  1. The parking prices going up even after last year is the kind of thing that's even more noticeable going in and out and tends to leave a bitter taste...much more so than tickets concessions and souvenir prices. Then you have all the additional fees associated with TM...but that's an argument for another day.
  2. It would be in his best interest to get a personal showcase of his versatility and current level of health for all 29 other teams laughing at Rick Hahn's lack of judgment.
  3. https://sports.yahoo.com/ken-griffey-jr-one-reds-113210441.html Ken Griffey Jr. with $3.59 million deferred at age 53 will be the fourth highest paid Red this season. Not unlike Bobby Bonilla and Herschel Walker deals.
  4. Opening Day power rankings also exactly 15th... https://www.mlb.com/news/opening-day-power-rankings-2023 Guardians 12th, Twins 13th
  5. We will know a lot in the first 33 games. @ HOU 1-3 SFG 2-1 @ Pitt 2-1 Baltimore 1.5-1.5 Philly 1.5-1.5 @ TB 1-2 @ Tor 1-2 TB 2-2 Minnesota 2-1 15-18 after 33...best guess
  6. Kopech taking a step forward and finally being healthy for an entire season is a big one for me.
  7. Almost a $20 million GS vs. Astros. Talk about short sighted thinking.
  8. DH: Shohei Ohtani, Angels The Angels emphasized their intention to keep Ohtani this winter, shooting down any talk of an offseason trade. But what if Los Angeles finds itself out of the race by May or June? The demand for Ohtani would be enormous, igniting a bidding war for the two-way superstar. Ohtani’s $30 million salary in 2023 is high, though it wouldn’t stop a number of teams from pursuing him for a second-half run to the postseason. Buzz factor: High. This is not to say that people expect Ohtani to be dealt, but should the Angels make him available, he would immediately become the most highly sought-after trade candidate in years (or decades?). If the Angels don’t think they can retain him at the end of the season and aren’t true postseason contenders, it would be crazy for them not to entertain the idea of bringing back a haul of prospects for Ohtani. MLB.com Who else but the Dodgers would/could put this trade together for the 2nd half of the season?
  9. Death by a thousand cuts. 8-10 solid players but we are right back to 2013-2016 again. Not enough talent infusion from the minors and failures across the core.
  10. And the owner in CLE who only throws nickels X infinity around are for transcendent franchise players like Jose Ramirez and potentially Shane Don't Call Me Justin Bieber. Also interesting bordering on intriguing to see how the financial constraints of the Bally/Sinclair fallout affect the Guardians' financial flexibility this year.
  11. Did Jon Jay finish that season out that started paired with Alonso?
  12. Middleton was the only other possibility…
  13. Leury from 2017 through 2021. 5.7 fWAR, through 2022, 4.6 fWAR. Moncada 2017 2018 2020 2023=4.3 fWAR Obviously that leaves out Moncada’s two best seasons, but it shouldn’t even be comparable for a former #1 prospect in all of baseball versus a fringey top 10-15 prospect on the Rangers.

  15. https://www.mlb.com/news/prospects-who-impressed-during-spring-training-2023?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Notes particulsrly long blurb about Ben Joyce later in the article...
  16. Probably told he wouldn't make the team for OD.
  17. Er.Gonzalez now something like 15 or 16/40.
  18. Coca Colas or Colas Slaw with two run single blowing game wide open...
  19. AAAA players Remillard and Erick Gonzalez homer. Reds' pitcher has actually lowered ERA with three runs surrendered over 2 IP.
  20. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/winning-wbc-angels-shohei-ohtani-001214543.html
  21. Romy's gonna have to hit RHP with a 10+ ERA.
  22. Before last year, Leury at least earned his way contract-wise. I really think he gets more rope because none of the outfield candidates earned their way. Keuchel was clearly toast. Same with Keppinger and Ranks after the injuries. You can't make the same argument that a Romy Gonzalez will light the world on fire in his stead. Leury on average has actually out produced Moncada cumulatively in 2017 18 20 and 22 and can play everywhere. And he's going to pick up a lot of steals, which will suddenly be at a premium again. Alberto will do the same thing on the infield.
  23. As long as the regulars hit for power and not like 2022...and not expecting a repeat from Andrus, those players would both be luxuries to carry on the roster for bench power.
  24. Sure, a different uniform and the Sox eating over $10 million? Unfortunately they can't try to trade him unless they give him extensive playing time. Except too much Leury is bad news for the team's record usually. Does maximizing his trade value to recoup $3-4 million come in front of winning?
