Hence the near 4 FIP… -
Didn't count 3-4 starting pitchers because in true Sox fashion no way Scholtens will hold up long term.

When Do the Sox Talk About a New Stadium??
caulfield12 replied to jasonxctf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This reminds me of how here in China the government just decided to stop publishing the horrific youth unemployment numbers. Of course, that brought even more attention to the problem...not less. Not really much of a solution. (Ignoring it and one day the problem will go away...unless you're Japan lol.) -
That explains Heyward? If you had Trayce Thompson...it would be 3 homers and 8 RBIs in one single game. More than half a season's worth of production. Pollock makes sense because cheese had the most favorable platoon at bats versus being forced into everyday playing time out of position on a team where he was never comfortable in the clubhouse. Kimbrel has done better with the Phillies fwiw.

How can a reliever with a 6-8 ERA pretty much for the entire season be deemed untouchable...?

Boyer has a lot more say/power/influence than he used to...maybe even more than Hahn, in terms of how "everything" organizationally is run, when you start incorporating marketing/public relations/media presence and perception

Would you really have expected him to get behind another rebuild with half the farm system compared to what they had when it was a legit rebuild in 2017-2019?

And with a budget likely receding to the $160 million mark...and nobody would be all that shocked if it was $140-160 million or even down into the $130's.

Only on the personal/social life side I guess lol.

And Alex Call just recently had a higher fWAR than Vaughn Anderson Abreu...

https://sports.yahoo.com/wander-francos-case-reportedly-being-handled-by-minors-and-gender-violence-unit-in-dominican-republic-002923300.html The allegations against Tampa Bay Rays star Wander Franco will be handled in the Dominican Republic by a division specializing in cases involving minors and gender violence, according to the Associated Press. Ángel Darío Tejeda Fabal, a prosecutor in the Dominican province of Peravia, reportedly said the investigation is open under The National Agency for Boys, Girls, Adolescents and Family and Gender Violence Unit and is in its early stages. Judge Olga Diná Llaverías, a specialist on child abuse cases, will chair the case. From the AP: “This is a very delicate topic because there is a minor involved,” Fabal said. “We are working together (with Judge Llaverías).” Fabal reportedly also said prosecutors are in the process of gathering evidence and testimonies, with a potential update coming next week, and they have had no communication with MLB or U.S. authorities.

8/16 Game Thread: White Sox @ Cubs 7:05CT
caulfield12 replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Just tied Cardinals for first at 21 blown saves. 21 bs / 38 opportunities=45% success rate 2. Chicago White Sox - 20 The White Sox are right behind the category leaders with just one less blown save. The franchise had thirty-seven instances where a pitcher could save the game but could earn it on only seventeen instances. Chicago White Sox player Luis Robert during the 2023 All-Star week( Source : instagram ) Their inability to maintain the lead has been one of the main reasons they are fourth in the Central division of the American League with a record of 38-54. They have conceded the third most home runs in the league and have an ERA of 4.53. Joe Kelly leads the team with six blown saves, the second most in the entire MLB. The relief pitcher is followed by his teammates Reynaldo Lopez and Kendall Graveman, who have five and three, respectively.
