- Sox now 1-7, on pace for 20-142 record
Stockholm Syndrome.- Grossman up, Jimenez over, Speas out
More like a TERRA COTTA warrior...is Eloy. Body just falls apart/disintegrates after contact with virtually anything.- Gamethread (4/6)
Okay, THAT'S what JR was complaining about then, never going over 3 million then...he didn't mention the part about decreased stadium capacity.- Sox now 1-7, on pace for 20-142 record
That goes along quite well with the downward pointing Guaranteed Rate logo...- March ******* (Basketball Thread)

One can always fantasize that...the pitchfork wielding villagers in Beauty and the Beast were actually intending to storm the administrative offices at 35th and Shields and got lost. Too bad they couldn't take out Brooks Boyer, too.- Gamethread (4/6)
We would have picked the equivalent of Tyler Kolek/Brady Aiken anyways. (Well, if you ignore what the Astros did with their next draft, leave that aspect out.)- Gamethread (4/6)
Great timing. Covid losses when the Sox finally have a fun team. TLR. Yerminator Terminated. Dissolution of the Cuban Connection. Injuries/MASH unit. Draft lottery. It's almost like an Oliver Stone-esque conspiracy to keep the rest of the AL Central somehow simultaneously more competitive than the pathetic White Sox.- Luis Robert right hip flexor injury
His health issues are starting to remind me of Bo Jackson. Couldn't imagine such an imposing dude, really an athletic marvel, being so frail/vulnerable in the prime of his career.- Sox now 1-7, on pace for 20-142 record
Well, we can now add Burger/Anderson/Avi Garcia's unduly influencing the Marlins' poor record too, lol... Would be almost impossible to imagine after that walk-off night in Iowa cornfields, August 12th or whatever it was of 2021.- Fire Pedro Grifol
Getz and JR, in their desire to avoid losing a history-threatening number of games...have managed to create a not exactly inexpensive roster that will do QUITE THE OPPOSITE. A continuing stream of embarrassment for the franchise the next 2-3 seasons. Which will probably kill any hopes of getting a new stadium for a new ownership group. Unless that group forces the issue with a willingness to invest private money into a stadium project...and it becomes clear the Reinsdorf family will never get that done because of all the ill-will.- Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Most Campfire Shakes sold... Most roster moves/transactions. Lowest OPS/OBP, pretty much any offensive statistics on record. Most bullpen innings (after Crochet comes to an inevitable end at some point). Most K's/least walks. Fewest homers in new stadium.- Gamethread (4/6)
What are the odds that he falls on his own sword first? Grifol will never get another managing job (and the accompanying salary) for the rest of his life. Just like Getz/Hahn/KW ever repeating as MLB general managers...- Gamethread (4/6)
More specifically, for not even drawing 2+ million fans or whatever it was...maybe in 2006. Of course, chopping off half the upper deck didn't help, that was a loss of what, 3500-4000 seats?- Gamethread (4/6)
Saw a recommendation for TOKYO VICE here as well...really enjoyed it over the weekend, finished Season 1, through 6 of 10 in Season 2 already. Good stuff. Also highly recommend The Boy and the Heron if you enjoy Japanese animation. Academy Award nominee/winner by Hayao Miyazaki.- Gamethread (4/6)
Just wait until May June July at GRF. Or non AL Central opponents.- 4/6 Games
You're absolutely right. And it's not even like Paddy has much of a choice...if you take away spreading money across numerous teenagers, you're constantly chasing older guys like Cousin, Cespedes, Yogurt Sanchez etc.- 4/6 Games
Sell him off for Cash Considerations now before it's too late. The secret is out! Upside is Olerud/Grace...not Corey Seager.- 4/6 Games
That's the consequences of cutting draft rounds/more NCAA hitters...but you'd think even with one less affiliate in the low minors it wouldn't be THIS bad.- Gamethread (4/6)
Perpetual syndication rights to The Untouchables movie will surely outgain Vaughn career earnings from 2025 onwards.- Gamethread (4/6)
Basically, Gordon Beckham after his rookie year...position and player equivalent.- Gamethread (4/6)
Team meeting? Or proof/validation that following Royals' Way really works?- March ******* (Basketball Thread)
https://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39889095/iowa-again-draws-record-ratings-final-four-win-uconn If UConn somehow loses this game, SC/Iowa is going to beat them in the ratings...which would be the first time that ever happened in history... Purdue/UConn will hold them off though, if that's the ultimate match-up. The Iowa-UConn matchup (14.2 million) is also one of the most-viewed games in any sport other than college football and the NFL over the past couple years. Last year's NCAA men's basketball title game between San Diego State and UConn averaged 14.79 million. The Hawkeyes game, which saw the audience peak at 17 million, will likely go down as one of the top 50 primetime telecasts of 2024. It would have finished 32nd on last year's list. It is also ESPN's second-highest audience for a non-football broadcast. The United States-Portugal match during group play in the 2014 men's soccer World Cup averaged 18.22 million. The last NBA game to draw at least 14 million viewers was Golden State's title-clinching victory over Boston in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals (14.22 million).- 4/6 Games
Yes, 96-97, touching 98. Of course, it's not like Santos is doing anything for the Mariners, either. They're almost as cursed as the White Sox these days. - Sox now 1-7, on pace for 20-142 record
