  1. Elly De la Cruz HR, 3B six RBIs Back in the NL Central WC race again
  2. Would take a well-motivated Luhnow over just about anyone else. Just don't see it actually happening. https://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/blog/2015/06/tony-la-russa-speaks-out-on-cardinals-hacking.html You'd think he would have some interesting opinions...having been right in the middle of it all. "Once you're with an organization for eight or nine years, you feel like you're a part of it forever, and I take a lot of what I learned over there and apply it over here," said Luhnow, who was hired Dec. 7. "Those relationships will be there with those individuals. It was a special time in my life, going through three World Series and winning two of them with the club, and it's something I hope we can replicate over here." The series will also be the first against the Cards for Astros bench coach Joe Pettini, who came to Houston after longtime manager Tony La Russa retired last fall. Luhnow was the Cardinals' director of player procurement when the Astros tabbed him to be their 12th general manager. He began working for the club in 2003, and he helped them acquire several impact players that played a part in St. Louis winning the World Series in 2011, including Jaime Garcia, Allen Craig, John Jay and Daniel Descalso. One of the key philosophies Luhnow brought to Houston from St. Louis was an emphasis on data-based analysis and the use of technology in scouting and player evaluation. One of his first hires was director of decision sciences Sig Mejdal, who handled analytics for the Cards from 2005-11. In eight years with the organization, Luhnow won eight rings -- five Minor League championships, an NL championship ring and two World Series rings. In fact, Luhnow said he will receive one of the two 2011 Minor League championship rings this weekend, but he'll have to wait until next month to receive the World Series ring. "A lot of players from that team, I was involved in helping them get drafted or develop or in the trades that brought them over, so I have a connection to them," he said. "The team is obviously doing well. Our goal is to beat them once the games start. It's going to be fun to see all those guys at Minute Maid Park and say hello to all of them, and it's going to be a big test for our club to see where we are and play a team as good as the Cardinals are right now." https://www.mlb.com/news/jeff-luhnow-looking-forward-to-reunion-with-st-louis-cardinals/c-30318992
  3. Getz actually did win a championship ring with the 2015 Royals. Of course, that was his very first year with the organization, so hard to imagine he was all that influential in bringing that championship culture about, especially as they came so close in 2014 against Madison Bumgarner that it came down to the final inning of the final game.
  4. Rodriguez tear stopped cold by the flu.
  5. Mike Ford must be related to Lew Ford of Piranhas fame.
  6. Time for the Whack A Mole bullpen...
  7. Have to keep that runner off second...
  8. Colas 582 Anderson 573 Brian Anderson-esque
  9. Colas Thompson Perez will save the day. Benintendi Grandal Moncada bench
  10. They're going to sign Josh Hader and then he will blow up in similarly spectacular fashion.
  11. Houston and Texas must be considering lawsuits at this point against Grifol or the Sox/JR.
  12. Edgar Navarro NOW? Your what hurts? DFAd Honeywell after Padres abused his arm...same will happen to Santos at this rate. Then they will eventually end up on the Yankees.
  13. Fire Grifol. Or reward him for securing #3 pick?
  14. Gotta be kidding Sox fans with this...
  15. The crazy thing with KC is that nearly every one of their top prospects and trades (like Cain and Escobar) hit over a 4-5 year period. Perfect bullpen for a couple of years like the 2005 White Sox. Perfect late inning strategies like Dyson and Gore for late innings. But the rotation was not built to be sustainable and then Yordano Ventura died as well. And the prospect pipeline went completely dry. Resigned a fading Alex Gordon (almost lost him to the White Sox!)
  16. Trayce Thompson 4th in current lineup OPS...
  17. Inspired by presence of TLR?
  18. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ct-white-sox-draft-haugh-spt-0612-20170611-story.html Now we have Nick Hostetler, Dayton Moore and Buddy Bell tied together lol. https://theathletic.com/40094/2017/02/23/new-rising-star-in-white-sox-front-office-is-a-familiar-face/ “Getzy’s special,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. “He has an unbelievable ceiling as an executive in this game.”
  19. Based on his career numbers against the Sox...it will cut down the team ERA by at least 0.3.
  20. Still not buying Hahn ever getting another GM job. He'll land on his feet somewhere, surely. Has those three alumni networks to rely upon and KW's glowing compliments about his intellect...not unlike when he said Robin Ventura could lead the US Army or a Fortune 500 company or words to that effect. All the comments coming out about Jeremy Haber being another version of Jonah Hill in Moneyball just back up the idea of Hahn never having the slightest bit of pure scouting instincts in his bones. Who needs a 190 page binder on Pedro Grifol to realize he's not THE ONE? Even Dayton Moore was an instinctive enough leader to cut Pedro loose from his organization... Guess we next need to ask Luis Robert if he knows who Haber or Getz actually are and what their respective roles are with the team...
  21. If they were still playing in 2019 form…this thread would likely not exist. I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if Ned Yost comes out of recent KC Royals HoF enshrinement to lead the White Sox next. Vaughn traded to open up 1B for Hosmer.
