The Dodgers have a loaded farm system pretty much every year. Even better, they have developed a track record of having players develop further after reaching the big leagues. A perfect example of this is Max Muncy. He was a nobody with the Oakland Athletics, then he comes to LA and hits 35 homers with a .973 OPS in 2018, which is before Rhymes was promoted to his current position, but it just goes to show how good the Dodgers are at developing players. He is also known for having one of the best eyes in the league, boasting a career walk rate of 15.1%. Theo Epstein someone from the SF Giants below their top 2 Jeffrey Luhnow Matt Arnold, just started with the Brewers Mike Chernoff/Chris Antonetti, Guardians https://theathletic.com/3507311/2022/08/15/tigers-next-gm-candidates/
  14. Elly De la Cruz HR, 3B six RBIs Back in the NL Central WC race again
  15. Would take a well-motivated Luhnow over just about anyone else. Just don't see it actually happening. https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/blog/2015/06/tony-la-russa-speaks-out-on-cardinals-hacking.html You'd think he would have some interesting opinions...having been right in the middle of it all. "Once you're with an organization for eight or nine years, you feel like you're a part of it forever, and I take a lot of what I learned over there and apply it over here," said Luhnow, who was hired Dec. 7. "Those relationships will be there with those individuals. It was a special time in my life, going through three World Series and winning two of them with the club, and it's something I hope we can replicate over here." The series will also be the first against the Cards for Astros bench coach Joe Pettini, who came to Houston after longtime manager Tony La Russa retired last fall. Luhnow was the Cardinals' director of player procurement when the Astros tabbed him to be their 12th general manager. He began working for the club in 2003, and he helped them acquire several impact players that played a part in St. Louis winning the World Series in 2011, including Jaime Garcia, Allen Craig, John Jay and Daniel Descalso. One of the key philosophies Luhnow brought to Houston from St. Louis was an emphasis on data-based analysis and the use of technology in scouting and player evaluation. One of his first hires was director of decision sciences Sig Mejdal, who handled analytics for the Cards from 2005-11. In eight years with the organization, Luhnow won eight rings -- five Minor League championships, an NL championship ring and two World Series rings. In fact, Luhnow said he will receive one of the two 2011 Minor League championship rings this weekend, but he'll have to wait until next month to receive the World Series ring. "A lot of players from that team, I was involved in helping them get drafted or develop or in the trades that brought them over, so I have a connection to them," he said. "The team is obviously doing well. Our goal is to beat them once the games start. It's going to be fun to see all those guys at Minute Maid Park and say hello to all of them, and it's going to be a big test for our club to see where we are and play a team as good as the Cardinals are right now." https://www.mlb.com/news/jeff-luhnow-looking-forward-to-reunion-with-st-louis-cardinals/c-30318992
  16. Getz actually did win a championship ring with the 2015 Royals. Of course, that was his very first year with the organization, so hard to imagine he was all that influential in bringing that championship culture about, especially as they came so close in 2014 against Madison Bumgarner that it came down to the final inning of the final game.
  17. Mike Ford must be related to Lew Ford of Piranhas fame.
  18. Colas 582 Anderson 573 Brian Anderson-esque
  19. Colas Thompson Perez will save the day. Benintendi Grandal Moncada bench
  20. They're going to sign Josh Hader and then he will blow up in similarly spectacular fashion.
