  1. Surprised they are even letting Crochet start in this type of weather but oh well. What's the worst thing that could happen?
  2. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39861427/dodgers-claim-outfielder-taylor-trammell-waivers If they're going to keep chasing after 26 year olds for the outfield...they should be playing this guy rather than messing around with Pillar or Phillips types.
  3. More worried about how guys like him and Jay Cuda will/would possibly survive without the White Sox trainwreck to assess and poke fun at.
  4. Tell me why he is doing it and not someone who actually remains in the dug out every inning like Montoyo, etc.? Or the actual outfield coach and not someone more specialized throughout his career with infield play? Let me guess...Royals' Way is the same method they had relief upon in KC?
  5. At least no Anderson Grandal Eloy to hinder the cause...
  6. But they pretty accurately capture a given moment in time based on up to date results and their proprietary assessment of body of work/rigid statistical analysis...but not necessarily what will happen in the future. A bit like in-game win loss probabilities displayed on the screen.

  8. Well above average for the Sox last year vs. the rest of baseball...and then he's also gone through two major arm injuries as well already. Shelf life on those guys has been pretty limited in terms of starters who throw well into the 90s.
  9. Google Francona Clevinger Covid or Puig Clevinger Bauer together
  10. Maybe was doing a Satchel Paige and simply didn't expect anyone to reach base...why even go out there, just like Paige's fielders knew the ball wouldn't be put in play.

  12. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds A’s at least at 1.5%.
  13. Inventing a new word here in declide...somewhere between decide (on his future) and decline is a pretty spot-on assessment of Eloy's place with the team at this point.
  14. The right combination of obsequiousness and PR speak that could be controlled/managed by the front office...and eventually dumped without any repercussions at some point down the line. They probably didn't realize how unflappably elevated his self-esteem was, though.
  15. Auriemma added that his comments came simply from the fact that he truly believed Bueckers was the best player in the country, ahead of Clark, after coaching her throughout the season. "I think every coach thinks the player that's on their team that's helping them the most is the best player," the 70-year-old continued. "Listen, I've coached the best player in the country a lot more than anybody else coaching in this tournament; it's OK for somebody else to say their player is." Auriemma added that if fans were to compare Bueckers and Clark's statistics and their overall impact on their respective team's success, the former would be considered the better player, regardless of accolades. "If you go by stats, if you go by efficiency, if you go by the entire box score and what she means to our team playing power forward, I think she's done more for our team than anybody else could've done on our team. And I wouldn't trade her for anyone else." The legendary head coach's comments come after he received flak for claiming Bueckers was the overall better player than the Hawkeyes' star following a second-round NCAA Tournament over Syracuse. "We have the best player in America," Auriemma said at the time. "The whole statsheet says that she is." https://www.themirror.com/sport/basketball/geno-auriemma-paige-bueckers-praise-413352 Bulletin board material already provided, as well as the media-approved storyline moving from Bird vs. Magic to Bird vs. Bird (Larry, not Sue, haha). UConn's been pretty salty about being overlooked the last couple of seasons in the face of the South Carolina onslaught, not featured on ABC games (they chose UCLA-LSU over UConn, for example), etc. They obviously have a really strong team but their depth is still suspect after all the injuries. It's going to be fun since both stars feel (rightfully so) they're the best going back to their freshman seasons and recruiting rankings (#1 vs. #4 for Clark) and then UConn knocking Iowa out in the Sweet Sixteen by over 20 points three LONG seasons ago.
  16. In all fairness, there have also been a number of teams who cut players who won arbitration hearings against them as well. Isn't that even more unseemly? But there's never any surprises with the Sox, after they fought with Giolito over $25,000 and poisoned that relationship.
  17. Was waiting for a Fathom comment... Still not going to predict a championship for Iowa when they still would have to get through USC/UConn and then likely South Carolina (yet again). Watched the first quarter at home before going to work and thought it was going to end up as an LSU blowout the way things were trending, honestly. On the plus side, Hannah Stuelke (foul trouble) and Gabbie Marshall didn't provide their normal games on offense but still won that game pretty comfortably. Not sure if Clark has another game like that in her. The biggest issue is the tendency to relax a bit after a hyped up game like that, but pretty hard to imagine the attention letting up with the media salivating over potential match-ups of star players colliding. And now we get another week of Clark vs. Bueckers/Watkins hype...
  18. Seeing how they spent the last $27.5 million in free agency, another $3 million to protect their minor leaguers isn't the worst thing in the world. But the optics around this guy just aren't great. Especially if you are making the claim that "winning clubhouse chemistry" and getting rid of all the bad apples was one of the main off season priorities. I mean, the've turned over, what, 70-75% of the roster now? When do they start pointing the finger at themselves for being in this pitiful situation? Conveniently, blame will go to Hahn and KW, but that excuse won't last forever when teams like the Royals and Tigers are making legitimate efforts to compete in a division where Minnesota is already wounded.
  19. No reason it shouldn't. Ofc, we don't know how close to game action that Clevinger actually is...it's not like it is going to mean anything in the overall scheme of things.
  20. Thought we were adding Sammy Sosa after reading the Clevinger thread...
  21. Not waste any time losing the most games since the 1962 Mets...that quote isn't going to wear well for JR and Getzie, now is it?
  22. "Gavin Sheets was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft from Gilman School (Baltimore, MD) and the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft from Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, NC). $2,000,000 signing bonus." Braves are usually draft geniuses lol. https://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Autographed-Rawlings-Baseball-Beckett/dp/B09GBM64WP
  23. Larry Sheets recommendation? Even those annoying O's fans couldn't positively spin his presence on an MLB roster.
