Besides the White Sox, what are they other three teams the Yankees haven't faced in the post season? 2 NL 1 AL -

I wonder if someone suggested Robert try for a 30/30 season or Severino's simply terribly slow to home or both... Clevinger is throwing well enough (94-97) if he keeps this up through September he will be out of the White Sox price range... -

Didn't realize Clevinger was allowed to wear basically what amounts to a snakeskin belt out there. -

Looking at his hands/wrists. Right pinkie and ring finger. -
All I asked was where the game thread is...but I guess nobody cares anymore at this point. I mean...imagine if you said exactly two years ago when Anderson walked off the Yankees at the Field of Dreams game that we were going to have a NY series in our so called championship window and it was basically going to be irrelevant for both franchises.

Dodgers have completely overhauled Lynn pitch mix

That said...the opposing scouts were almost universally saying get him away with a reset from the White Sox and he'll be fine. The jury on Anderson was split roughly 50/50 on a change of scenery actually helping him. -
Tempted to say bring him up but normally they would let him play through September and then any AA/AAA playoffs.

Geez. There's no point to even being a fan of this team. That's where things are definitely headed.

Nice story for Ian Hamilton finding a home in baseball again...starting a game at GRF for the White Sox.

Thanks Ron! Attempted Abreu sabotage.

Is this the Gamethread lol? Robert is really playing baseball with a different attitude these last couple of days. Not sure he would beat Julio Rodriguez head to head in CF but definitely deserving of another GG.

They likely don't even know of his existence....our last significant Korean signing was something like a decade ago. Pretty sure we pulled our scouting coverage of the Pacific Rim due to expense.

$65 million roster

No more games against them this year. JR could have sold a lot of tickets off that rematch, at least Game 1.

Well you can argue if a certain Memphis point guard didn’t fall apart physically they might have had a shot. Along with Jay Williams and then Lonzo Ball. Of course, lots of terrible draft picks just like the Sox and a complete inability to draw in a superstar in his prime years. That sounds familiar, too.
-
They might have jinxed themselves with not allowing announcers to mention anything construed as negative though. Talk about being sensitive to criticism and their franchise history the past two decades...some of it related to not making a big move this deadline as well. Benetti wouldn't last one pay period over there and he's oft criticized as Mr. Company Schill.

Lots of strikeout pitchers throw high in the zone and give up a ton of flyouts and homers like Cease Lynn Kopech. Giolito usually gets killed on location/command but lacks the pure stuff fastball velo wise to blow people away...but still gets lots of Ks mixing FB and change. Bullpen has great stuff but no idea where it's going half the time...but had highest average FB in baseball until two weeks ago. Just making contact half the battle when pitchers throw that hard. And then there's the home stadium in the summer with a number of cheapies going out.

Deliverance 2...or one of those guys who park their pontoon boats in the wrong place and refuse to give up their spot until fisticuffs break out out and Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane shows up to adjudicate. But not cool enough to be Bo or Luke. Maybe he works with Cooter in the garage on transmission overhauls.

It's one of the numerous things preventing the Sox from totally revamping their operations. Mix in half the AL/NL East or West and there would be no prayer to compete and fans would just throw in the towel out of frustration. Same with the NL Central...but to a much lesser extent.

Then there was the spin how great a deal Pollock was based on his platoon numbers with the Dodgers…well, we experienced a similar dropoff from a similar 3ish fWAR guy in Benintendi this year. If we had scouts in Korea or even paid for satellite subscription…we could have gotten better and cheaper production out of Tauchman without spending more than the Yankees were willing to fork over for their “own” player (4 year bid) in Benintendi. And Tauchman is even a far better defender…so it pretty much figures with Hahn involved our highest contract historically is a LF with Bottom 7 power in all of MLB and Bottom 8 fielding/OAA.

Statistically, he was one of the top 2-3 pitchers in baseball last year for SF.

Can’t find either of the two signing bonuses… “Martinez, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Caracas, Venezuela, originally was signed by the Dodgers as an international free agent on January 15, 2021. FanGraphs previously had him ranked 31st in the Dodgers farm system in their early January prospect report.”
-
The White Sox led MLB with an $1,410,000 international bonus pool as of June 11, while the Dodgers had just $6,500 available. Players who sign for $10,000 or less don’t count against the pool. https://dodgerblue.com/dodgers-prospects-aldrin-batista-maximo-martinez-traded-to-white-sox/2023/08/05/ Had to be at least $1 million then…some are speculating it was $1.25 million though Yeah, that’ll work. With the quality of Jang’s secondaries, I would conservatively put him at a grade of 40+, just a bit ahead of 2023 3rd round pick Brady Smith, whom FanGraphs has as a 40 but mentioned stopping just short of slapping a 40+ tag on him as well. Only 10 pitchers aged 19 or younger received such a nod in the 2023 draft class, and I feel comfortable slotting him somewhere in the latter half of that group. A pair of factors that may lure Jang into signing are those of recency and industry; this past January, the Pittsburgh Pirates added one of the top prospects out of South Korea to their crew, fellow hurler Shim Jun-seok, giving him a signing bonus of $750K. In an IFA world where bonus amounts are often agreed to several years in advance, it is difficult enough to carve out a significant dollar figure on short notice. So, for Jang to potentially land even more than his fellow countryman received, while being able to get his career started sooner rather than later, may combine to be all the enticement necessary. https://dodgersdigest.com/2023/08/05/dodgers-swap-prospects-maximo-martinez-aldrin-batista-for-ifa-money-maybe-for-jang-hyun-seok-musings-on-valuations/
