  1. 1.182, to be exact. I think Maton started around 700ish and has had a crazy jump from this game. (No wonder SportsGuy/RolleTide are always hyping O's prospects, they're so overinflated from facing Charlotte on the road every year, lol.)
  2. At least both Sox and Charlotte can continue to sport matching 1-7 records after today!
  3. Has a feel of the last day of the season with everyone having separate planes to catch back home. Last hope left is for Crochet to make it to the ASB with left shoulder still attached.

  5. Plus Palka was a lot of fun while his moment in the sun ever so briefly shined bright.
  6. 8/9 Norfolk hitters over 1.064 ops. Worst hitter at 715 would constitute a virtual star for the White Sox.
  7. If they were to have a public referendum on the Sox alone...it would be 80-85% against. Even a new stadium won't fix a terrible ownership group and front office except for generating more revenue the first 3-5 years. But that's not a guaranteed long term fix, either.
  8. America's Feeder Team...and, if you can afford the seats, you too can feed on a delicious Campfire Shake.
  9. Or a seat at the table even.
  10. "The Chicago White Sox, already one of the worst teams in baseball, are dealing with the possibility of an extended absence for superstar outfielder Luis Robert Jr." As if we needed another reminder, thanks SI/ChatGPT.
  11. https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39882596/top-recruit-sarah-strong-commits-uconn And now UConn just signed the #1 player in the country for 2024-25. Meanwhile, Iowa has a Top Ten player nationally at Davenport North (the next year's class) who will likely end up chasing bigger money at South Carolina or LSU (see Proctor, Kadyn TWICE). But is what it is. Just like the football team...Iowa will typically rely on developing Top #40-120 players. Something like this current title chase in women's bb is unlikely to ever repeat again in my lifetime. Certainly never again in football or men's bb. So, at any rate, it was definitely a lot of fun while it lasted and a memory that won't soon be forgotten.
  12. Going to be Norm Cash at the rate Getz is currently going, making it both an old AND increasingly bad roster.
  13. Hannah Stuelke...she's a gifted track and field athlete and has beaten every single opponent down the floor in transition this year. Very smooth, but lacks the turnaround/fade away and 10-15 feet jump shooting skills still. She just attacks the basket and gets out in front on nearly every break. With Clark, there was another pretty clear push off against their PG who had four fools in the middle of the lane that wasn't called. That said...every single one of those UConn players was a Top 20-25 rated player nationally coming out of high school. Hannah was in the 40s. That's #2 on the roster. Kate Martin is their third most important player and won't even sniff the WNBA. Finally, Gabby Marshall is one of the best defenders in the conference and always takes the best opponents even at 5'9" to let Clark conserve her energy for offense.
  14. Well, Iowa's 3 turnovers down the stretch almost led to blowing a 9 point (a Gabby Marshall toe on the line way from a 10 point advantage) lead...I can't imagine how upset with the refs Iowa fans would have been if the situation was reversed and Clark wasn't able to get a last shot off. Marshall did a good job of "selling" the impact from Edwards, and you can argue that Bueckers was covered well on the sidelines anyway, but she always could have gotten fouled or even hit the shot with her ability. Bueckers had badly missed another three in the closing minutes before that play...IMO Edwards was having her way with Iowa in the paint for much of the second half, the play should have been to get it into her for a 2 pointer or a foul with only a 1 point deficit. Really felt a bit like the refs might have wanted Iowa in the title game against South Carolina. Gamecocks had already handily beaten UConn when they were in disarray earlier in the season. The point spread was 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 points (favoring Iowa), so that final missed free throw from Clark wiped out a TON of pro-Iowa bets, and that's obviously where the majority of action was on the betting markets. Hopefully the final on Sunday is at least a close game and not the blowouts like last year (thanks refs again!) and the S.Carolina/NC State blowout on Saturday night.
  15. Next we'll have a lecture about how many thread posts went into the Micker Adolfo "near-catastrophic loss" last year...at least that dystopian future of him as a superstar in RF never came into being.
  16. Would love to see what Ayn Rand and Alan Greenspan could do with this team. Couldn't be any worse to turn it over to a venture capitalist or private equity firm, lol.
  17. Well, this is the same organization that spent months talking about possibly moving Burger to 2nd. Or we simply pick "average to above average" defenders in their decline stages who can't hit a lick. If everyone thinks it's unwatchable right now, just wait until a time when both Robert AND Crochet are out. I even wrote a thread last year about the lack of exciting hitters on the team that would motivate fans to watch/listen or even show up in person. But that's exactly where we ARE right now with Burger traded away and Robert, Jr., seemingly injured YET again. Seriously, we would have a hard time beating Norfolk more than 50% of the time with the 14th largest payroll in baseball. Without Robert/Crochet, it would probably tip to 45/55% or even 40/60% against the Sox and in favor of the Tides/Orioles' prospects. That's borderline unbelievable.
  18. He was mentioned numerous times after Ramos and Sosa and was at one point in the high teens or low twenties as a prospect. We either believe in Getz’s OR outside perceptions that there was strong and steady progress in our second and third tier prospects or we don’t. In the end, it only matters if they make it or not with another organization. The revisionist history always becomes guys like Sosa Colas Rodriguez and Mena were never really legit prospects once they leave the Sox…and we blame Merkin or Boyer for overhyping them when you could only write so many stories about Robert, Hendriks and Burger last year.
  19. Why do we keep jettisoning 20-22 year olds for 26+? Plus, we heard all last year how Burger at 26/27 wasn't going to be on the next White Sox playoff team. Well, who is, exactly?

  21. Just shows how much pressure SD was under to cut salary. They went from Top 3 with the Dodgers and Mets all the way down to #14...right in front of the #15 White Sox.
  22. Body shaming on SoxTalk? Unbelievable.
  23. Sitting Colas for guys like Ortega Grossman Phillips in AAA might be even more ridiculous.
  24. Speas was in Charlotte just two days ago. Wasted a lot of money on those flights.
  25. 10-0 Tides rolling again, still hitting top of the first...
